  • Patent number: 10405234
Abstract: Systems and methods provide load balancing on time division multiple access (TDMA) inroute channels of a satellite network. A bandwidth allocation manager or module can employ smart admission techniques to admit new terminals based upon the available bandwidth capacities of TDMA inroute channels including committed information rate (CIR) bandwidth requirements of already admitted terminals and current and CIR bandwidth requirements of the new terminals. Attempts are made to fully load a first TDMA inroute channel before providing admission to a second TDMA inroute channel. Additionally, an already admitted terminal requesting increased bandwidth or one or more other already admitted terminals may be reassigned to one or more alternative TDMA inroute channels to accommodate the requested increase in bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 10404522
Abstract: A SOAM virtualization system for a network having at least first and second maintenance entities coupled to each other comprises a network controller coupled to at least one of the first and second maintenance entities through a tunnel for virtualizing a SOAM network function on the at least one of the first and second maintenance entities to which the network controller is coupled. The network controller may be coupled to the first and second maintenance entities through first and second tunnels, respectively. The first maintenance entity may an originator device, and the second maintenance entity may be a destination device, with the network controller virtualizing the SOAM network function on both devices. The network controller may send a packet containing a tunnel header and a SOAM frame via the first tunnel to the originator device, which then sends the packet containing the SOAM frame to the destination device.

  • Patent number: 10396957
Abstract: Pilot tones are included within symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) transmitted between wireless communication devices. The pilot tones occupy fewer than all tone locations in any given symbol, and the pilot tones occupy different respective locations within different symbols. Generally, these traveling pilots are assigned to different respective tone locations in different symbols. In total, the pilot tones did not cover every single tone location within the symbols used to convey information between devices. Considering for example, when pilots occupy fewer than all tone locations, even among multiple symbols, a device may perform interpolation to generate a pilot tone estimate corresponding to a tone location not occupied by pilot tone within any symbol. Also, power or magnitude of the pilot tones themselves may be boosted or amplified relative to power magnitude of other tones within such symbols.

  • Patent number: 10390241
Abstract: Methods and system to determine the health of wireless mesh networks are provided. Each radio node of a wireless mesh network transmits Link Quantification Messages (LQMs) interPAN at maximum power to enable adjacent nodes to determine the Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) on the wireless link to that radio node. Each radio node also transmits LQMs at successively lower power levels. The adjacent nodes detect a power level at measurable packet error rate to determine a noise floor for the wireless link. An aggregator collects link quantification information from the radio nodes and forms an intercommunication matrix for the wireless network. The RSSI and power level at measurable packet error rate information is used to remove unreliable links from the intercommunication matrix. Nodes are ranked and the reliability and dependability of the nodes is calculated to show the network health.

  • Patent number: 10356689
Abstract: A method for mobility management for a mobile node that establishes a connection with a first network while in a second network and traverses to a third network includes transferring location management information from the second network to the first network. An indirection path from the first network to the third network is established for data packets directed to the mobile node. The data packets directed to the mobile node are transferred using the indirection path without traversing the second network. This allows for the address anchor of the connection to remain at the second network while providing a flow anchor at the first network, which allows a direct flow to the third network.
