Patent number: 10598639Abstract: When performing an analysis of the difference between a specific sample group and a nonspecific sample group, a principle component analysis processing unit (33) performs principle component analysis on a collection of a plurality of mass spectrums created from data obtained for a single specific sample, and a characteristic spectrum acquisition unit (34) acquires a characteristic spectrum for each of a plurality of principle components using factor loadings. A spectrum similarity calculation unit (35) calculates the similarities between all mass spectrums and the characteristic spectrum for each sample, and obtains a representative value for the same. The similarity representative value for each sample is obtained for all the characteristic spectrums.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 2015Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: Shimadzu CorporationInventor: Yuriko Nakakimura

Patent number: 10591371Abstract: Power transmitted from a cyclist to a bicycle through crank arms is indirectly measured by performing calculations on direct physical measurements. The direct physical measurements are taken from sensors that can be non-rotationally coupled to the frame of the bicycle. The sensors can be integrated into the frame or installed as a module within a standard, unmodified bicycle bottom bracket. Measured power can be viewed by the cyclist using a wirelessly connected user interface device.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2017Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: LEVEL ENGINEERING, INC.Inventors: Christopher R. Patent number: 10584988Abstract: Embodiments relate to estimating river discharge and depth. Initially, observed velocities are used to generate a maximum velocity streamline for a river section, which is then used with an observed shoreline to construct a streamline curvilinear grid. The grid is used to interpolate scattered velocity data points, which are used with a bottom friction of the river section to approximate mean total head slope values. A least squares minimization scheme is applied to a velocity-slope relationship to estimate a bottom friction and discharge coefficient by fitting a difference in the predicted mean total head elevation values between upstream and downstream ends of the river section to a respective ?-average of the measured total head values of the river section. Discharge of the river section is determined based on the coefficient and a velocity-depth relationship and then used to generate a river forecast.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2017Date of Patent: March 10, 2020Assignee: The Government of the United States of America, as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Julian A. Patent number: 10534076Abstract: Shear waves are generated and measured in viscoelastic phantoms by a single push beam. Using numerical simulations or an analytical function to describe the diffraction of the shear wave, the resulting shear wave motion induced by the applied push beam is calculated with different shear elasticity values and then convolved with a separate expression that describes the effects of viscosity value for the medium. The optimization algorithm chooses the tissue parameters which provide the smallest difference between the measured shear waveform and the simulated shear waveform. A shear viscosity image is generated by applying such optimization procedure at all of the observation points.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2016Date of Patent: January 14, 2020Assignees: Board of Trustees of Michigan State University, Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and ResearchInventors: Robert J. Patent number: 10525763Abstract: The flat foil printing press comprises an evacuable back-pressure plate (9), with suction regions (15k) which run in the sheet running direction (X) and which are next to embossing regions (16k), in which foil webs (6k) run. The suction regions are subdivided into several suction segments (10i) which are successive in the sheet running direction, and are each connected to a vacuum source (14) by way of a vacuum feed line (12i) via a vacuum switching element (13i). With the running-out of an embossed sheet (5), firstly all suction segments (10i) covered by the sheet are evacuated, and subsequently the suction segments which are no longer covered by the sheet are successively disconnected from the vacuum source. This results in an error-free separation of foil webs and sheets, for a greater picture quality and machine output.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 2015Date of Patent: January 7, 2020Assignee: Gietz AGInventor: Marc Günther Brendle

Patent number: 10502672Abstract: The properties of a fluid body in the form of a surface-attached droplet/bubble can be determined. A data set is stored describing a plurality of droplets/bubbles of different shapes; each shape is captured as a combination of two or more linear dimensional measurements. For each shape the data set includes one or more parameters describing the relationship between the physical properties of a pair of fluids capable of forming that shape as a surface-attached droplet/bubble disposed in a surrounding fluid medium. A fluid body is provided in the form of a surface-attached droplet/bubble and a plurality of linear dimensional measurements are taken and provided as input to a processing apparatus. Processing apparatus determines from the data set the one or more parameters associated with the shape described by said linear dimensional measurements. Particular the surface tension of a fluid can be found in this way based on simple dimensional measurements.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2015Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Assignee: The Provost, Fellows, Foundation Scholars, & the Other Members of Board, of the College of the Holy & Un-Div.
