  • Patent number: 4741962
Abstract: This invention relates to an optical filter made of inorganic material for blue light which transfers blue light and absorbs all of the other colored lights by sticking an inorganic mixture powder pasted by mixing with screen oil on a glass substrate and firing it. The mixture includes transparent glass material powder and a combination of oxides of cobalt and aluminum. The contrast of a picture displayed on a display device can be substantially increased by reducing the reflection of incident ambient light without the reduction of brightness on account of the application of the above optical filter onto the displaying screen.

  • Patent number: 4740404
Abstract: The waterstop used to prevent passage or leakage of water through a construction joint of concrete is shaped of a plastic or rubber in the form of a continuous-length belt-like form and provided with a water-swellable rubbery layer on at least a portion, or, for example, along the peripheries of the belt-like form, side-by-side coming into contact with the concrete bodies to serve as a water-tight filling of the joint by being swollen with water. The water-swellable rubbery layer is protected temporarily prior to use with a coating film of an alkali-soluble polymeric material which can at least partially be dissolved away by the alkalinity of the water in the concrete joint. The peripheries of the plastic- or rubber-made belt-like form are preferably in a length-wise bulged form having a bore running therethrough to serve as a stress absorber when the water-swellable rubbery layer is swollen with water.

  • Patent number: 4738901
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed for the prevention of unauthorized copying of documentation on an office, or other type, copier. Unique phosphors are applied to paper. When such a paper is placed on or in a copier so prepared, the presence of the phosphor is detected and the copier is disabled. Inside the copier a laser emits a beam toward the paper. Two detectors detect, respectively, the laser light reflected from the document and the stimulated light from the phosphor coating or layer. Detection of both signals, in the proper time sequence, will cause the photocopier to cease operation prior to electrostatic or other capture of the image. Upconversion phosphors could be utilized as the phosphor coating due to their scarcity and unliklihood of use in this manner.

  • Patent number: 4738909
Abstract: Printing screens for the screen printing of garments (e.g. T-shirts and caps) are accurately registered with respect to a printing platen of a printing machine for four color printing, or the like. The equipment utilized for the accurate registration is exceptionally versatile and easy to use, requiring no skilled labor to properly implement it. A kit includes a registration plate having pins upstanding from it, the pins having a predetermined size and spacing; four clamps for engaging a screen frame and each with an extension having openings of the same size and spacing as the pins of the registration plate; and a collar for removable attachment to the printing machine and including upstanding pins of the same size and spacing as the registration plate pins. The collar can be for attachment to a T-shirt platen, cap platen, or printing machine arm. In use four positives are stacked and punched so that they have openings of the same size and spacing as those on the clamp.

  • Patent number: 4737391
Abstract: A heat-shrinkable, multilayer film suitable for use in fabricating bags for packaging primal and sub-primal meat cuts and processed meats. The multilayer film has a first outer layer of a first ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, a core layer of a barrier film as previously described comprising a polyvinylidene chloride vinyl chloride copolymer containing between about 70 weight percent and about 90 weight percent vinylidene chloride, and a second outer layer of a second ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer. The multilayer film is preferably made by co-extrusion of the layers, and then it is biaxially stretched. After biaxial stretching, the multilayer film is irradiated to a dosage level of between 2 megarads and 3 megarads and heat-sealed in the form of a bag. The bag has improved toughness properties and heat-sealing characteristics, and is not significantly discolored by the irradiation.

  • Patent number: 4737395
Abstract: A printed wiring board comprising a plastic material is formed with a through opening for mounting electronic parts therein, and the end of the opening on the rear side of the board is closed by a metal sheet bonded to the area around the opening end on the rear of the board through an adhesive layer. The inside wall and bottom face of the opening in the board are coated with an integral plating film as are the rear surfaces of the board and metal sheet. According to this board structure, the heat generated from electronic parts mounted on the bottom of the opening is dispersed by the metal sheet, and also penetration of moisture into the opening through the plastic material and the adhesive layer, as occurs with conventional boards, is prevented by the plating film.

  • Patent number: 4735847
Abstract: An electrically conductive adhesive sheet is disclosed which has an electrically conducting property across a thickness thereof and an electrically insulating property along a sheet surface direction. The electrically conductive adhesive sheet comprises an electrically insulating adhesive material and electrically conductive metal powder uniformly dispersed therein. The metal powder has a melting point lower than a certain working temperature, and is flattened by application of pressure between a pair of conductors between which the adhesive sheet is provided. The adhesive material is molten at the certain working temperature and is flown by application of pressure. The adhesive sheet is useful to electrically connect a pair of circuit boards each having a plurality of conductor patterns thereon by bonding corresponding ones through the metal powder as molten, while keeping the neighboring patterns insulated. The circuit board is mechanically integrated simultaneously by the adhesive sheet.
