  • Patent number: 11753931
Abstract: A system for remediating a bus sectioning events, such as a bus failure or controlled sectioning, comprises a plurality of nodes coupled together by a bus in a tool string used in a bottom hole assembly (BHA). Each node comprises a bus switch configured to isolate the node from a section of the bus. Upon a bus sectioning event, a first sub-tool string and a second sub-tool string are created on either side of the bus section to be isolated, each of which independently operate in parallel. Communication between the first and second sub-tool buses is established through respective nodes connected to each sub-tool bus that comprise a wireless communication transceiver configured to convey signals along the tool string. Alternatively or additionally, each of the sub-tool buses has a node with telemetry for communicating with the surface. Accordingly, each of the sub-tool busses continues independently operating normally.

  • Patent number: 11749092
Abstract: A method includes—responsive to activation of a vehicle for loading objects —detecting a first set of objects in vicinity of the vehicle, and—responsive to subsequent activation of the vehicle for relocation —detecting a second set of objects in vicinity of the vehicle. The method also include—responsive to a difference between the first and second sets of objects—issuing an indication for a user of the vehicle. The difference may, for example, relate to an added object, the added object being present in the second set of objects but not in the first set of objects. In some embodiments, objects may be excluded from consideration when a tracked location of the object indicates an increasing distance between the vehicle and the object. In some embodiments, objects that have an estimated size larger than a reference size may be excluded from consideration.

  • Patent number: 11738685
Abstract: An olfactory communication system for generating aroma-based notifications to one or more occupants of a vehicle includes an aroma diffuser that emits aromas into an interior cabin of the vehicle and a controller in electronic communication with the aroma diffuser. The one or more controllers execute instructions to receive a message indicating a specific event is occurring, where the specific event is an occurrence that the one or more occupants experience while in the interior cabin of the vehicle. In response to receiving the message, the one or more controllers determine a customized aroma based on the specific event, where the customized aroma creates an odor that informs the one or more occupants of the specific event. The one or more controllers instruct the aroma diffuser to emit the customized aroma into the interior cabin of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11590931
Abstract: A vehicle control system (VCS) in a passenger compartment interfaces with underhood components using a Bluetooth® link. The underhood components include a siren assembly with a sound generator and backup battery. The battery enables the siren assembly to function after the vehicle's battery is disabled. The siren assembly includes a Bluetooth® transceiver for establishing the link with the VCS. The siren assembly monitors the hood of the vehicle through a hood sensor, to detect unauthorized opening. In response to such opening, the siren assembly transmits an alarm to the VCS, which transmits an alarm to a user's mobile device and/or a security service. The sound generator may also be activated, by itself or under control of the VCS. The siren assembly connects to the engine computer/ignition module, to allow the VCS to monitor engine speed, and facilitate proper start of the engine when the VCS receives a remote start command.
