  • Patent number: 8290503
Abstract: Multichannel dynamic frequency selection in wireless networks begins with an access point for a wireless network broadcasting a list of unused channels that are available for communication within the area served by the access point. The various access terminals within this service area receive the broadcast and measure various interference characteristics of each of the channels in the list. The access terminals then send this interference information to the access point, which compiles a matrix of interference information that is associated with the quality of each signal as related to each access terminal. Using this information, the access point selects the appropriate channels to serve the most number of access terminals at the highest possible channel qualities.

  • Patent number: 8280370
Abstract: A method for detecting a neighboring BS interference is provided. The method includes the following steps. A base station (BS) informs a coexistence signaling interval information to a subscriber station (SS) in a wireless access system. The SS obtains a silent period in a coexistence signaling interval from the coexistence signaling interval information, and monitors an interference information from a neighboring BS during the silent period. The SS reports the monitored interference information to the BS. A device for detecting a neighboring BS interference, a method for identifying an interferential neighboring BS and a device thereof are further provided. The problem of resource conflict raised when two BSs which originally are not neighboring BSs become neighboring BSs because of changes of a SS's status, or SS's position and environmental conditions, is solved.

  • Patent number: 8275390
Abstract: The present invention provides systems and methods are provided to allow a network device to simultaneously monitor multiple adjacent wireless physical layer channels. If network communications are discovered on an adjacent channel, the network device may move to this adjacent channel. Accordingly, the network device is able to discover other devices or services existing on the adjacent channel, and is able to avoid interference caused by adjacent channels coexisting on the same frequency bands. After moving to the adjacent channel, a standard MAC protocol is able to regulate channel excess amongst all the network devices coexisting on the new channel.

  • Patent number: 8260283
Abstract: A native application includes codeset information. The native application, if loaded into a cellular telephone, allows the cellular telephone and a novel associated Operational Signal Generating Device (OSGD) to be usable as a remote control device. An on-line media store provides the native application for purchase and download. A user uses the cellular telephone to download the native application into the cellular telephone. The codeset information is transferred into the OSGD. The OSGD has a mechanism for using codeset information to generate IR operational signals of the type used to control electronic consumer devices. Execution of the native application causes a keypad to appear on the cellular telephone display. If the user presses a key of the keypad, the cellular telephone detects the key press and sends a communication to the OSGD which causes the OSGD to use the codeset information to generate and transmit an appropriate IR operational signal.

  • Patent number: 8116736
Abstract: Access verification is adaptively done using an identifier of a first or a second length, by comparing a field of a node address that has the determined first or second length against a locally stored access list. At least the compared field of the node address is either added to a locally stored list of cell selection candidate nodes where the access list is allowed identifiers, or excluded from it where the access list is restricted identifiers. The node identifier is in three sections. The first section is service type, which the UE can use to determine whether or not it is restricted/allowed. The first length is the length of the second section, which is a service area ID of a group of network nodes. The second length is the length of the second section plus the third section, which identifies one node of the group of network nodes.
