  • Patent number: 10028224
Abstract: In one embodiment, a mobile computing device has a first processor and a second processor. The mobile device determines an operating condition of the mobile device, the operating condition being based on at least the current time of day, a current activity of a user associated with the mobile device, or a current proximity of the mobile device to a place connected to the user of the mobile device through an on-line social network. If the operating conditions of the mobile device are satisfied, the first processor of the mobile device sends a message to the second processor of the mobile device, the message causing the second processor to transition from a sleep state to an active state.

  • Patent number: 10015771
Abstract: The present invention addresses apparatuses, methods and computer program product for providing user location in network interworking (a mobile device accessing a 3GPP network through a broadband fixed network, a.k.a. UMA, WLan femto-Cell). When the policy and charging rules function PCRF contacts broadband network policy function BPCF after the IP-CAN session establishment for setting up an S9a control session between BPCF and PCRF, the BPCF uses the tunnel information, i.e. the IP tunnel address received from PCRF, to retrieve the line identifier of the subscriber line corresponding to the IP tunnel address of the DSLAM end of the tunnel, i.e. the IP address allocated earlier by the fixed broadband access network to the fixed network user/UE, and sends the line identifier to PCRF. Then, the PCRF sends the line identifier, accompanied with relevant 3GPP user/UE identification, to P-CSCF and possibly to other network elements that may need the user location information, e.g. to PCEF/PGW/GGSN.

  • Patent number: 9955298
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention is directed to methods, systems and apparatuses enabling location sharing group formation and the tracking of group members. Groups may be bound by a geographical area that circumscribes the boundary of a location sharing group. Active members of a location sharing group may become active based on their relative location to the geographical area defining the location sharing group. The geographical area may be static, mobile or change size and shape based on parameters forming the location sharing group. Alerts may be generated informing members of the location sharing group of the entry or exit of members from the location sharing group. Active members of a location sharing group may share location information with other members of the location sharing group. A radius or other shape may identify a geographical area for location sharing between members.

  • Patent number: 9949177
Abstract: The present disclosure presents a method and an apparatus for determining a target cell that is under cell identifier confusion during handovers at a small cell. For example, the disclosure presents a method that includes detecting that a target cell confusion exists at a source small cell for a target physical cell identity (PCI) during a handover of a user equipment (UE) from the source small cell to a target small cell, comparing PCI information reported by the UE during the handover with PCI information of neighbors of each of the plurality of neighboring small cells with the same PCI value, determining whether the target small cell has been identified based at least on the PCI comparison, and performing the handover of the UE from the source small cell to the target small cell. As such, a target cell may be determined.

  • Patent number: 9913189
Abstract: A multi-mode access point supports different radio access technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi and cellular) for serving multi-mode access terminals. To provide improved service for such an access terminal, the access point may redirect the access terminal from a first type of radio access technology to a second type of radio access technology under certain circumstances. A decision to invoke such a redirection may be based on, for example, at least one of: traffic conditions on the first type of radio access technology, traffic conditions on the second type of radio access technology, and whether a backhaul for the access point is currently a bottleneck for access point communication.

  • Patent number: 9912363
Abstract: A short-range wireless communication apparatus is disclosed. The short-range wireless communication apparatus comprises: multiple connection devices and a control device. The connection devices are capable of simultaneously connecting multiple communication interfaces to a communication counterparty apparatus to enable sound data transfer. When the control device determines that, in cases where the communication interfaces are communicably connected, there arises a request to start outputting the sound data transferred by one of the communication interfaces, the control device disconnects another one of the communication interfaces while keeping the one of the communication interfaces connected and causes a sound data output device to output the sound data transferred from the communication counterparty apparatus by the one of the communication interfaces.
