Abstract: The system and methods described herein provided storyline summaries of missed content to users timed to reduce interruptions of content. A summary application detects missed content, that comprises a plurality of storylines. The summary application also identifies a storyline of current content being generated for presentation and retrieves a storyline-specific summary of a portion of the missed content comprising the current storyline. The summary application then generates, for presentation, the retrieved storyline-specific summary.

Abstract: A system that handles delivery of a service through a client device or a secondary device paired with the client device, includes an interactive service provider and the client device. The interactive service provider inserts at least one of digital watermarks, fingerprints, and trigger identifiers at event opportunities in media content. The client device detects at least one of the inserted digital watermarks, the digital fingerprints, and the inserted trigger identifiers in the media content. The client device further renders overlay graphics on the media content and activates at least one of input devices in vicinity of the client device or the rendered overlay graphics. The client device receives trigger responses over an activated overlay graphic, via the activated input devices. The client device further displays an interactive view on the client device, to enable delivery of services in response to the received trigger responses.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for determining boundaries within a content asset. A server may collect user interaction data for one or more content assets. Using the user interaction data, the server may determine commercial breaks or scene changes for the content asset. The server may apply best fit curves to the user interaction data, and determine commercial breaks or scene changes based on the best fit curves.

The disclosed techniques include sending message data comprising a comment on a video item by a first client computing device when the first client computing device is in a first state among a plurality of states; receiving bullet screen data comprising comments on the video item sent by the first client computing device and other client computing devices; determining echo bullet screens comprising a plurality of comments on the video item sent by the other client computing devices during a predetermined period; and displaying a bullet screen comprising the comment sent by the first client computing device and the echo bullet screens.

Abstract: An Event Streams ‘event’ which contains information about ads is sent via ATSC 3.0 to a receiver player along with an xlinkResolution signal. This information includes but is not limited to time stamps for when the ads will start and stop. When this xlinkResolution is sent to the receiver player, the receiver player sends a notification to a broadcaster app containing the information about start and stop time for presenting the ad. Using this information, the broadcaster app updates itself so that, for example, the broadcaster app can present a message on a user interface regarding the subject of the ad, or present content related to but different from the ad along with the ad itself.

In particular, content may be transmitted in transport stream (TS) format in which all packets are encrypted (e.g., using a cipher block chain), in which control packets are exempted from encryption (e.g., using an electronic codebook), or in any other manner.

Abstract: A variety of device interfaces may be connected to a test platform in a fast and efficient manner using multi-pin cables and connectors to support high-volume processing of devices to be tested. The multi-pin cables and connectors may aggregate a plurality of specific device interfaces into a single cable that can be connected via a connector to a test shelf and via a connector to a test platform, reducing the time to setup for device testing and facilitating high-volume processing of devices to be tested.

Abstract: Prediction models for managing viewership data are disclosed. An amount of time users are displayed content is initially obtained. The obtained amounts may be for each content distributor that distributes channels, for each of the channels with respect to which sets of content are displayed, for each of the sets that comprises content displayed during past periods, and for each of the displayed content. A set of features associated with each of the displays is obtained and a target period is selected from among the past periods. A model is used to predict an amount of time users were displayed content during the target period, for each of the sets, channels, and distributors, based on the obtained sets of features associated with the displays during the target period and on the obtained amounts for the displays during the past periods that precede the target period.

Abstract: Method of generating customized graphics based on location information includes processor receiving location information including location of first client device. Processor causes a status interface to be displayed on the first client device that includes locations that are within a predetermined distance from the first client device. Processor generates a country selectable item, a city selectable item, and timeline selectable items and causes passport interface to be displayed on the first client device.

Abstract: A log file including prediction information specifying a local advertisement content allocation amount and a general advertisement content allocation amount over a predetermined duration of time is received. A chronological schedule designating media content spots and advertising spots for the predetermined duration of time is also received. It is determined that a sold amount of local advertisement content during a particular time period, which is less than the predetermined duration of time, is insufficient to fill the local allocation during that time period, A portion of the local allocation is reallocated to the general allocation for the particular time period, while leaving the local and general allocation amounts unchanged over the predetermined duration of time. A program log is generated in accordance with the prediction information and the reallocating.

The signal splitting device includes a circuit board that is disposed in a cover of the CATV passive apparatus, and a first connecting terminal and a second connecting terminal that are mounted to the circuit board and that are connected respectively to input and output terminals of the CATV passive apparatus. Each of the first and second connecting terminals includes a pin electrically connecting the circuit board and the corresponding one of the input and output terminals. Abstract: A system and method for distributing watermarked media content assets in which a main track of a media content asset includes a first watermarking payload and at least one variant track includes a second watermarking payload. A plurality of composite segments of the media content asset are generated for distribution, wherein each composite segment includes a portion of the main track and may include a corresponding portion of at least one variant track. The composite segments may be uploaded to a delivery node operative to deliver segments responsive to a unique watermarking signature provided by a client controller operating in conjunction with a watermarking session manager.

Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for monitoring data transmitted and/or received via multicast transmission and, based on latency, segment loss, and/or other occurrence, modifying sources and/or other characteristics of additional data transmission. The data may be video segments of media content items. Sources of video segments can be changed based on comparisons of rates of arrival of video segments, failure to receive segments, etc. Selection of an encoded version of content for multicast and/or unicast transmission may be based on indications of delay and/or non-receipt, and/or based on predictions of increased load on a network.

Abstract: An automated test platform is disclosed for use in developing and troubleshooting customized software for multimedia content receivers. The automated test platform allows developers to script test cases that permit interaction with multiple content receivers at the same time. The test platform can be applied generally to any client-server system. The automated test platform is used to create scripts, run the scripts on multiple content receivers, and view test results. A graphical user interface (GUI) is provided that allows technicians without any programming experience to build and run complex interactive test sequences in a modular fashion. Such an automated test platform can be used to test cable and satellite television set top boxes, as well as DVD players, streaming media receivers, and game consoles.

Abstract: Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. This can enable many new blogging or podcasting-like programs by popular “Hosts” to be self-published on the Internet and readily navigated for display on TV. The EPG can also store TV program addresses as bookmarks and allow them to be shared with other subscribers or with friends and contacts online by sending to their email addresses.
