  • Patent number: 10972806
Abstract: Method of generating customized graphics based on location information includes processor receiving location information including location of first client device. Processor causes a status interface to be displayed on the first client device that includes locations that are within a predetermined distance from the first client device. Processor receives a selection from the first client device of the first location via the status interface and stores the first location in a location database associated with the first user. Location database includes: locations previously selected by the first client device via the status interface, locations associated with media content items received from the first client device, or locations associated with the location information received from the first client device. Processor generates a country selectable item, a city selectable item, and timeline selectable items and causes passport interface to be displayed on the first client device.

  • Patent number: 10958954
Abstract: Systems and methods for broadcasting a video stream are disclosed. The systems and methods can receive a video stream from a broadcaster, process the video steam, store the video streaming, and deliver the video stream to a viewer as a live video stream or a video on demand. The viewer may use an access token to access the video stream. The systems and methods may include an error detection mechanism for detecting an interrupt in the video stream. The systems and methods can restore the access token to its original state if an error is detected. The systems and methods can also include one or more link sharing mechanisms for sharing links to a video stream. The shareable links may be associated with share tokens.

  • Patent number: 10958948
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for reducing latency in content and content source switching in a digital content delivery network. In one embodiment, linear addressable secondary content is “switched into” primary content within a cloud-based model using one or more latency-reducing techniques so as to minimize the user's perception of delay in performing the switch. In one implementation, secondary content video encodings are selected based on the encoding scheme of the primary content, and open GOPs within the primary content at the content transition point are closed or avoided, each to reduce processing overhead of the recipient client device. In another implementation, otherwise cloud-inaccessible functionality of the client device is accessed to reduce or suspend processing on non-essential tasks to make more processing resources available at the client. In yet another implementation, intelligent RF PHY scheduling of the primary and secondary content are utilized to minimize RF re-tuning by the client.

  • Patent number: 10931986
Abstract: Video content is uploaded via the Internet to a video-on-demand (VOD) server identified by a title and a hierarchical address of categories and subcategories for categorizing the title. The VOD server converts and stores the video content at a storage address in a video content database linked to the title. The title is listed in a location of an electronic program guide (EPG) using the same categories and subcategories as in its hierarchical address. Any TV subscriber can access the EPG and navigate through its categories and subcategories to find a title for viewing on the TV. This can enable many new blogging or podcasting-like programs by popular “Hosts” to be self-published on the Internet and readily navigated for display on TV. The EPG can also store TV program addresses as bookmarks and allow them to be shared with other subscribers or with friends and contacts online by sending to their email addresses.

  • Patent number: 10924184
Abstract: Both a conventional receiver and an HDR-compatible receiver well perform electro-optical conversion processing on transmission video data obtained by using an HDR opto-electronic transfer characteristic. High dynamic range opto-electronic conversion is performed on high dynamic range video data to obtain the transmission video data. Encoding processing is performed on this transmission video data to obtain a video stream. A container of a predetermined format including this video stream is transmitted. Metadata information indicating a standard dynamic range opto-electronic transfer characteristic is inserted into a layer of the video stream, and metadata information indicating a high dynamic range opto-electronic transfer characteristic is inserted into at least one of the layer of the video stream and a layer of the container.

  • Patent number: 10904617
Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for syncing a client device with media content for scene-specific notifications. A computing environment is employed to cause a sync to occur between a client device and media content being rendered by a media device using an audio signal or a video signal captured by the client device during a playback of the media content. A current scene of the media content being rendered on the media device is determined by comparing the audio signal or the video signal to at least one digital fingerprint stored in a data store. The computing environment then identifies content in a plurality of upcoming scenes occurring later in the playback than the current scene by analyzing at least one tag descriptive of the content in the plurality of upcoming scenes.

  • Patent number: 10715851
Abstract: Methods and systems describe providing digitally rights managed audiovisual content in a virtual reality (VR) viewing experience. Audiovisual content may be requested from a content delivery network upon determining that a user of a VR device is associated with an unexpired ticket to access the audiovisual content. The content delivery network generates a playback manifest, which is used by a digital rights management subsystem of the VR device to locate and download the content. A decrypted version of the audiovisual content plays within a graphical processor unit memory, such that the content is displayed on a virtual screen for the user within a VR viewing experience without the application or third party applications having access to the audiovisual content.
