Abstract: Systems and methods disclosed herein include systems and methods for delivery of secondary content to a user device. The secondary content may comprise events synchronized to primary content. In a particular embodiment, the process may include: receiving a request from a user device to access secondary content associated with a primary content; determining whether the user device is entitled to receive the secondary content; and if the user device is entitled to receive the secondary content, providing the secondary content to the user device for the user device to play whenever the user watches the primary content. The secondary content comprises at least one of an audio track, and a subtitle file, and the audio track comprises at least one of an alternate language audio track not provided in the primary content, and an audio track with words omitted from the primary content.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for instantaneous asynchronous media sharing. The method comprises establishing a communication channel between a user device and a server; receiving a media stream object containing a recording of a screen of the user device through the communication channel, as it is recorded; storing the recording to permanent storage as it is received; receiving a publication request at a publication request time; and in response to receiving the publication request, making the recording accessible to one or more viewers within an immediate time frame by generating a complete video file ready for download, wherein the immediate time frame is a time to upload a remaining number of bytes to the server from the publication request time plus a time to complete processing the remaining number of bytes to generate the complete video file. Also disclosed are benefits of the new methods, and alternative embodiments of implementation.

Abstract: Multiple video segments may be obtained from a repository of video segments. A selection of a video segment from the multiple video segments may be received. The selected video segment may be presented at a first resolution via a display. A selection of a point in time during presentation of the video segment may be received to extract a frame set from the video segment at or near the selected point in time. The frame set may include multiple frames, including one frame corresponding to the selected point in time, and other frames that correspond to points in time adjacent to the selected point in time. A selection of a single frame within the frame set may be received. The single frame may be received having a second resolution. The second resolution may be higher than the first resolution. The single frame may be presented via the display.

Abstract: A set top box client in an enhanced television system stores a table associating time references with events. The table is accessed to synchronize the delivery of events to an enhanced television application that is associated with an underlying video program. The enhanced television system delivers broadcast video, video-on-demand and video from a storage component such as a personal video recorder or a digital video disk player. The enhanced television system further provides an application that provides enhancements to an associated video program by overlaying a user interface, by providing overlaid graphical and/or text information or by providing additional audio information.

Abstract: In a cable television system, a specific carrier is assigned to deliver programming content of a program channel to a service area for a period, defined as a function of viewership of the program channel during that period. For example, the program channel is assigned the specific carrier during the time when it has a generally strong viewership. Otherwise, the program channel is assigned a carrier on an as needed basis, i.e., only when one or more subscribers in the service area request such a program channel. Viewing statistics are generated to identify viewership patterns or viewing habits of the subscribers in the service area with respect to a given program channel. In another embodiment, based on the viewing statistics, popular and unpopular programs, program elements, program lineups, program channels are identified on a temporal and/or regional basis.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for provisioning of customer premise equipment (CPE) equipped with a secure microprocessor to receive e.g., digital video content by entering unique identification of the CPE at one or more servers located at the headend or other location of a content-based network. In one embodiment, the CPE comprises a download-enabled (e.g., DCAS) host with embedded cable modem and embedded set-top box functionality, and the provisioning includes enabling DOCSIS functionality of the CPE, assigning an IP address to the CPE and providing the CPE with a client image for the conditional access system chosen by the network operator. In one variant, the network operator can deactivate a provisioned device while connected to the network, as well when disconnected from the network. The network operator can also add, delete or replace conditional access client image in a provisioned device.

Abstract: A first sequence of video fingerprints at a first image repetition rate is compared with a second sequence of video fingerprints at a second, different image repetition rate. A converted sequence of fingerprints is generated from the first or second sequence of fingerprints by forming a combination of the values of a number of neighboring fingerprints. The combination is a weighted average based on the temporal location of the respective neighboring fingerprints in the first sequence of fingerprints with respect to the fingerprint in the converted sequence. A correlation is then performed between the converted sequence of fingerprints and the other sequence of fingerprints.

In response to receiving a pause command, a measure of memorability of a current scene of the media content is determined. In response to receiving a pause command, a measure of memorability of a subsequent scene of the media content is determined. in response to determining that the subsequent scene is more memorable than the current scene, a recommendation is provided to a user to pause the media content after the subsequent scene. In response to determining that the subsequent scene is not more memorable than the current scene, providing of the media content is paused at the current scene.

Abstract: Systems and methods for improved video formats used in delivery and playback are presented. According to an embodiment, the movie package format contains tiers that provide for multiple sets of movie variations that are individually selectable for transfer to a device for local playback. A locally stored movie package may contain any subset of available tiers for a movie. Non-resident tiers can be discovered and downloaded into the movie package as needed or when available. Tiers, and other movie files may be updated or added to the movie package at any time. Then users can request updates or the updates can be pushed to the user without affecting the previously downloaded files.

Abstract: Systems and methods for broadcasting a video stream are disclosed. The systems and methods can receive a video stream from a broadcaster, process the video steam, store the video streaming, and deliver the video stream to a viewer as a live video stream or a video on demand. The viewer may use an access token to access the video stream. The systems and methods may include an error detection mechanism for detecting an interrupt in the video stream. The systems and methods can restore the access token to its original state if an error is detected. The systems and methods can also include one or more link sharing mechanisms for sharing links to a video stream. The shareable links may be associated with share tokens.

Abstract: Devices and methods for routing content are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for routing content include receiving audio data representing a command from a first electronic device, determining content that is associated with the command, sending responsive audio data to the first electronic device, and sending instructions to the second electronic device to output the content associated with the command. In some embodiments, a method for routing contents includes determining a state of the second electronic device and sending instructions to output the content to a selected one of the first and second electronic devices based on the state of the second electronic device.
