  • Patent number: 5199597
Abstract: Disclosed is a removable self-closing lid for covering a top of a container, wherein the container has an outer wall surface and a top with an opening for accessing into the container. The lid includes a cap, a pressure fitting and sealing perimeter lip for securing the cap over the container top, and a pouring aperture. Further included in the lid is an automatic leveraging mechanism which is activated by a user exerting pressure on a trigger, thereby opening the pouring aperture. The pouring aperture is automatically sealed when the leveraging means is deactivated by the user releasing the pressure on the trigger. Incorporated into the trigger is a leverage ridge that provides a fulcrum that slides over the container's outer wall surface during activation and deactivation.

  • Patent number: 5197619
Abstract: The end wall of a screw cap of rigid thermoplastics material is provided with a sealing ring of heat-polymerized plastisol and the cylindrical skirt of the cap has an internal multiple thread at its upper end, an intermediate opening tear-strip and a lower part with an internal annular engagement rib which snap-engages under an annular rib of triangular cross-section situated below the thread of the threaded neck of a rigid container. The annular rib of the cap is interrupted in a plurality of zones and the neck of the container has a corresponding plurality of projections which extend downwards from the base of the triangular rib and, upon completion of the first screwing on of the cap, are each positioned in one of the interrupted zones of the rib of the cap, so as to prevent both a limited accidental unscrewing of the cap and the overtightening of the cap, and thus prevent the seal of the closure from being compromised in both cases.

  • Patent number: 5191968
Abstract: A router including an arrangement for locking the shaft against rotation and preventing power from being supplied to the motor when the shaft is locked. The shaft is locked by movement of a lock bar which traps a flatted portion of the shaft in an appropriately dimensioned slot. A secondary switch in the power path to the motor is controlled by movement of the lock bar. In addition, an indicator lamp connected to the secondary switch is lit when the shaft is locked and the router is still connected to a source of power.

  • Patent number: 5183172
Abstract: A drink through container lid of the type formed from thin thermoplastic material and which is used as a closure cap on open mouthed beverage cups is disclosed. Conventional lids of the foregoing description include one or more lines of weakness in the main body portion of the lid and which in part define the drink through segment of the lid. Normal breakage of this segment is initiated by hand at a location on the bottom of the skirt, which may or may not also include a lift tab projecting outwardly from the bottom of the skirt. In accordance with this invention, the lift tab is positioned above the bottom of the remainder of the skirt, and proximate to that portion of the outer wall of the groove of the lid which is in frictional engagement with the beverage cup to which it is attached.

  • Patent number: 5174464
Abstract: A paint or similar can adapted to retain its lid in fluid tight condition against mechanical or pressure disturbances. The can has a ring element secured to the top of its sidewall and a lid assembled onto the ring element. Rubber or other sealant is disposed between the ring element and lid to form one or more continuous seals between the ring element and lid. An overcap having a debossment is placed over the lid. Filament reinforced low stretch adhesive tape is adherently applied to the overcap and the sidewall and hold the overcap down tightly against the lid with the debossment pressing against the lid to prevent the lid from backing off from the ring element and breaking the seal.

  • Patent number: 5165562
Abstract: Anti-splash paint cover for use on standard paint cans that reseal the paint can without causing paint which has collected in the paint sealing rim to splash or coat the sides of the can during the recovering process. The invention is a molded urethane plastic cover that can be installed or removed without the use of tools. The cover fits tightly by creating a slightly negative pressure within the can. The cover is easily reusable as the paint adhering to the inside cover can be left to dry, after which the cover is merely twisted to cause the paint to flake off.
