Abstract: To provide the user with the relationship between the scrolling speed in scroll-displaying and an operation performed on an input surface, a tactile stimulus control apparatus includes an intensity determination unit and a tactile stimulus control unit. In a case where an operation performed by a manipulator on the input surface provided corresponding to a display unit is detected while an image is scroll-displayed by the display unit, the intensity determination unit determines the intensity of a tactile stimulus to be provided to the manipulator based on the scrolling speed at the timing of detection of the operation. The tactile stimulus control unit controls a tactile stimulus generating unit, which is configured to generate the tactile stimulus to be provided to the manipulator, to generate the tactile stimulus with the intensity determined by the intensity determination unit.

  • Patent number: 10025765
Abstract: A category is determined to which a portion of a code selected for review by a reviewer belongs. A subset is selected from a set of checklist items. A checklist item in the subset is configured for reviewing a set of categories of code portions including the category of the portion. A context including a characteristic of the reviewer is determined of the review of the portion. A checklist item in a sub-subset of the subset of checklist items is usable in reviewing the code portions under a set of contexts. The context of the review of the portion corresponds to a context in the set of contexts. Using a checklist item from the sub-subset, a checklist is dynamically configured to be specific to the review of the portion, specific to the reviewer, and specific to a given time of the review.

  • Patent number: 9967627
Abstract: Techniques for facilitating social networking via a media device are described. Some embodiments provide a social networking facilitator (“SNF”) as part of a media device, such as a set-top box that is configured to receive media content events from a broadcast system, such as a satellite broadcast system. As the media device presents a media content event, a user can share, via the SNF, information about the presented media content event with members of his social network. In particular, the SNF prepares a message that includes information about or from the presented media content event, such as a title, a channel, a summary, rating, video clip, or the like. This message can then be edited by the user, such as by adding a comment or rating, before being transmitted by the SNF a social networking system, to be forwarded as a notification to members of the user's social network.

Abstract: According to aspects of the present disclosure, certain areas of the display screen are logically considered to be “privileged.” For example, a user may run a utility program and selected areas of the wallpaper to be privileged. In another example, a utility scans the wallpaper looking for, say, a face or text and marks the location around the face or text as privileged. In any case, when an icon (or other visual information) needs to be placed on the display screen, the icon is preferentially placed at a location that does not overlap with the privileged areas. If no non-privileged area is available, then an alert can be sent to the user.
