  • Patent number: 10770911
Abstract: Calibrating a battery capacity gage employs a controlled discharge of a backup battery unit. A method of updating a capacity gage includes charging a backup battery unit to a predetermined high charge level. A first amount of energy is discharged from the backup battery unit at a first controlled discharge rate so as to discharge the backup battery unit from the predetermined high charge level to a first low charge level. The backup battery unit is charged back to the predetermined high charge level. A power system controller estimates, based on the first amount of energy and the first controlled discharge rate, a second amount of energy that can be discharged from the backup battery unit at a second controlled discharge rate greater than the first controlled discharge rate. The capacity gage is updated based on the second amount of energy estimated by the power system controller.

  • Patent number: 10739424
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing variability in the output impedance of an integrated switch-mode power amplifier (PA) split the output impedance between passive resistor, which may be on-chip, and a MOSFET switch of the amplifier. The PA may have a single-ended configuration or a differential configuration having two single-ended structures operating with opposite phases. In one implementation, the size of the MOSFET switch is larger than that of the MOSFET switch implemented in a conventional PA, but the size is still acceptable to operate the PA at a desired frequency. In addition, a calibration approach may be utilized to ensure that the MOSFET switch has a controlled and calibrated ON resistance, thereby providing stable output power levels of the PA and ensuring consistency and repeatability in NMR measurements.

  • Patent number: 10720884
Abstract: A quantum efficiency test controller (QETC) and related techniques for measuring quantum efficiency are described. The QETC performs one or more test iterations to obtain test results regarding quantum efficiency of a multijunction photovoltaic device (MPD) having a number N of photovoltaic junctions (N>0), where the QETC is associated with N bias light sources. During a test iteration, the QETC activates a grating monochromator to emit a first test probe of monochromatic light at a first wavelength; and while the grating monochromator is emitting the first test probe, iterates through and activates each of the N bias light sources to emit a corresponding bias band of wavelengths of light. After performing the test iteration(s), the QETC generates an output that is based on the test results related to the quantum efficiency of the MPD.
