  • Patent number: 10061248
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a display device that displays an input screen image and a touch-panel arranged on the display device, and has a trial copy function of producing, when instructed to produce multiple copies of a document, a copy or copies to allow the user to confirm that the copy or copies are well. When the trial copy function is designated and a copy start key displayed on the input screen image is pressed, the image forming apparatus produces one copy or copies of the document, erases the copy start key from the input screen image, and displays a trial copy key, a trial end key and a balloon including help information. Since keys related to the trial copy are displayed in place of normally displayed keys, operation errors can be reduced and the user can easily execute the trial copy function.

  • Patent number: 10033893
Abstract: In an image reading apparatus, a display displays a first screen on within at least a portion of a first reading processing, and its period extends from a time point at which a conveying mechanism starts conveying the first one of at least one document placed on a document supporter, to a time point at which the conveying mechanism finishes conveying the last one of the at least one document. The first screen inquires about whether a continuous reading processing is to be executed after the first reading processing. A controller determines whether a signal indicating execution of the continuous reading processing is received, with the first screen being displayed. The display displays a second screen when the signal indicating execution of the continuous reading processing is received. The second screen accepts an instruction of execution of the continuous reading processing.

  • Patent number: 10021261
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a human-body detection unit, an instruction receiver, and a controller. The controller determines whether an adjustment process is to be performed in accordance with a result of a determination, at an end of an image forming process, as to whether a human body is detected. The controller executes the adjustment process when the image forming process is terminated where the human-body detection unit does not detect a human body. The controller starts the image forming process before the adjustment process is executed where a human body is detected and the image forming instruction is received within a predetermined period. The controller executes the adjustment process when the predetermined period has elapsed while the image forming instruction is not received after the end of the image forming process where the human-body detection unit detects a human body.

  • Patent number: 9986122
Abstract: When other user is using an image forming apparatus before an output-permitted user having issued a security job reaches the image forming apparatus, security is lowered and also it takes some time until processing of security job is completed. The image forming apparatus notifies the output-permitted user of information indicating that other user is using the image forming apparatus in a case where the other user present near the image forming apparatus (own apparatus) is using the image forming apparatus. With this arrangement, the output-permitted user can know whether or not the other user is using the image forming apparatus before the output-permitted user reaches the image forming apparatus.

  • Patent number: 9967419
Abstract: An image reading apparatus capable of detecting correct color tones of an image printed on a sheet is described. The image reading apparatus includes a scanner 100, a colorimeter 103, a cooling device 145, a temperature control unit 111, and an image correction unit 113. While an image correction process is not performed, the temperature control unit 111 controls the cooling temperature to a first temperature for shifting the cooling device 145 to a predetermined cooled state. While the image correction process is performed, the temperature control unit 111 controls the cooling temperature to a second temperature for making the temperature of the sheet uniform. The image correction unit 113 obtains, while the temperature control unit 111 controls the cooling temperature to the second temperature, the correction amount of the image based on the colorimetric measurement result of the colorimeter 103 and the reading result of the scanner 100.

  • Patent number: 9942444
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a scanning section, a storage section, an image forming section, and a control section. The scanning section scans an image formed on a first side of the recording medium to obtain scanned image data. The storage section stores therein specific information data indicating a specific image or a specific character string. The control section controls the scanning section and the image forming section. The image forming section forms an image based on input image data on a second side of the recording medium. The control section determines whether or not the input image data includes the specific information data and the scanned image data includes the specific information data and determines based on a result of the determination whether or not to control the image forming section to form a masking image on the first side of the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 9919545
Abstract: A printer is configured such that a low position face is formed in an upper portion of a frame that forms a skeleton of an apparatus body thereof, and a panel unit that provides a user with a function of operating the printer and a function of displaying various items is disposed in a state of being embedded in the low position face. This configuration enables the height-direction size (the z-axis direction size) of the printer to be suppressed to a size smaller than the size resulting from independently adding the height-direction size of the frame to the height-direction size of the panel unit.

  • Patent number: 8004702
Abstract: This invention aims at conducting a scheduling work of print processing efficiently. A device scheduler refers to print job composition information registered in step control information of the step “printer reservation” of other print job (other order) in a workflow information table, and a schedule information table. The device scheduler searches both other print jobs (proof print jobs and regular print jobs) that a to-be-registered proof print job having a processing time of the proof print job described above affects and other print jobs (proof print jobs and regular print jobs) that affect the to-be-registered proof print job. The device scheduler determines whether the to-be-registered proof print job can be registered in a schedule (there is no search result in Step 2017 described above). When the registration is not possible, the device scheduler informs an operator of the result that automatic scheduling is impossible.

  • Patent number: 7995228
Abstract: A web publishing method using J2EE based controller. User submits an image from a workstation and chooses “Print to Website” option as the media type. The image is converted into an image format (e.g. JPEG) that can be display in a browser. These images can then be transmitted through a new output channel that would package them into a J2EE EAR file. The J2EE EAR file would abide by all J2EE conventions for specifying the URL and user interfaces via Struts MVC (Model View Controller). The EAR file can then be dropped in the JBoss deployment directory where it would be made available to the user. The user can receive a prompt at the driver or client tool interface letting them know that printing was successful, presenting them with the new URL, and optionally asking them to password the new web site if so desired.
