  • Patent number: 10075813
Abstract: A network node for monitoring a mobile asset in a geographical area. The network node is among a number of network nodes disposed in the geographical area that are configured to receive an Internet-of-things (IoT) signal from the mobile asset, and send respective time stamps, each representing a time-of-arrival (TOA) of the IoT signal, to a network aggregation system to generate a time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) from which a geolocation of the mobile asset is generated.

  • Patent number: 10070314
Abstract: An approach is provided for authenticating a user. Geolocations are collected during a first time period and social media interactions are collected during a second time period. Historical data is polled which indicates (1) geolocations whose timestamps indicate locations of a person authorized to access the device within the first time period and (2) social media interactions whose timestamps indicate interactions of the person within the second time period. A question is generated to be relevant to a social media interaction and/or a geolocation included in the historical data. The voice of the user who provided an answer to the question is verified as matching a voice of the person authorized to access the device. The answer is determined to be correct. Based on the matching voices and the answer being correct, the user is authenticated and access to the device by the user is granted.

  • Patent number: 10064125
Abstract: A device and method are provided for concurrently using a plurality of radio access technologies (RATs) to support a wireless-enabled communications session. A set of data is processed at a client node to identify a subset of priority data. The set of data and the subset of priority data are respectively provided to a first and second protocol stack, which correspond to a first and second RAT. The first and second protocol stacks are then used to control the transmission of a first and second set of transmitted data, which in turn respectively comprise the set of data and the subset of priority data. The first and second sets of transmitted data are received by an access node, which uses corresponding first and second protocol stacks to control their reception. The first and second sets of transmitted data are then processed to generate a set of received data.

  • Patent number: 10044436
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for multi-channel satellite calibration. In one aspect, a calibration system can provide a transmit calibration signal based on a reference calibration signal to a satellite. The satellite can transmit back a receive calibration signal that can be obtained by the calibration system. Sub-carriers of the receive calibration signal can be compared with sub-carriers of the reference signal to determine adjustments to transmission properties of antennas of the satellite.

  • Patent number: 10039006
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, identifying a mobile device in communication with a small-cell via managed spectrum, wherein the small-cell is located at a subscriber premises, and wherein the small-cell is in further communication with a mobile network core. Each of a first Internet protocol (IP) address and a second IP address are associated with the mobile device, which accesses network traffic using one of the first IP address, the second IP address or both. Offload traffic associated with the mobile device is identified, wherein the offload traffic is exchanged between the mobile device and the small-cell at the subscriber premises using the managed spectrum. The offload traffic is associated with the first IP address, wherein user data are exchanged between the mobile device and other equipment at the subscriber premises without the user data being exchanged with the network core. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10028249
Abstract: A person may utilize multiple connected devices, such as smart watches, user equipments (UEs), smartphones, tablet computers, and/or the like, which may each be assigned unique phone numbers. Operators may assign a common phone number to the multiple connected devices; however, the phone number is not used in the access stratum path of a radio access technology resulting in multiple paging procedures being performed for the multiple connected devices. In implementations, described herein, a first UE, such as a smartphone, may obtain paging information associated with decoding paging messages for a second UE, such as a smart watch. The first UE may use the paging information to decode a paging message of a combined paging cycle established for the first UE and the second UE, thereby obviating a need for multiple paging cycles for the first UE and the second UE.

  • Patent number: 10028183
Abstract: A method performed by a first network node of a wireless communication network for handling uplink signals sent by a UE. The wireless communication network comprises a serving network node responsible for transmitting downlink signals to the UE, and a non-serving network node capable of receiving uplink signals sent by the UE. The non-serving network node is the first network node and the serving network node is a second network node of the communication network, or vice versa. The method comprises receiving an uplink signal from the UE, measuring signal quality on the received uplink signal, and receiving signal quality information from the second network node regarding signal quality measured by the second network node on the uplink signal received by the second network node, to detect imbalances in experienced signal quality between the first network node and the second network node.

  • Patent number: 10013446
Abstract: The disclosed apparatus, systems, and methods relate to a location query mechanism that can efficiently determine whether a target entity is located within a region of interest (ROI). At a high level, the location query mechanism can be configured to represent a ROI using one or more polygons. The location query mechanism can, in turn, divide (e.g., tessellate) the one or more polygons into sub-polygons. Subsequently, the location query mechanism can use the sub-polygons to build an index system that can efficiently determine whether a particular location is within any of the sub-polygons. Therefore, when a computing device queries whether a particular location is within the region of interest, the location query mechanism can use the index system to determine whether the particular location is within any of the sub-polygons.
