  • Patent number: 11059266
Abstract: A protective shield includes a rigid base layer, and a flexible outer cushioning layer formed from a flexible film material laminated to an outer surface of the base layer. The outer cushioning layer includes two or more layers of flexible film laminated together via an intermediary adhesive. The protective shield also has a mounting adhesive layer applied on the lower surface of the shield. The mounting adhesive allows the shield to be removably mounted to a display surface, such as a touch screen surface for an electronic device. When the shield is properly mounted to the display surface, the outer layer formed from flexible film material faces away from the display surface. The flexible cushioning layer on the outer surface of the shield allows the shield to protect the display surface such that the display surface can withstand higher levels of impacts without breaking or shattering.

  • Patent number: 11020933
Abstract: The present invention relates to techniques for lowering friction between moving surfaces of, for example, an internal combustion engine. Friction reduction is achieved by adding texture modifications to surfaces that come in contact with each other. Texture modifications that reduce friction in accordance with the present invention include dimples of varying geometries and depths ion the surfaces of components. The present invention also relates to the fabrication technique for applying the texture to the surfaces. In another embodiment, the patterned soft mask is applied onto a large surface (flat or curved including cylindrical rollers surfaces) to be followed by electrochemical etching to imprint the textures onto the component And, in another embodiment, a diamond-like-carbon (DLC) film may be applied to the turbine component to also reduce friction.

  • Patent number: 11001432
Abstract: A method, a food container, a lid, and pad for a food container that actively removes moisture in the food container without changing the food temperature inside the container in a meaningful way are disclosed herein. The removal of moisture is achieved by introducing a cold spot (below the dew point temperature) inside the food container that forces condensation of moisture near the cold spot. The condensed moisture is then captured by an absorbent element placed below, and preferably adjacent to/collocated with, the cold spot and between the cold spot and the stored food. The cold spot is preferably achieved by a properly chosen frozen substance such as an ice cube or a frozen gel packet or ice trapped inside an absorbent pad.
