Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for automatically changing the operating mode of a wireless device are provided. A determination is made whether at least one state of the wireless device has changed. This determination is performed using at least one integrated device of the wireless device. A determination is made whether the change in the state of the wireless device indicates that the first operating mode should be changed. The operating mode is changed to a second operating mode of the wireless device in response to a determination that the change in the state of the wireless device indicates that the first operating mode should be changed. Changing to the second operating mode includes altering at least one wireless communication operation of the wireless device. Examples of the second operating mode may include, but is not limited to, an airplane mode, a train mode, a vehicle mode, an environmental condition mode; or a device-access mode.

Abstract: Systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products are provided for monitoring powered assets for fueling. For example, in one embodiment, a fuel server can monitor the location of powered assets and fueling units. In response to determining, for example, that a powered asset that needs fuel is within a predetermined geofence defined around a fueling unit, the powered asset can emit a perceivable indication. The powered asset can then be authenticated for receiving fuel from the fueling unit.
Abstract: An electronic key system that performs ID verification communication to verify an ID of an electronic key. The ID verification communication is started by transmission of a wireless signal from a vehicle and performed between the vehicle and the electronic key. The electronic key system determines the location of the electronic key in accordance with the received signal strength of a radio wave used for the ID verification communication. A signal strength measurement circuit measures a first signal strength, which is the received signal strength when a signal from the electronic key is received, and a second signal strength, which is the received signal strength of the radio wave during a vacant time when the electronic key is performing the ID verification communication. A control unit controls operation of the electronic key in accordance with a measurement result of the first and second signal strengths.
Abstract: A technique performs an authentication operation using pulse and facial data from a user. The technique involves obtaining current pulse data from a user, and performing a comparison between the current pulse data from the user and expected pulse data for the user. The technique further involves generating an authentication result based on the comparison between the current pulse data and the expected pulse data. The authentication result may control user access to a computerized resource. Since such a technique uses pulse data, a perpetrator cannot simply submit a static image of a subject's face to circumvent the authentication process. In some arrangements, the technique involves obtaining videos of human faces and deriving cardiac pulse rates from the videos. For such arrangements, a standard webcam can be used to capture the videos. Moreover, such techniques are capable of factoring in circadian rhythms and/or aging adjustments to detect and thwart video replay attacks.

Abstract: A portable data tag method, device and system for identifying a location of a data tag. The method comprises reading the data tag by a portable data tag reader device; determining, by a processor in operative communication with the reader device, a location of the portable data tag reader device; determining, by the processor, a read zone of the portable data tag reader device, relative to the location of the portable data tag reader device; and determining, by the processor, the location of the data tag using the location of the portable data tag reader device and the read zone of the portable data tag reader device.
Abstract: A symbolizing execution section symbolizes information regarding driving scenes, and describes an entire driving scene around the location of an own motor vehicle. This makes it possible to only increase the information to be symbolized when the number of traffic participants is increased. This can adopt the increase of the traffic participants. A symbol transition prediction section predicts a transition of the symbolized driving scene by using influence which affects the operation of the traffic participants caused by the operation of the own motor vehicle. This makes it possible to increase prediction accuracy while decreasing a large amount of calculation on predicting the transition of driving scene.
Abstract: The invention relates to a portable handheld work apparatus such as a cutoff machine, motor-driven chain saw, brushcutter, blower apparatus or the like. The apparatus includes a drive motor (2) for driving a work tool (6) and is provided with a security circuit (20). The security circuit (20) switches the drive motor (2) of the work apparatus into an operational-ready state or into an out-of-service state in dependence upon received signals of a receiver unit (18). The receiver unit is configured to receive at least one operating code. The receiver unit (18) is configured for receiving a service code (27) and, with the receipt of a service code, switches the drive motor into only a temporary service state.
Abstract: The tracking and monitoring system for opencast mines of the present invention enables continuously tracking and monitoring vehicles and moveable equipment in opencast mines using ZigBee-enabled active RFID devices forming a dynamic wireless network among them and other static and mobile ZigBee devices placed at strategic locations. The present invention provides a tracking and monitoring system for opencast mines comprises in combination of ZigBee-compliant devices (programmable to operate as end devices, routers and coordinators by hardware specific embedded software) and wireless sensor network software having various application modules for opencast mines. Use of the system of the present invention would help in maintaining computerized record and analysing the performance of costly shovels and dumpers deployed in opencast mines. This would help in optimising the placement of dumpers with each shovel depending on the change in working and dumping places.

Abstract: A multiple optical axis photoelectric sensor is provided that stops a control output according to light being obstructed in a detection area. First and second variable signals indicate the duration of an optical axis scan processing for which light entrance detection and light obstruction detection are obtained, respectively. The first and second variable signals are updated according to results of each scan in the optical axis scan processing. When the value of the first variable reaches a predetermined first reference value, and when a final value of the second variable is equal to or lower than a predetermined second reference value, a notification is made that the light obstruction is detected due to a malfunction. As a result of this notification, whether output signal of the sensor is erroneously switched due to a cause other than an object of a detection target can correctly be made.

Abstract: A secure keyless entry system integrates into an existing motorized garage door opening system to replace the one button transmitters typically placed in a vehicle. The one button transmitters are replaced with remote modules having alpha numeric key pads. The remote modules accept a string of input and compare the last four to eight entries to a previously set designated PIN. In order to obfuscate the designated PIN from on lookers, a user of the system may first enter a random string of decoy characters before finally entering the designated PIN. The disclosed system may also be used to replace the metal keys typically used to secure entry doors to a dwelling.
