Patent number: 4706545Abstract: In a brake valve of the type in which a given ratio is maintained between a master pressure developed by a brake pedal and an actual brake pressure, an arrangement is provided for continuous, rather than stepwise, adjustment of this ratio. The brake valve includes a control piston which is subjected to the master pressure and which, by the displacement thereof, opens and closes connecting channels between an accumulator containing a primary pressure fluid and a brake, as well as between the brake and a fluid collecting tank. The control piston and a measurement piston apply counter forces to the arms of a balance beam whose lever ratio determines the degree of feedback of the instantaneous brake pressure to the control piston. A stop is provided in the path of the axis of the control piston, which limits the stroke of the piston, to prevent the overloading of the balance beam during abnormally high braking pressures such as occur, for instance, during panic braking.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1985Date of Patent: November 17, 1987Assignee: Mannesmann Rexroth GmbHInventors: Dietmar Gossl, Ludwig Muncke, Kurt Wittich

Patent number: 4704946Abstract: A fluid motor for converting reciprocation of a piston within a cylinder to rotation by a crankshaft includes a valve for supplying a fluid to the cylinder and discharging the fluid therefrom. The valve comprises a rotary valve member rotatable with the crankshaft and a fixed valve body slidably in contact with the rotary valve member. When the motor stops, at least one-half portion of a fluid intake groove formed in the rotary valve member is positioned at one side, toward a direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the rotary valve member, of a position opposed to a cylinder connection port formed in the fixed valve body so that a sufficient amount of pressure fluid can be supplied to the cylinder at the start when the motor is initiated into operation again.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1986Date of Patent: November 10, 1987Assignee: Osaka Taiyu Co., Ltd.Inventor: Minoru Okada

Patent number: 4697499Abstract: Dual tandem composite cylinder assembly includes a cylinder having circumferential or hoop stress windings surrounding a pair of hydraulic chambers in series to react the circumferential loads and prevent diametrical expansion of the hydraulic chambers. Longitudinal tension windings extend over substantially the entire length of the cylinder outwardly of the circumferential windings to react the axial loads which the cylinder must contain. Compressive cylinder composite windings are also provided for carrying compressive loads generated within the cylinder. The hydraulic chambers are desirably lined with removable liner members to facilitate changing of seals and refurbishment of the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1984Date of Patent: October 6, 1987Assignee: Pneumo CorporationInventors: William Dirkin, Duane Douglass, James N. Patent number: 4694732Abstract: In a first embodiment, the assembly includes a shallow, substantially figure eight-shaped chamber of intersecting bores with a pair of rotors journalled therein. The chamber has upper and lower, parallel walls which are joined together by means of a peripheral, chamber-enclosing wall. The lower wall has an aperture therein for opening onto a cylinder of an air compressor, or the like, and the rotors sealingly interface the parallel and peripheral walls. By rotating the rotors toward or away from the aperture, a substantial volume of the chamber is closed off from, or opened to, the aperture. Thus, by mounting the Assembly onto a cylinder, with the aperture opening thereinto, the Assembly can be used to alter the effective volume of the cylinder without significantly adding dimension to the cylinder length or diameter.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1986Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Assignee: Ingersoll-Rand CompanyInventor: James V. Patent number: 4691617Abstract: A triple action, multi-segment, telescoping hydraulic ram comprising a plurality of coaxially nested, extensible cylinders adapted to be selectively extended or retracted, and a pair of lower diameter, sweep cycle cylinders adapted to be operated independently of the larger cylinders. The ram is ideal for the garbage reception area defined within the cargo area of conventional garbage trucks, for operating the compression platen for moving and compacting garbage. A terminal pin eye associated with the smaller sweep cycle cylinder may be coupled to a stationary support to rigidly brace the ram. Full extension and "sweep cycle" operation is effectuated through various input passageways defined in the pin eye through which high pressure hydraulic fluid is inputted to the ram in conjunction with various annular transmittal passageways to effectuate cylinder operation.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1986Date of Patent: September 8, 1987Assignee: Arkansas Precision Hydraulics, Inc.Inventor: Hans D.
