  • Patent number: 11405797
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for streamlined cell activation in a wireless network. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods provide enhanced wireless services which utilize bandwidth-efficient setup/configuration messaging and cell activation, including for very large numbers of cells, and which do not overwhelm data backhaul(s) associated with wireless nodes used for communication. In one embodiment, a message protocol is used wherein a prescribed number of cells of a given DU (e.g., all, a prescribed subset, etc.) are activated without having to enumerate or include specific data relating to the cells being activated. In one variant, this “global” activation is conducted using an Activate All Cells IE (Information Element) disposed with the F1SETUP RESPONSE message issued by a controlling CU entity within a 5G-NR infrastructure. In other variants, cells of multiple DUs can be controlled simultaneously, such as via distribution of a system-wide global activation IE.

  • Patent number: 11356813
Abstract: Embodiments monitor items corresponding to a vehicle. Embodiments determine a maximum speed of the vehicle. Embodiments determine a last known first geo-location of a first item, the first geo-location including a first location and corresponding first time and determines a last known second geo-location of a second item, the second geo-location including a second location and corresponding second time. Embodiments determine a reachability radius including a difference between the second time and the first time and multiplying the difference by the maximum speed. Embodiments determine a distance between the first location and the second location and when the distance is greater than the reachability radius, determine that the first item is detached from the second item.

  • Patent number: 11212728
Abstract: The identification of a user device as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) may cause the wireless communication network to implement certain operations. A user device communicating with a wireless communication network may be determined to be an UAV based on one or more behavior characteristics of the user device. Accordingly, a base station handover threshold for the UAV may be modified to prolong a communication duration of the UAV with a base station when a decrease in signal strength or an increase in signal interference of a signal provided by the base station occurs. The base station handover threshold is a threshold for determining when to handover communication between the UAV and the wireless communication network from the base station to an additional base station. The modification of base station handover threshold reduces a handover rate of the UAV between multiple base stations of the wireless communication network.

  • Patent number: 11166123
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for grouped transmission of location data in a location sharing system. Consistent with some embodiments, a first client device of a first user receives, over a wireless communication network (e.g., a wireless local area network (WLAN)), a request for location data. The first client device, broadcasts a probe request via a first wireless communication channel using a more energy efficient communication technology (e.g., Bluetooth®) than the wireless communication network. The first client device receives, from one or more second client devices running the location sharing client application, each second client device being associated with a second user, a probe response. Upon receiving the one or more probe responses, the first client device sends, to the server, over the wireless communication network, an electronic communication containing location data of the first and of the one or more second users.
