Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for providing a driver of a host vehicle being stopped with a preliminary notification that remote vehicles forming a queue in front of the host vehicle are likely to start moving. The system includes a receiver, a notifying device, a determiner, and a controller. The receiver is configured to receive messages from the remote vehicles through Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications. The notifying device is configured to provide the driver with the preliminary notification. The determiner is configured to determine whether a specified vehicle among the remote vehicles other than a preceding vehicle directly ahead of the specified vehicle starts moving based on the messages sent from the specified vehicle. The controller is configured to control the notifying device to provide the preliminary notification when the determiner determines that the specified vehicle starts moving.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to providing sensor data on a display of a vehicle. For instance, data points generated by a lidar sensor may be received. The data points may be representative of one or more objects in an external environment of the vehicle. A scene including a representation of the vehicle from a perspective of a virtual camera, a first virtual object corresponding to at least one of the one or more objects, and a second virtual object corresponding to at least one object identified from pre-stored map information may be generated. Supplemental points corresponding to a surface of the at least one object identified from the pre-stored map information may be generated. A pulse including at least some of the data points generated by the sensor and the supplemental points may be generated. The scene may be displayed with the pulse on the display.

Abstract: An electronic device with a vibrating element which also produces sound includes a casing, an operation panel mounted to the casing, and a vibrator and a processor received in the casing. The operation panel includes a plurality of buttons. Each button can generate an input signal when pressed. The vibrator is attached to an inner surface of the casing. The processor is electrically connected to each button and the vibrator. The processor controls the vibrator to vibrate at a preset frequency in response to the input signal, thereby simultaneously generating sound with the vibration. The size of the electronic device is accordingly decreased.

Abstract: A baggage delivery notification system and method which alerts passengers when their baggage arrives. An example method includes obtaining a baggage identifier on a bag at a baggage claim carousel from a reader, determining a passenger associated with the baggage identifier, and alerting the passenger that the bag is at the baggage claim carousel. The method may further include determining a time of arrival of the bag at the baggage claim carousel and alerting the passenger to the time of arrival.
Abstract: A method for estimating the occupancy of a parking lot is provided wherein map data, indicating the geometry of a parking lot, is obtained. A number of parking regions within said parking lot is then determined using said map data. A model of the spatial distribution of occupied parking regions is then generated as a function of the total number of occupied parking regions within the lot. The method further comprises receiving probe data from a plurality of portable devices within said parking lot, wherein said probe data indicates the position of each device. The probe data is analyzed in accordance with said model and an estimate of the occupancy of the parking lot is output.
Abstract: Methods, apparatus, and systems for motion-based tracking of package placement in a logistics container are described using a container node associated with the logistics container. In general, the container node activates a scanning mode to electronically listen for an ID node associated with a package being shipped within the logistics container. The container node detects a signal broadcast from the package's ID node and then senses an impact force on the logistics container using a motion sensor on the container node. The container node determines whether the detected signal broadcast from the ID node and the sensed impact force indicate the package was placed within the logistics container, and then transmits a notification to a managing node to reflect that the detected signal and the sensed impact force indicate the package was placed within the logistics container.

The system includes a data reader having a processor for performing a signal frequency analysis, an ultrasound transmitter for transmitting ultrasound signals, and an ultrasound receiver for receiving reflected ultrasound signals. The system further includes a movable reflector for receiving the ultrasound signals and reflecting the ultrasounds signals back to the ultrasound receiver (a) as the reflected ultrasound signals without modulation when the movable reflector is stationary and (b) as the reflected ultrasound signals with modulation when the movable reflector is mobile. The system also includes a chip for storing a specification of motion states for the movable reflector.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a server, system, method, and recording medium for searching for missing children, using mobile crowdsourcing. According to an embodiment, a server for searching for missing children, using mobile crowdsourcing, comprises a communication unit and a control unit. The communication unit receives a missing-child incident signal from a guardian terminal (held by a parent or guardian) and receives a first location information as to movements of a missing child from a child terminal (carried by the missing child) and sends the first location information received to at least one assistance terminal and receives landmark information from the assistance terminal(s) when a (degree of) similarity between the first location information sent to the assistance terminal(s) and a second location information detected by the assistance terminal(s) is higher than a preset value. The control unit generates a movement or moving path of the missing child, using the landmark information received.
