Abstract: Operations, administration and management (OAM) functions in a passive optical network (PON) can be performed by providing a system of flow points (i.e., software entities), such as those along the lines of the Maintenance End Points (MEPs) and Maintenance Intermediate Points (MIPs) described in the IEEE 802.1ag specification, which communicate connectivity fault test messages with each other. The flow points can be provided in the Optical Line Terminal (OLT) and Optical Network Terminator (ONT). Alternatively or in addition, flow points can be provided in a subscriber gateway coupled to the ONT. The flow points issue test messages, to which other flow points can respond with information regarding the state of network connectivity.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for synchronizing a terminal with a frequency from an ordered initial sequence of frequencies of a radio-communications network. An available power spectrum associates to each frequency of the initial sequence a power value representing the power with which the frequency is received by the terminal. At least one first range of consecutive frequencies is determined within the initial sequence, having a power variation below a first predetermined threshold. The terminal attempts at least one first synchronization with a frequency of the first range. If each first synchronization fails, the terminal obtains a modified sequence by modifying the position of the frequency or frequencies of the at least one first range of the initial sequence or by eliminating the at least one first range. The terminal then attempts a second synchronization with at least one of the frequencies of the modified sequence.

Abstract: The invention includes a method and apparatus for scheduling multicast transmissions in a wireless network by selecting one of a plurality of multicast groups of a cellular region that is permitted to transmit information during a current timeslot. A method includes receiving data rate request values from wireless user terminals of each of a plurality of multicast groups, assigning a data rate to each multicast group using the data rate request values of wireless user terminals belonging to the respective multicast groups, selecting one of the multicast groups using the assigned data rates, and transmitting information to the selected one of the multicast groups at the associated assigned data rate. In one embodiment, the multicast scheduling algorithm may be a multicast proportional fairness (MPF) scheduling algorithm which attempts to maximize utility value of data received by individual users.

Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for resource block-specific control signaling in a communication system. Communication data is transmitted using a transmission channel comprising a plurality of resource blocks defined by allocating time-frequency slots in a transmission resource. Resource block control information is transmitted in a “feed-forward” manner to a user end (UE) or group of UEs using channels physically mapped into scheduled resource blocks (RBs) for that user or group of users. Embodiments of the invention provide an RB-specific control channel that comprises RB control elements that are embedded within scheduled resource blocks. The invention, therefore, reduces the amount of control information that must be transmitted by common or shared control channels.

Abstract: A method of regulating traffic in a telecommunications network, including the following steps: after the network receives an initial registration request, and if the network is capable of processing said initial registration request, it prescribes for the terminal that sent the request a registration refresh period randomly selected from a range defined by a predetermined minimum value (PREImin) and a predetermined maximum value (PREImax), and after the network receives a registration refresh request, it prescribes for the terminal that sent the request a registration refresh period equal to the value (PRE) provided for normal operation of the network.
Abstract: A method comprising establishing a wireless link with at least one endpoint. The wireless link comprises at least one connection. The method also includes determining an application profile associated with a first connection of the wireless link. Abstract: A method and system for service clock transparent transmission in an optical transport network (OTN) are provided. The system includes a service accessing end and an OTN receiving end; the method includes the following steps: the OTN receiving end performs de-mapping operation to an OTN frame after receiving the OTN frame, and performs two-level buffering operation to the service data flow recovered therefrom, a first buffering unit performs a homogenization treatment to the service data flow and then outputs to a second buffering unit, which the second buffering unit outputs the service data flow according to the service clock after receiving the service data flow. After adopting the present invention, it is able to ensure that the quality of the recovered service clock is relatively higher, which meets the customer requirement on the related specification of the service clock.

The header may include an indication of a second modulation rate that will be used to transmit a consolidated payload. The device further transmits the consolidated payload at the second modulation rate. The consolidated payload includes multiple data units. In one embodiment, the consolidated payload includes delimiters with validation fields associated with the various data units.
Abstract: A time-frequency resource allocation planner for planning allocation of time-frequency resources to sustain communication links from a common transmitter (TX) to multiple receivers (RX1, . . . , RXK) in a wireless OFDMA communication system includes a resource block selector configured to select a set (RBS) of time-frequency resource blocks (RB) for transmission of one packet for each communication link. A communication link quality measure provider is configured to determine a gain-to-interference-plus-noise ratio measure (Gk) for each communication link. A transmit power and transmit rate estimator, connected to the resource block selector and the communication link quality measure provider, is configured to jointly estimate, within the selected set of time-frequency resource blocks, transmit power (Pk) and transmit rate (Rk) of the packets as functions of determined gain-to-interference-plus-noise ratio measures, to at least approximately minimize expected transmitter energy consumption.
Abstract: A method of power saving in a wireless local area network is provided. The method is performed by a wireless device that acquires TXOP (transmission opportunity) from an access point (AP), and the TXOP indicates an interval of time when the AP has the right to transmit at least one data block for multi user-multiple input multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmission. The method includes receiving a power saving indicator from the AP, the power saving indicator indicating whether the AP is allowed to enter doze state during the TXOP; and entering the wireless device into the doze state until the end of the TXOP if the power saving indicator indicates an allowance of entering the doze state.

Abstract: A mobile device accumulates energy associated with each of successive PSS transmissions received from a base station. Accumulated energy values may be rescaled by a same number of bits whenever a buffer overflow condition occurs within the accumulation buffer. The mobile device may detect a correct PSS timing hypothesis utilizing the rescaled accumulated energy values within the accumulation buffer. A significant bit such as, for example, the most significant bit (MSB) or one of lesser significant bits, of each of the accumulated energy values may be monitored during the energy accumulation process to detect a buffer overflow condition. The mobile device may determine number of bits for rescaling or right shift each of the accumulated energy values in response to the detected buffer overflow condition. The resulting shifted accumulated energy values may be utilized for PSS detection. Either an integrating or filtering method is utilized during the energy accumulation process.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for efficient decentralized information dissemination in a network are discussed herein. The decentralized information dissemination techniques are based on non-deterministic protocols such as gossip-based protocols. An example method for dissemination of information in a network can include: selecting a destination node from a set of neighboring nodes using a gossip-based protocol; transmitting a message to the destination node; and receiving a feedback response from the destination node. The feedback response can include a level of usefulness of the message to the destination node. In addition, each neighboring node in the set can be associated with a selection weight, and the selection weights can be related to a probability of selecting each neighboring node in the set as the destination node using the gossip-based protocol. Upon receiving the feedback response, the method can include adjusting the selection weight of the destination node based on the feedback response.
