  • Patent number: 10306690
Abstract: Embodiments include apparatuses, methods, and systems including a communication device having a first transceiver to communicate with a first device through a first communication link, and a second transceiver to communicate with a second device through a second communication link. In addition, there may be a third communication link between the first device and the second device. For the communication device, the second transceiver may consume less power for the second communication link than a power the first transceiver consumes to communicate through the first communication link. The communication device may communicate a traffic with the first device via the second device, through the second and third communication links, using the second transceiver. Other embodiments may also be described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 10298510
Abstract: The data transmission rate (DTR) of a data devices (12) connected to a data transmission service is controlled to be within an authorized collective DTR for the data devices, such as the authorized total DTR for a customer. The data devices transfer data to and/or from a data storage system (20) through front end hosts (16). The front end hosts send messages to a controller (22A) reporting the amount of data transferred and the data devices responsible for the data transfer. The controller determines whether the data devices are exceeding the authorized collective DTR and, if so, directs the front end hosts to increase the latency or delay before a front end host acknowledges receipt of data from the data devices and/or to decrease the buffer size in the front end host with respect to those data devices. This brings the DTR within the authorized collective DTR.

  • Patent number: 10277453
Abstract: Various example embodiments are disclosed herein. A technique is provided for controlling a response by a mobile station (MS) to a radio link failure detected by the MS in a dual connectivity wireless network in which the MS is connected to both a master base station (master BS) associated with a primary cell and a secondary base station (secondary BS) associated with a secondary cell. The MS may detect a radio link failure for a radio link between the MS and the secondary BS. In response to detecting the radio link failure, the MS may perform one of several preconfigured responses, or the MS may notify the master BS of the radio link failure, receive an instruction from the master BS, and then perform operations or respond to the radio link failure according to the received instruction.

  • Patent number: 10257072
Abstract: A plurality of paths through a network are determined for transmitting a packet from a source device to a destination device. The paths are modelled as nodes in a Random Neural Network, each node corresponding to a path and a reward is calculated for each of the nodes. An excitatory weight and an inhibitory weight are determined for each of the nodes in the Random Neural Network. The excitatory weight is set directly proportional to the reward corresponding to the node for which the excitatory weight is being determined, and the inhibitory weight is set inversely proportional to the reward corresponding to the node for which the inhibitory weight is being determined. A potential is determined for each of the nodes based upon the excitatory and inhibitory weights. A path corresponding to the node with the highest potential is selected, and the packet is transmitted over the selected path.

  • Patent number: 10237123
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method for employing the management and control system of a network to dynamically recover from a split-brain condition in the edge nodes of the network. The method of some embodiments takes a corrective action to automatically recover from a split-brain failure occurred at a pair of high availability (HA) edge nodes of the network. The HA edge nodes include an active machine and a standby machine. The active edge node actively passes through the network traffic (e.g., north-south traffic for a logical network), while the standby edge node is synchronized and ready to transition to the active state, should a failure occur. Both HA nodes share the same configuration settings and only one is active until a path, link, or system failure occurs. The active edge node also provides stateful services (e.g., stateful firewall, load balancing, etc.) to the data compute nodes of the network.

  • Patent number: 10212071
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method that allows a first data compute node (DCN) to forward outgoing traffic to a second DCN directly in spite of receiving the incoming traffic from the second DCN through a load balancer. That is, the return traffic's network path from the first DCN to the second DCN bypasses the load balancer, even though a request that initiated the return traffic is received through the load balancer. The method receives a first data message from a load balancer to be sent to a DCN. After identifying a particular address embedded in the data message by the load balancer, the method generates a table entry, based on source and destination addresses of the data message and the identified address. This entry is used for modifying a source address of a subsequent data message received from the DCN in response to the data message.

  • Patent number: 10193665
Abstract: A user equipment device obtains a first measurement using a first CSI-RS sub-resource and a second measurement using a second CSI-RS sub-resource. The user device derives a single CSI-process based on the first and the second measurements and reports the CSI-process to a base station. The user device receives a message from the base station configuring the first and second CSI-RS sub-resources corresponding to the single CSI-process to be reported by the user device. The message from the base station comprises a configuration of the first CSI-RS sub-resource and a separate configuration of the second CSI-RS sub-resource. The configuration of each CSI-RS sub-resource comprises, for the corresponding CSI-RS sub-resource, at least a CSI-RS sub-resource index, a periodicity, and an offset. The user device may alternatively obtain measurements using any number of CSI-RS sub-resources and then derive and report a single CSI-process based on the plurality of measurements.
