  • Patent number: 10584968
Abstract: In aspects of visual mapping of geo-located tagged objects, a mobile device includes a mapping module that receives map data of a geo-fenced area from a controller device of the geo-fenced area. The mobile device can scan for wireless-enabled devices within a geo-fenced area, and receive a designation input of a tagged object that corresponds to one of the wireless-enabled devices. The mapping module is implemented to generate a visual mapping that displays a route from the mobile device to the tagged object based on the map data. The mapping module can receive object metadata about the tagged object as the mobile device approaches the tagged object along the route of the visual mapping, and a 3D visual representation of the tagged object is displayed based on a received 3D object model of the tagged object.

  • Patent number: 10555227
Abstract: Millimeter-wave (mmWave) band communication is a very promising technology for 5G small cells. In practice, such a new system will coexist with legacy or evolved microwave band systems, such as E-UTRAN LTE macro-cell cellular systems, for a long time to come. Considering the typical scenarios where a macro cell offers umbrella coverage for clusters of small cells, several user plane (U-plane) architectural choices of macro-assisted 5G mmWave systems from both UE and network's perspectives are evaluated. The proposed On-demand Reconfiguration U-Plane Architecture (ORUA) for Macro-assisted Millimeter Wave (mmWave) small cells is designed to meet 5G expectations of dense deployment of small cells and UEs and beamformed intermittent Gbps links.

  • Patent number: 10555172
Abstract: Cellular networks regularly operate with trusted devices, which typically are trusted because of the integration of a SIM card therewith. Untrusted devices typically do not interface with a SIM card, and rely on user input through traditional user interfaces for authentication. Recently, the use of hands-free, always-on digital assistant devices have become more common. Such devices typically have only a voice user interface that may be used by a number of people in close proximity to the device. Particular problems arise in such a scenario when a user wants to access a secure service that requires user authentication. Such problems are addressed with multiple techniques described herein.

  • Patent number: 10542519
Abstract: A terminal positioning method and a network device, where the network device obtains radio signal sampling information of a first terminal at a current moment. The first terminal is any terminal in a target region, and the target region is a preset geographic region. The network device obtains position information of the first terminal at the current moment by prediction based on the radio signal sampling information of the first terminal at the current moment and a predictive model of the target region. The predictive model is obtained by extensive data training in the target region, has relatively strong error tolerance and error-correction capabilities, and can accurately reflect a relationship between radio signal sampling information and position information of a terminal. Terminal positioning accuracy is effectively improved.

  • Patent number: 10524129
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method of modifying policy settings in an electronic device. An embodiment includes a plurality of access stations, each capable of wirelessly transmitting across a geographic region. A mobile electronic device, capable of roaming between regions is operable to establish a wireless link with the access stations. The device is owned by an office which sets communication policies determining through which access stations mobile device can place voice calls. This policy is stored on an office server as a database and periodically transmitted to the device as the device makes contact with the office server over the internet. Hence, the device maintains a copy of this policy database. When placing a voice call, the device first determines which access station is serving the region it is located in and then determines whether it is allowed to place a call through that access station using its policy database.
