Abstract: Nonpolar, organic solvent-soluble tellurium compounds and complexes are disclosed. The compounds are tellurium(II) compounds and are represented by the formula:Te[ (CH.sub.2).sub.n SiRR'R"].sub.2wherein:n is an integer from 1 to 10 andR, R' and R" are independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl and heterocyclic radicals. Photosensitive complexes of these compounds with transition metals, as well as photographic elements having layers comprising these complexes, are also disclosed.
Abstract: A process is disclosed for preparing anhydrous hydrazines by reacting a tertiary hydrazinium halide with a corresponding alkali metal or alkaline earth metal amide in the presence of a non-aqueous inert carrier.

Abstract: The use as antimicrobial agents of organosilicon quaternary ammonium compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein m+n is 16 to 19, m is 1 to 6, and n is 13 to 17 or m+n is 20 to 23, m is 4 to 11 and n is 9 to 17; X is a halogen; and Y is a hydrolyzable radical or hydroxy group.Substrates, such as cellulose fabrics, can be impregnated with these compounds, so that the growth of disease causing microorganisms in and on the substrates is inhibited.
Abstract: A process for the preparation of aqueous solutions of alkali organosiliconates in which organoalkoxypolysiloxanes of the formula ##EQU1## in which R.sup.1 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, a vinyl residue and/or a phenyl residue,R.sup.2 is an alkyl residue with 1 to 4 carbon atoms,a is a number .ltoreq.2, andx is 1 to 1.25,are reacted with aqueous solutions of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide having a concentration of 0.7 to 0.9 mole/100 g at temperatures .gtoreq.80.degree. C. The liberated alcohol R.sup.2 OH may be distilled and/or the concentration adjusted to the desired value by the addition of water. With the present invention, alkali chloride-free alkali organosiliconate solutions having high concentration can be obtained while avoiding a filtration step.

Abstract: A process for preparing silyl maleates, fumarates, succinates and phthalates comprising reacting an olefinic containing maleates, fumarates, succinates or phthalates with hydrogenotrichlorosilane in the presence of the platinum catalyst and then reacting the product thereof with methanol wherein the methanol is added slowly over a period of at least 6 hours to the intermediate product such that it is introduced beneath and into the liquid layer of intermediate product where most of the HCl that is formed by the reaction is removed by azeotroping it out with the methanol and water along with the HCl dissolved therein and removing the azeotrope as it being formed.
Abstract: A process for treating certain particles of less than 40 microns average diameter size in a silicone reactor where methyl chloride is reacted with particles of silicon in the presence of copper to produce chlorosilanes comprising removing particles of less than 40 microns average diameter size; and abraiding said particles to remove the surface coating; and returning said particles to the reactor.

Abstract: The invention provides a novel class of organosilicon compounds and a method for the preparation thereof as well as an anti-tumor agent containing the compound having very remarkable anti-tumor activity but with very low toxicity. The inventive compound is a (trihydrocarbylsilylmethyloxyimino)alkane, which is a silicon-containing oxime compound hitherto not described in any prior art literatures, represented by the general formula R.sup.1.sub.3 Si--CH.sub.2 --O--N.dbd.Y, R.sup.1 is a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and Y is a divalent hydrocarbon group denoted by .dbd.CR.sup.2 R.sup.3 or .dbd.CR.sup.4, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3, which may be identical or different, having the same meaning as R.sup.1 defined above and R.sup.4 being an alkylene group to form a ring structure jointly with the carbon atom directly bonded to the nitrogen atom.
