Abstract: Some embodiments allow a video editor to spatially and temporally align two or more video sequences into a single video sequence. As used in this application, a video sequence is a set of images (e.g., a set of video frames or fields). A video sequence can be from any media, such as broadcast media or recording media (e.g., camera, film, DVD, etc.). Some embodiments are implemented in a video editing application that has a user selectable alignment operation, which when selected aligns two or more video sequences. In some embodiments, the alignment operation identifies a set of pixels in one image (i.e., a “first” image) of a first video sequence and another image (i.e., a “second” image) of a second video sequence. The alignment operation defines a motion function that describes the motion of the set of pixels between the first and second images. The operation then defines an objective function based on the motion function. The operation finds an optimal solution for the objective function.

Abstract: Various videolization solutions are provided. A method for generating video is provided according to an example. The method includes obtaining one or more data portions and generating a customizable video using the one or more data portions and using one or more video generation templates; determining one or more selectable objects in the customizable video using one or more object definitions; receiving an indication indicating a user selection of at least one selectable object corresponding to an object definition; obtaining additional data portions related to the at least one selectable object corresponding to the indication; and regenerating the customizable video using the additional data portions and the one or more data portions corresponding to the indication.

Abstract: A playback device is provided that includes a readout unit that reads out data recorded in a recording medium and a playback unit. Data including a digital stream file obtained by encoding video information is recorded in the recording medium. A recording region of the recording medium has a first recording region where reading is performed at a first read rate, and a second recording region where reading is performed at a second read rate that is faster than the first read rate. In a file system, the data is classified into the digital stream file having real-time attributes and a data file having non-real-time attributes, wherein the data file read in during playback of the digital stream file is recorded in the same recording region where the digital stream file being played is recorded. The readout unit reads out the data without changing the first or second read rate.

Abstract: There is provided a method, apparatus and system for indexing content based on relative time information. The method, apparatus and system include determining relative time information of at least one of a time interval of at least a portion of the content and an event occurring in the content, generating time metadata that indexes in absolute time the determined relative time information and communicating the time metadata for storage. The method, apparatus and system can further include receiving a request for the at least one of a time interval of at least a portion of the content and an event occurring in the content, the request identifying a desired content portion using relative time information, using the time metadata to determine a portion of the content relative to the time information and communicating the content portion relative to the time information to a requester.

Abstract: The present inventive subject matter is drawn to method, system, and apparatus for generating video content related to an audio media asset. In one aspect of this invention, a method for operating a kinetic typography service on the audio media asset stored in a computer memory is presented, where a set of subtitle items belonging to the audio media asset is obtained; a plurality of preset animation items are produced; generating a plurality of video frames by applying a transformation effect of a preset animation to a corresponding subtitle item; and producing a video media asset.

The video recording and reproduction unit includes an image-size setting unit that reduces a size of a screen of the input video signal according to a multi-display configuration.

Abstract: A method of performing time-shift function and television receiver having a tuner and a personal video recorder for storing broadcast programs of at least one channel enables a broadcast program of a currently tuned channel to be continuously and efficiently stored to enable time-shifting, regardless of an interruption by switching channels or changing input sources or even in the case of an inadvertent power-off condition.

Abstract: A stereoscopic control method includes: establishing a specific mapping relation between a specific disparity value and a specific set of a first focal setting value of a first sensor of a stereo camera and a second focal setting value of a second sensor of the stereo camera; and controlling stereoscopic focus of the stereo camera according to the specific mapping relation. Besides, a stereoscopic control apparatus includes a mapping unit and a focus control unit. The mapping unit is arranged for establishing at least a specific mapping relation between a specific disparity value and a specific set of a first focal setting value of a first sensor of a stereo camera and a second focal setting value of a second sensor of the stereo camera. The focus control unit is arranged for controlling stereoscopic focus of the stereo camera according to the specific mapping relation.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for automatically displaying variable image content in an image product includes automatically obtaining markers in photos or videos in a user account which includes detecting features in image content of the photos or the video frames and obtaining a marker for one of the photos or the video frames, automatically identifying a sequence of similar photos or videos if the markers detected in the photos or the associated video frames include more than a predetermined number or percentage of common features, detecting a marker in a photo product by a user device when the photo product is viewed by the user device, identifying a marked photo incorporated in the photo product based on the marker detected in the photo product, and enabling photos or videos in a sequence photos or videos associated with the marked photo to be displayed on the user device.

Abstract: Digital content, such as movies, television productions, and the like are processed and delivered based upon digital masters. The masters may be produced as the initial content, or any other content may be digitized to create the masters. An HD full aperture version is used to create a reduced set of masters that can be used to fill orders having a wide range of features and options. The HD full aperture version is combined with pan and scanned instructions parsed from original pan and scan files to permit automatic creation of the basic masters used to fill the orders, such as a letter box version, a 16:9 FF version, and a 4:3 FF version. The derived masters may be HD versions or SD versions. Upon receipt of orders, the proper version is selected and assembled with any other components that may be ordered by the customer. Ingestion of the masters may be delayed until order reception, and transcoding of the original master may also be delayed until order reception.

The image display for providing a 3D image according to a glass-free scheme on the basis of binocular disparity includes: a display unit configured to display a 3D image on a screen; a sensing unit configured to sense whether an event in relation to a change in a disposition direction of a layer generating binocular disparity corresponding to the 3D image and a change in a rendering scheme corresponding to the 3D image; and a control unit configured to change the disposition direction of the layer and the rendering scheme corresponding to the 3D image on the basis of the event.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the reproduction, through an audio/visual means, of a film and an apparatus for the reproduction of the same. More particularly, the method according to the present invention allows more viewings of the same film such that the film itself is automatically composed as to be different at each viewing. The method for the reproduction of a film is finalized to the creation of a “multifilm”, i.e. a film that changes its plot in every reproduction.

Abstract: The present invention surveils a ship and automatically detects movement around a ship such as, for example, a man overboard condition. Detection is achieved using a continually scanning set of lasers that cooperate with long-wave infrared thermal imaging cameras that are used to classify the movement. If a MOB event is determined, an alarm is then initiated on the bridge of the ship.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for combining metadata with video into a video stream using a 32-bit aligned payload, that is computer storage efficient and human discernable. The metadata is stored in a track in a self-describing structure. Metadata track may be decoded using an identifier reference table that is substantially smaller than typical fourCC identifier tables. The combined metadata/video stream is compatible with a standard video stream convention and may be played using conventional media player applications that reads media files compliant with MP4/MOV container format. The proposed format may enable decoding of metadata during streaming, partitioning of combined video stream without loss of metadata. The proposed format and/or metadata protocol provides for temporal synchronization of metadata with video frames.

Abstract: A method for security and/or automation systems is described. In one embodiment, the method may include receiving a plurality of video footage at a home automation system from at least one video monitor. The method may further include reviewing the plurality of video footage recorded over a predetermined period of time. The method may further include automatically identifying at least one distinguishing feature in the video footage over the predetermined period of time, and automatically indexing the video footage based, at least in part, on identifying the at least one distinguishing feature in the video footage.

Abstract: Providing a method for creating and displaying portions of videos called video previews. The video previews may be associated with audio, such that when the video previews are activated, the audio may play with the video preview. When multiple video previews are organized to play as a playable group or composite of video previews, a corresponding composite audio file can play in response to an activation of the composite.

Abstract: A method of storing and outputting associated audio. The associated audio and the main audio are stored in, and output from, a single multimedia container. In this manner, when the main language is changed, the associated audio automatically changes with minimal audio artifacts.
