  • Patent number: 11573311
Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described that implement a smart-device-based radar system capable of performing angular estimation using machine learning. In particular, a radar system 102 includes an angle-estimation module 504 that employs machine learning to estimate an angular position of one or more objects (e.g., users). By analyzing an irregular shape of the radar system 102's spatial response across a wide field of view, the angle-estimation module 504 can resolve angular ambiguities that may be present based on the angle to the object or based on a design of the radar system 102 to correctly identify the angular position of the object. Using machine-learning techniques, the radar system 102 can achieve a high probability of detection and a low false-alarm rate for a variety of different antenna element spacings and frequencies.

  • Patent number: 11520035
Abstract: Techniques for determining coherency between composite images having phase and amplitude components are disclosed. The coherency can be determined based on the amplitude components of the images, by providing first and second amplitude images indicative of amplitude values of pixels of a respective first and second composite images, applying to each of the first and second amplitude images a first directional derivative operator and a second directional derivative operator, thereby generating for each of the amplitude images respective first directional derivative image and second directional derivative image thereof, and generating a first coherency map based at least on the directional derivative images of the first and second amplitude images. The first coherency map is indicative of decorrelation between the first and second composite images.

  • Patent number: 11448753
Abstract: Described is a system for transferring learned knowledge from an electro-optical (EO) domain to a synthetic-aperture-radar (SAR) domain. The system uses a measured similarity between the EO domain and the SAR domain to train a model for classifying SAR images using knowledge previously learned from the electro-optical (EO) domain. Using the trained model, a SAR image is processed to determine regions of interest in the SAR image. A region of interest is classified to determine whether the region of interest corresponds to an object of interest, and classified regions of interest that contain the object of interest are output. The object of interest is displayed on a visualization map, and the visualization map is automatically updated to reflect a change in position of the object of interest.

  • Patent number: 11404779
Abstract: Aspects of this disclosure relate to systems and methods for calibration of antenna arrays. The calibration may be based on determining a reference value for the beamformer derived from measurements of phase and/or amplitude for each channel within the beamformer. The measurements of phase and/or amplitude can be stored in non-volatile memory. Using a difference between the reference value and the measured values for each channel, a portion of a global configuration table may be copied to each channel's memory. Each channel can be separately calibrated based on the portion of the global configuration table copied to the local memory of each channel.
