  • Patent number: 8417086
Abstract: While viewing and listening to AV data, other AV data is converted and transferred to a reproducing terminal. A recorder has two decoding parts as a decoding unit of AV data on a recording medium. AV data which was decoded in one of the decoding parts is supplied to a monitor device. When there is a transfer request for AV data, in accordance with a schedule which is formulated based on a transfer request list and a programmed picture recording list, AV data in the transfer request list is decoded in the other one of the decoding parts, encoded in an encoding part, converted into new AV data, and recorded in the recording medium. When a connection to the reproducing terminal is detected, the new AV data on the recording medium is transferred to the reproducing terminal. Since it has two decoding parts, it is possible to convert other AV data into new AV data while viewing and listening to AV data on the monitor device.

  • Patent number: 8412020
Abstract: This invention provides a disk playback apparatus which can shorten a time from when a power switch is turned on until a startup operation is completed. Even when the power switch of the main body is OFF, if exchange of a disk-like recording medium is detected, management data of the disk is read out and is stored in a buffer memory. When the power switch is turned on for the next time, the management data is read out from the buffer memory without accessing the disk-like recording medium.

  • Patent number: 8412019
Abstract: An apparatus for recording a real time stream of digital information signals on a disc like record carrier has been proposed. The stream of information signals represent information arranged in a sequence of video frames, each video frame arranged in separate, consecutive data blocks comprised in separate, consecutive data packets. The apparatus comprises input means (1) for receiving the stream of digital signals, processing means (100) for processing the stream of digital information signals to obtain digital information signals and writing means (102) for writing the digital information signals into the units of recording on the disc like record carrier. The processing means (102) are adopted to detect the data blocks in the data packets and to allocate consecutive data blocks comprised in multiple data packets into consecutive logical units, a size of each logical unit corresponding to the predetermined size of the unit of recording.

  • Patent number: 8401361
Abstract: A signal processing portion successively accepts frames of images from video information recorded on a recording medium acting as a dubbing source. The medium is one of a hard disc drive and a disc medium. Then, the processing portion recognizes face images from the frames of image, displays the recognized face images on the screen of an LCD, registers face images selected from the displayed face images in response to a manipulation of control buttons, creates thumbnail images from images which are included in the registered face images and which have appeared at ratios in excess of 70%, extracts images including the thumbnail images from the recording medium acting as the dubbing source, and dubs the extracted images onto the recording medium acting as a dubbing destination.

  • Patent number: 8401360
Abstract: A reproducing apparatus simultaneously reproduces a first video signal and a second video signal reproduced at any timing against the first video signal. A first (second) converting section outputs the first (second) video signal having a first frame frequency alternately for three successive frames and two successive frames to convert the first (second) video signal having the first frame frequency into the video signal having a second frame frequency. They have a relationship of 2 to 5. A controlling section performs control such that timing at which a field group of the three successive frames of the first video signal having the second frame signal is changed to a field group of the two successive frames thereof matches timing at which a field group of the three successive frames of the second video signal having the second frame signal is changed to a field group of the two successive frames thereof.

  • Patent number: 8380038
Abstract: A broadcasting station apparatus includes a video editor and a TS encoder. The video editor produces a video signal by editing video of a TV program and video of a CM. When substantially the same scenes are arranged before and after the CM in the video signal produced in the video editor, the TS encoder manipulates predetermined data of a TS packet storing information of the same scene (overlap scene) after the CM. In a recording/reproducing apparatus, the TS packet storing the information of the overlap scene is sorted based on the data. The TS packet storing the information of the overlap scene is not decoded in time shift reproduction.
