Abstract: Method performed by a wireless device (130) operating in a wireless communications network (100) wherein a plurality of beams (121) is transmitted by one or more network nodes (111, 113, 114) in the wireless communications network (100). The wireless device (130) generates (602) a log over a period of time. The log comprises: a) information about a first set of beams (122) in the plurality of beams (121) detected by the wireless device (130), and b) a time of detection. The log comprises the information and the time of detection for both of: i) a first set of time periods when the wireless device (130) was in a connected state in the wireless communications network (100), and ii) a second set of time periods when the wireless device (130) lacked a connection in the wireless communications network (100). The wireless device (130) sends (605) the generated log to a first network node (111).

  • Patent number: 10721722
Abstract: The present disclosure describes various aspects of the implementation and design of Physical Downlink Control Channel (PDCCH) in 5G new radio (NR) applications. Aspects include methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable medium for one or more of multiple PDCCH search spaces, control resource block (CRB), irregular multiple slots or mini-slots grants, or fast control channel signaling for grant-free uplink (UL). For example, different scheduling entities can each have one or two search spaces defined (e.g., common and/or user equipment (UE)-centric search spaces). Also, CRBs can be used as units for PDCCH transmission instead of resource element groups/control channel elements (REGs/CCEs). In addition, irregularities in time domain, frequency domain, or both can be introduced in the granting of resource blocks (RBs) over multiple slots or mini-slots. Moreover, signaling can be used to indicate to a UE configured for grant-free UL the portion of the pool of resources available for grant-free UL.

  • Patent number: 10721656
Abstract: Telecommunication network components configured to manage a handover of a communication session of user equipment from a packet-switched access network to a circuit-switched access network are described herein. The components may receive a handover request from user equipment, allocate circuit-switched access network resources, and request a session transfer. When the session transfer is invalid, e.g., during a pre-establishment phase of a communication session, the components may reject the transfer within a selected time and provide an invalid-handover message. Components may, in response to an invalid handover request, transmit a rejection of the session transfer and a fallback-trigger message.

  • Patent number: 10708855
Abstract: An LTE network extension (LNE) system includes an LTE access gateway (LAG) and a provisioned database. A plurality of LTE access radios in the LNE system broadcast the same shared PLMN ID (sPLMN ID). The sPLMN ID corresponds to a plurality of service provider core networks, each with a different PLMN. The provisioned database includes information identifying which networks are allowed to use the LNE system and includes service provider network address information. An LTE access radio, transmitting the sPLMN ID detects an attach request from a UE, and forwards the attach request to the LAG, which decides if access is to be allowed, based on a service provider home network PLMN included in an IMSI in the attach request and information in the provisioned database. If access is allowed, the LAG serves as a proxy between the LTE access radio and the UE's service provider home network.

  • Patent number: 10660104
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein provide for coordination of inactivity procedures between wireless stations in a multi-RAT dual connectivity scenario. A wireless station identifies, for an end device, a multi-radio access technology (RAT) dual connectivity scenario with dedicated bearers and detects inactivity for a bearer using the master wireless station. In response to the detecting, the master wireless station sends, to a secondary wireless station, an inactivity status check for another bearer of the multi-RAT dual connectivity scenario. When a response to the inactivity status check is received from the secondary wireless station within a designated time window, the master wireless station waits for a release request from the secondary wireless station and initiates an inactivity procedure for the end device when the release request is received.

  • Patent number: 10645204
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for employing the management and control system of a network to dynamically recover from a split-brain condition in the edge nodes of the network. The method of some embodiments takes a corrective action to automatically recover from a split-brain failure occurred at a pair of high availability (HA) edge nodes of the network. The HA edge nodes include an active machine and a standby machine. The active edge node actively passes through the network traffic (e.g., north-south traffic for a logical network), while the standby edge node is synchronized and ready to transition to the active state, should a failure occur. Both HA nodes share the same configuration settings and only one is active until a path, link, or system failure occurs. The active edge node also provides stateful services (e.g., stateful firewall, load balancing, etc.) to the data compute nodes of the network.

  • Patent number: 10623340
Abstract: Certain features relate to improving the link-fault tolerance in a distributed antenna system (DAS) by utilizing a series of synchronous communication frames. A receiving remote unit or a head-end unit in the DAS can predict the start of incoming communication frames based on frame information extracted from previously received communication frames. For example, a remote unit can be configured to receive one or more communication frames, each of the one or more communication frames including a start-of-frame field. After a period of time corresponding to the frame repetition rate, the remote unit can search for an additional start-of-frame field, indicating the receipt of the next communication frame. The remote unit can extract the payload data from the next communication frame based on the predicted value for the additional start-of-frame field.

  • Patent number: 10616897
Abstract: A wireless access point wirelessly exchanges user data with a Radio Access Network (RAN). The RAN comprises multiple wireless relays that wirelessly exchange the user data with multiple wireless user devices based on individual relay data thresholds. The wireless access point determines individual amounts of the wireless user devices served by individual wireless relays. The wireless access point ranks the wireless relays based on the amounts of wireless user devices. The wireless access point assigns individual relay data thresholds to the wireless relays based on the ranking. Higher-loaded wireless relays are assigned higher data thresholds than lower-loaded wireless relays. The wireless relays wirelessly exchange additional user data with the wireless user devices based on the assigned relay data thresholds.
