  • Patent number: 8090401
Abstract: The invention is a virtual gateway that mediates between a dual-mode subscriber device and an IP-based PBX. In particular, the virtual gateway includes a WLAN interface for communicating with the dual-mode subscriber device and a network interface (wired or wireless) for communicating with the IP-based PBX over the Internet. As such, the virtual gateway may relay voice and call control instructions between the dual-mode subscriber device and the IP-based PBX, and may provide the same call control functions to the dual-mode subscriber device provided by the call control processor in existing dual-mode phones. The invention further provides a dual-mode subscriber device suitable for operation with the virtual gateway. Because the dual-mode subscriber device does not require a call control processor, the battery life and cost of the device are significantly improved.

  • Patent number: 8078167
Abstract: A mobility management analysis architecture for call management. Systems and methods are provided for routing of a landline-mobile and mobile-mobile call using a switching network (landline or mobile originating) to serve effectively as the “GMSC/tandem” switching layer for the mobile network, as well as for mobile-mobile calls using an originating switch. When a landline switch issues an local number portability (LNP) query, the response to the query can be intercepted by a preliminary mobility management platform that determines a location routing number (LRN) for a visited mobile switching center (V-MSC) to which a destination mobile handset is currently attached. The LRN for that V-MSC is returned in the LNP response to the switch, which then routes the call to the serving V-MSC based on the LRN. The V-MSC then performs the GMSC (gateway mobile switching center) functionality, for example, for that particular call.

  • Patent number: 8064881
Abstract: A system and method for providing wireless services. One or more wireless identifiers are stored in an authentication space of a server associated with a wireless service provider. The authentication space is associated with an enterprise. A remote client is granted access to the authentication space to allow the enterprise to manage services associated with the one or more wireless identifiers. Managed service options associated with the one or more identifiers are selected. The managed service options are selected in response to receiving data from the remote client.

  • Patent number: 8064882
Abstract: In one embodiment, while being connected to the network, a security issue may be detected and associated with the device. The device may be placed on a blacklist for the security issue. The blacklist is a list that is used to deny service for the device when it attempts to connect. Thus, the device is disconnected from the network. Identification information for the device is added to the blacklist at the authentication server. If the device attempts to reconnect to the network, the request is received at the authentication server. The authentication server can then check the blacklist and deny the request for access to the network if the identification information is on the blacklist. This denial is determined without sending the request to the HLR. Accordingly, the HLR is protected in that requests from a device that may be considered a security issue are not sent to the HLR.

  • Patent number: 8045970
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention disclose a gateway for remote control and system as well as a method for implementing remote control. The user side calls a telephone number to which the gateway for remote control corresponds, and the gateway for remote control puts through the call and controls a controlled device according to the information from the user side. It is possible to know and control the controlled device of the local network through the gateway for remote control that need not be online all the time. The voice prompt is defined by the own internal device of the local network, so as to enhance the expansibility and compatibility of the gateway. The user can directly control the device of the network through dialing a phone number. Embodiments of the invention are not restricted by the area, and the expense thereof is very low.

  • Patent number: 8045955
Abstract: A method for providing an implicit emergency registration set is disclosed. The method can include initiating an identifier selection procedure. The method can also include identifying whether a user has a dedicated emergency telephone uniform resource identifier (tel URI), and, if so, selecting it. The method can further include identifying, when the user does not have a dedicated emergency tel URI, whether the user's internet protocol (IP) multimedia private identity (IMPI) is known. The method can additionally include identifying, when the user's IMPI is known, whether the user's IMPI has a non-shared tel URI, and, if so, selecting it, but otherwise selecting a tel URI of the user's IMPI. The method can also include identifying, when the user's IMPI is not known, whether a shared tel URI is available, and selecting it if it is, otherwise selecting a tel URI from a non-shared set.

  • Patent number: 7957739
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for signaling network sharing information about neighbor cells in an NS system where a RAN is shared among a plurality of CN operators. In the signaling method, it is determined whether each of neighbor cells of a current cell in which a UE is located, is shared by a CN operator other than a CN operator controlling the neighbor cell. System information without network sharing information is generated if at least one of the neighbor cells is shared by a CN operator other than a CN operator controlling the neighbor cell. System information including the network sharing information is generated if none of the neighbor cells are shared by any CN operator other than CN operators controlling the neighbor cells. The system information is then broadcast to the UE from the current cell.
