  • Patent number: 6780060
Abstract: A card connector system that detachably supports a PC card and electrically connects the PC card to an electrical device. The system includes a temperature sensor to monitor temperature of the PC card to prevent the deleterious effect of heat generated by the PC card on the PC card itself and the electrical device. The sensor detects the surface temperature of the supported PC card and transmits the obtained temperature information to the electrical device. In this case, it is preferable that a transition board 33, electrically connected between the PC card and the electrical device, is used to transmit the temperature information.

  • Patent number: 6780025
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) includes a housing (2) receiving a plurality of contacts (7) therein, an actuator lever (5) assembled with the housing, a frame (4) hinged with the housing and a pair of reinforcement members (3) covering on the housing. The housing defines a pair of rail portions (26, 27) thereon and the reinforcement member defines a pair of guiding slots (312, 322), which enables the reinforcement members to be mounted on the housing by means of sliding on the rail portions. The reinforcement members protect the housing from bending or distortion by the frame when the frame presses down on an IC module received in the housing. This facilitates reliable electrical connection between the IC module and a PCB on which the housing is mounted.

  • Patent number: 6780043
Abstract: The invention relates to a guide and support structure (1) that in addition to providing a secure and stable guide support for the plug-in unit and good electric contact properties enhances the removal of heat from the plug-in unit. This is achieved by means of a guide and support structure having an upper web forming a guide channel for a plug-in unit and being connected to a base of the structure through side walls of the structure. The base is at least partially open in order to allow air flow through the interior of the elongated profile. By virtue of such a configuration blockage of a cooling-air flow will be significantly reduced. Such a reduced blockage of cooling-air flow will in turn enhance the cooling of plug-in units and will require less powerful fans for producing the cooling-air flow.

  • Patent number: 6780039
Abstract: A packaging tray (2) includes an elongate base (3). The base includes supporting portions (31) for receiving CPU sockets (1) therein. Each supporting portion includes four sidewalls (311), and a bottom wall (313) having an upper surface and a lower surface. Each sidewall forms an inwardly extending rib (312). Four standoffs (314) are formed on the lower surface. When mounting the CPU sockets on the upper surfaces, each CPU socket rests on the corresponding ribs, and solder balls of the CPU socket are supported by the corresponding upper surface. Thus, in handling of the CPU sockets, the solder balls are unlikely to sustain damage. Conversely, the CPU sockets can be reverse mounted on the lower surfaces. The solder balls of each CPU socket are located in a horizontal plane face up, with the standoffs supporting the CPU socket. The solder balls can be accurately inspected by a flatness inspection device.

  • Patent number: 6780068
Abstract: A plug-in connector has an insulating body which holds electrical contacts, for example contact pins or contact tubes, in bores which extend in the axial direction. On its outside, the insulating body has a groove which opens outwardly and which intersects the holes or bores for the contacts over part of their radial extension. A retaining ring fits into the groove and in the working position, simultaneously engages in groove-like recesses provided on the contacts, thereby fixing the contacts in an axial direction. The retaining ring can also support at least one retaining tongue protruding preferably radially inwardly in the plane of the retaining ring. The retaining tongue extends into the area of a further bore for a middle contact through a channel or opening in the insulating body and in the working position, engages in the recess thereof so that this middle contact is also axially fixed.

  • Patent number: 6776664
Abstract: An electrical connector (1) includes a housing (10), and a plurality of terminals (12, 13) received in the housing. The housing defines side surfaces (1020, 1020′) each forming a plurality of spacers (1022, 1022′). Two adjacent spacers and the corresponding side surface cooperatively define a terminal-passage (1021, 1026) for receiving a terminal therein. Each spacer is formed with at least one retention portion (1023) having a slanted guiding surface (1024) and a positioning surface (1025). The retention portions of each terminal-passage prevent the corresponding terminal from moving between the retention portions and the corresponding side surface. Moreover, two adjacent opposing guiding surfaces of the terminal-passage guide a mating contact of an associated electrical connector until the mating contact is received between two adjacent opposing positioning surfaces of the terminal-passage. Thus the mating contact is securely and reliably received in the terminal-passage.
