Abstract: This disclosure is directed to establishing data access for a mobile device in a foreign mobile network. An exemplary method comprises executing a first attach operation (e.g., an IMSI attach operation) for a mobile device, the first attach operation resulting in a successful first attachment for the mobile device; determining, for a particular period, non-execution of a second attach operation (e.g., a GPRS operation) for a second attachment for the mobile device; classifying, based on the successful first attachment and the non-execution of the second attach operation for the particular period, the mobile device as a silent roamer; and determining whether the mobile device is associated with a data package for establishing a first quota of data access.

Abstract: The invention concerns a method for establishing a telecommunication connection between a calling subscriber (1) and a target subscriber (5), in which a calling terminal (R) of the calling subscriber (1) and a target terminal (Z) of the target subscriber (5) are assigned to a switching unit (100) and the calling subscriber (1) enters a callback request (CCBS-REQ, CCNR-REQ) in the switching unit (100) if the target terminal (Z) is busy or cannot be reached when a first call is made from the calling terminal (R) to the target terminal (Z), in which configuration data regarding the accessibility of the target subscriber (5) for a callback are entered into the switching unit (100).
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is a Core Network CN entity such as Mobility Management Entity MME, capable of sending a paging request message such as S1 Paging message to a Radio Access Network RAN entity such as eNodeB, for paging a User Equipment UE, said CN entity configured to: provide in a paging request message, control information enabling said CN entity to influence the consumption by said RAN entity of radio transmission resources for said paging.
Abstract: A network element of a core network receives a connectivity request for a first peer device. The connectivity request includes an indication for establishing a peer-to-peer connection for the first peer device to communicate data packets with a second peer device. The network element sends, to a first base station of an access network, an access network bearer setup request, which includes an address for the first peer device and serves as a request for the first base station to establish, for the peer-to-peer connection, an access network bearer in the access network for use in communicating the data packets with the second peer device without the use of a core network bearer.
Abstract: Various novel concepts and schemes pertaining to non-orthogonal multiple access for wireless communications are described. A group orthogonal coded access (GOCA) scheme is introduced to reduce multi-user interference (MUI) and improve performance. A repetition division multiple access (RDMA) scheme is introduced to differentiate user equipment (UEs) by different repetition patterns. A low-density spreading (LDS) scheme is introduced to reduce MUI and improve performance.
Abstract: In order to acquire a feature containing only a fluctuation component of a radio wave signal from received data, a feature quantity measuring device calculates the feature, based on data in a predetermined time span of time series data from a received communication signal, and calculates a degree of similarity between the feature and supervised data representing a preset feature when there is a fading variation. In addition, the feature quantity measuring device determines, based on a comparison result indicating a magnitude relationship between the degree of similarity and a predetermined threshold value, whether a characteristic of the fading variation is contained within the time span and, when the characteristic is not contained, outputs the feature for the time span.

The electronic device includes a communication module configured to communicate with an external electronic device and a processor configured to determine a size of content, transmit or receive the content at a first speed if the size of the content is less than a specific size, and transmit or receive the content at a second speed, which is slower than the first speed, if the size of the content is greater than or equal to the specific size.
Abstract: An example device for processing a query for a physical asset includes a processor and a computer-readable medium storing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations. The operations may include receiving a query for a physical asset from a requesting device, determining a near field communication node that detects the physical asset, and providing to the requesting device an identification of a communication device that is associated with the near field communication node in response to the query.

Abstract: A Device to Device (D2D) user equipment (UE) is configured to support synchronization in a D2D network. The D2D UE includes an antenna configured to communicate via a D2D communication. The D2D UE also includes processing circuitry configured to enter a communication Mode 2 when certain conditions are met. The certain conditions include: when a first timer (T310) for detecting radio link failure is running, a second timer (T311) for initiating the connection reestablishment is running, or a third timer (T301) for requesting connection reestablishment is running. In communication Mode 2, the D2D UE, on its own, selects resources from resource pool(s) to transmit D2D data and D2D control information. The processing circuitry further configured to exit the communication Mode 2 and enter a communication Mode 1 when the certain condition is no longer met. In communication Mode 1, the D2D UE uses resources configured by another station.

Abstract: Known geospatial device coordinates are clustered using a machine learning-based clustering algorithm into device clusters with cluster centroids. Each device cluster corresponds to a geographical location. Each cluster centroid is annotated with a regional floor-height value of the respective geographical location. Current device data of a device, including latitude, longitude, and elevation, are received, and a geographic location of the device is determined using the latitude and longitude. An approximate current floor upon which the first device is located is determined by mapping the current device data of the first device to a closest cluster centroid, and calculating the approximate current floor using the elevation of the first device and the annotated regional floor-height value of the closest cluster centroid. An individual is directed to the device's geographic location and approximate current floor.

Abstract: A paging method in a wireless telecommunications system. A core network element selects a base station from plural base stations including a tracking area to have primary responsibility for paging a terminal device and conveys an indication of the terminal device to the selected base station. Each base station maintains a paging database identifying one or more terminal devices for which it has a responsibility for paging. When a terminal device is to be paged, the core network element transmits a paging request to the plural base stations including the tracking area. The respective base stations then determine whether to onward transmit a paging message for the terminal device based on a comparison between an identifier for the terminal device being paged with entries in their paging database, and if the comparison indicates it has responsibility for paging the terminal device, it will transmit a paging message accordingly.

Abstract: A base station comprised in a network for handling a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) timing for a communication device comprises a storage device storing instructions and the processing circuit configured to execute the instructions of communicating with the communication device according to a first HARQ minimum timing; receiving a first message comprising an indication of support of a second HARQ minimum timing from the communication device according to the first HARQ minimum timing, wherein the first HARQ minimum timing is greater than the second HARQ minimum timing; transmitting a second message configuring the second HARQ minimum timing to the communication device according to the first HARQ minimum timing in response to the first message; and communicating with the communication device according to the second HARQ minimum timing, when configuring the second HARQ minimum timing to the communication device.
Abstract: Currently, under bitstream access, communications providers are only given limited control over the services they offer. In order to prevent customers being accidently or maliciously reconfigured by a competitor, each communications provider's circuit is isolated from the other communications providers, and dynamic line management profile choice is maintained by the network operator. The present invention proposes allowing greater access to communications providers to configure physical layer configuration parameters associated with a line, through the use of an adaptation gateway. The adaptation gateway is used to manage configuration requests to digital subscriber lines from the communications providers. The adaptation gateway allows configuration of certain DSL line, channel or data path parameters (such as those listed in ITU-T Recommendation G.997.1), but prevents modification to any of those parameters that might affect or cause harm to the service of another line.
