Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed to determine a duration of media presentation based on tuning session duration. Example apparatus a receiver to obtain a first tuning session duration indicative of an amount of time between channel changes of a first media presentation device at a first media presentation location, a presentation session estimator to select a model from storage, the model selected based on a match of the first tuning session duration and a second tuning session duration, the model including a relation between the second tuning session duration and a first presentation session duration of media presented on a second media presentation device at a second media presentation location, and estimate a second presentation session duration of media presented within the first tuning session duration based on the model.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for determining a recommended video, a data processing computer server and a system. The computer server determines candidate virtual scenes, users currently participating in the candidate virtual scenes, and a user corresponding to a virtual role in the candidate virtual scenes. After selecting a target virtual scene from the candidate virtual scenes, the computer server determines representation data of virtual roles of the target virtual scene, selects a target virtual role from the virtual roles of the target virtual scene according to the representation data of the virtual roles of the target virtual scene, and generates a recommended video at a viewing angle of the target virtual role in the target virtual scene.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for presenting media content capable of being dynamically adapted. One method involves analyzing content of a media program to identify a replaceable object at a spatial location within the content at a temporal location within the content, analyzing the spatial location of the content corresponding to the replaceable object within the content to identify one or more attributes of the replaceable object, identifying a substitute object based at least in part on the one or more attributes associated with the replaceable object, augmenting the temporal location of the content to include the substitute object at the spatial location within the content in lieu of the replaceable object, and providing the augmented version of the content to a media player for presentation.

Abstract: A computing system detects that a media presentation device such as a television is in a content-selection mode in which a user is likely to select video content to be presented by the media presentation device, at a time when the media presentation device is not using a video-on-demand service. In response, the computing system causes the media presentation device to present a prompt for user approval to have the media presentation device present video content of the video-on-demand service. By presenting this prompt at a time when the media presentation device is in a content-selection mode and is not using the video-on-demand service, the disclosed mechanism can thereby help foster use of the video-on-demand service.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for group-watching video streams. In one aspect the disclosed systems and methods may generate a multi-panel display of the viewers during viewing of the video streams. In another aspect, the systems and methods may capture and create one or more digital asset from viewer-generated content, such as a physical reaction, captured during the to the video stream. The system may generate the digital assets for subsequent use on social media.

Abstract: A system and method for alternate program experience in digital broadcasting multiplexes different time duration-based versions of the currently broadcasted program in the same frequency in a broadcast environment. Every program broadcasted in a SES (Special Experience Services) could have different versions (every version is a separate hidden service) of the same program i.e., tiny version, short version, standard version, main/detailed version, wherein the versions differ in the time duration. While parsing the channel information, the Broadcast Media Receiver will comprehend the presence of SES and different hidden services associated with the SES. Depending on the broadcaster business model or/and the user purchased plan, the user will be presented with the option of viewing and selecting the different versions of the program. Upon selection of the version, the receiver switches to the respective hidden service and thereby start playing the respective version of the program.

Abstract: An input video stream may include primary video content, such as output from a first video game. An indication of a decrease in player activity in the first video game may be detected. A determination may be made, based at least in part on the indication of the decrease in player activity, to replace a portion of the primary video content with secondary video content. The decrease in player activity in the first video game may coincide with an increase in player activity in a second video game. An indication of this increase in player activity may be detected. The second video game may be selected, based at least in part on the indication of the increase in player activity, to provide the secondary video content. An output video stream is provided in which the selected portion of the primary video content is replaced by the secondary video content.

An example apparatus includes memory, instructions, and at least one hardware processor to execute the instructions to at least: obtain presence information from a configuration device, the configuration device separate from the apparatus, the presence information indicating that user is present at the apparatus; verify the presence information matches user information, the user information stored in a memory of the apparatus; cause a confirmation prompt to be displayed on the configuration device, the confirmation prompt to indicate the presence information was obtained by the apparatus; and store the presence information in memory.

Abstract: When a device is playing out a first media stream, the device determines a target time for beginning playout of a second media stream in place of the first media stream. The device then starts a stream-transition process that is expected to take anywhere from a minimum expected transition duration to a maximum expected transition duration, and the device starts the transition process in advance of the determined target time by the maximum expected transition duration, to help ensure timely starting of playout of the second media stream. Further, for an uncertainty period that extends from the minimum expected transition duration after the starting to the maximum expected transition duration after the starting, the device generates and plays a sequence of transition frames to help mask transition from the first media stream to the second media stream.

The first user interface mode may be associated with a first subset of user interface elements of the plurality of user interface elements. The media rendering device generates a graphical user interface (GUI) based on the first subset of user interface elements. The media rendering device controls a display device to display the generated GUI.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for obscuring a presence of a media object in a video after a user fulfills an interaction requirement with a related media object. The system detects, an interaction with a media object and determines characteristics of the interaction. The system correlates characteristic of the interaction with an exclusion window and stores a record that links the exclusion window, user, and attribute of the media object. The system detects that a second media object will be displayed during playback of a video and determines an attribute of the second media object. The system retrieves the record by matching the attribute of the first media object from the record to the attribute of the second media object. In response to determining the exclusion window applies to the second media object, the system obscures the second media object while playing back the video.

An apparatus includes processor circuitry to execute computer readable instructions to at least: identify a candidate household from a plurality of second households to associate with a first household based on an analysis of a first duration of time first media was presented by a first media presentation device and a second duration of time second media was presented by second media presentation devices; match different ones of first panelists of the first household with matching ones of second panelists of the candidate household; and impute respective portions of the first duration of time to the different ones of the first panelists based on portions of the second duration of time for which the matching ones of the second panelists of the candidate household were exposed to the second media.

A satellite network (100) includes a satellite (102) that transmits a satellite transmission (106) to a terrestrial receiver (104), such as a satellite dish. The satellite dish (104) is associated with a UED (108) such as a television with a set top box. The satellite transmission (106) includes a number of MUXs (107). One or more of the MUXs (107) includes a programming channel and associated asset channels. An example method includes determining respective counts for a plurality of measurements during a calibration period, the measurements indicative of an amount of power drawn by the device, determining a first threshold and a second threshold based on at least one of the counts, the first threshold determined using most frequently logged measurement values, the most frequently logged measurement values based on counts performed after expiration of the calibration period, comparing a measurement to the first threshold and to the second threshold, and outputting a positive indication when the measurement is within an acceptable difference range, the acceptable difference range based on the amount of power drawn by the device.

Abstract: A system includes a user interface for allowing a user to select a data stream to be played, a receiver for receiving the data stream to be played and a transmitter for transmitting the received data stream to a device that is capable of playing the stream. The system includes a first and a second device, which are separate from one another. The first device, called a receiving device, integrates the receiver and the transmitter. The second device, called a control device, integrates the user interface and, following the selection, by a user, of a stream to be played and preview on the control device, transmits to the first device a command for playing the selected stream, the command containing data for locating the selected stream. The user interface allowing selection of the stream from content stored on a storage device, the user interface being accessible from the storage device.
