Abstract: A system and method are provided for updating persistent data in a wireless communications device. The wireless communications device receives patch manager run time instructions from an airlink interface. A run-time engine is launched. The run-time engine receives the patch manager run time instructions with dynamic instruction sets and new code sections, including updated persistent data. The run-time engine processes the dynamic instruction sets. In response to processing the dynamic instruction sets, the run-time engine selectively updates persistent data in the system software. The updated persistent data may, for example, be selected from the following: radio frequency (RF) calibration data, nonvolatile system and user configuration data, resource data, nonvolatile system and user application data, and arbitrary data.
Abstract: System and method for assigning communications resources in a wireless communications system. A method for operating a base station comprises receiving a resource request for radio resources for a mobile station, in response to a determining that the base station will service the resource request, assigning radio resources based on the resource request and transmitting an indicator of the assigned radio resources to the mobile station, and in response to a determining that the base station will not service the resource request, returning to a normal mode of operations. The assigning of radio requests makes use of a channel tree comprised of two non-orthogonal sets of mappings between nodes of the channel tree and radio resources, with each node corresponding to at least one radio resource.

Abstract: A method in a radio network node is disclosed for handling positioning data in a radio communications network, which radio network node serves a user equipment in a cell. The radio network node obtains positioning data from the user equipment, which positioning data is associated with a positioning measurement for positioning the user equipment. The radio network node associates the obtained positioning data with an on-going trace session of the user equipment. The radio network node then sends a trace record to a network management node, which trace record includes information associated with the positioning data.

Abstract: A user device having an active application periodically detects for a hands-off state of the user device. Upon detecting a hands-off state, the user device affects at least one of the active application and the user device. Prior to affecting at least one of the active application and the user device, the user device detects for one or more of a connection between the user device and another device, and an application of pressure to the user device. If either is detected the, the user device bypasses affecting at least one of the active application and the user device.
Abstract: A method of locating a mobile device and the mobile device utilizing the same are provided. The method, adopted by a mobile device, includes: scanning for a first signal of a first signal source in a vicinity of a first location to obtain first signal source information; receiving a logging request to log the first location; and upon receiving the logging request, recording a first location identifier and the first signal source information in a location log, wherein the first location identifier represents the first location.
Abstract: A short messaging system (SMS) emergency services 911 system (SMS E911). Excess non-voice capacity is used to establish a Short Message Service (SMS) capability for generating an emergency 911 “equivalent” call, together with location information required by emergency services and to meet Federal 911 requirements. 911 requests for emergency assistance are delivered using non-voice centric sources such as SMS, email, and/or autonomous data/message generation devices. SMS 911 capability enables SMS savvy consumers to generate requests for emergency assistance to the local Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The SMS 911 emergency services request can be understood by an otherwise conventional PSAP, including provision of location information, and translated to provide first responders with the emergency services information they need to offer timely assistance.

Abstract: Network sharing allows different core network operators to connect to a shared radio access network. The operators may share the radio network elements, and may also share the radio resources themselves. Examples of radio access sharing architectures include GWCN and MOCN. In such multi-PLMN deployment scenarios, operators are also interested in sharing measuring nodes due to their expense. To enable sharing, method(s), apparatus(es), and/or system(s) are proposed in which network nodes may perform joint selection of positioning nodes and PLMNs; in which positioning nodes of different PLMNs may communicate; in which a positioning node may obtain and use assistance data associated with a PLMN different from that of the positioning node; and to coordinate positioning measurement.
