  • Patent number: 6702251
Abstract: A control valve for a variable displacement compressor is provided. A retainer cylinder in the control valve includes a first cylindrical member made of non-magnetic material and a second cylindrical member having a bottom portion made of magnetic material. A shim is intervened a bottom surface of a plunger and inner bottom surface of the second cylindrical member. The retainer cylinder has good magnetic permeability between a coil and the plunger, even though the wall of the cylinder thickens to improve the withstanding pressure to internal refrigerant pressure.

  • Patent number: 6698717
Abstract: Butterfly valves of this invention generally comprise a flapper element that is rotatably disposed within an annular bore of a valve housing. The valve may be configured to provide an improved degree of gas flow control sensitivity from a closed to a partially opened position through the use of projections that extend radially inwardly from the housing bore, are positioned at diametrically opposed positions within the bore, and that are specifically configured to provide a gradual increase in gas flow across the valve as the flapper is moved from a closed position to a partially opened position. The butterfly valve may be configured having further projections that extend radially inwardly a distance therein, that are positioned at diametrically opposed positions in the bore, and that include faces that are sized and shaped to cooperate with respective opposed surfaces of the flapper to seal off gas flow within the bore when the flapper is placed into a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6695282
Abstract: A positioner for a valve that is actuated by means of a drive. The positioner includes a locator (9) and a control unit (13). The locator (9) detects the actual position of an actuator (7). The control unit (13) compares the actual position with a predefined desired position, and generates an actuating signal. A magnet (18) having a magnetoresistive sensor, preferably a GMR sensor, is provided as the locator. The locator (9) is less susceptible to dirt and less prone to wear and tear than a conventional slide potentiometer. The positioner is thus less fault-prone.

  • Patent number: 6695280
Abstract: A device used for pneumatic control, includes a control piston carried in a cylinder. The control piston is mounted so as to be movable in the direction of a longitudinal piston axis, and a primary flow path that can be closed by the control pressure passes through the cylinder. The control piston is provided with a control surface that faces a control chamber of the cylinder and that is designed to transmit a control force to the control piston. The control piston includes a piston shank whose cross-sectional area is dimensioned so as to be essentially equal to a cross-sectional area of a flow orifice of the primary flow path that can be closed by the control piston and that faces an interior cylinder chamber.

  • Patent number: 6695281
Abstract: A water flow control device that regulates the amount of water flowing through a shower head is disclosed. The device is interposed between the shower head and the water supply line and consists of a sensor and a solenoid that actuates and deactuates a water limiting valve connected in the water supply line. The device can increase or decrease the flow of water through the shower head depending upon the position of the person with respect to the shower head. In this manner, the amount of water used by a person when showering is conserved.

  • Patent number: 6695284
Abstract: An electromagnetic valve apparatus prevents fluid leakage and contains a stationary core having a shape of a bottomed, single-piece cup constructed by combining a housing portion, an attracting portion, a thin-walled portion that joins the housing portion and the attracting portion, and a flange portion. The housing portion has a closed bottom portion, and the attracting portion is adjacent an open end of the stationary core. The housing portion reciprocally supports a movable core. The thin-walled portion is a magnetic resistance portion for preventing leakage of magnetic flux. A magnetic cylindrical attracting member is press-inserted in the inner wall of the attracting portion located on the opened side of the stationary core. The attracting member is arranged face to face with the movable core in the reciprocating path of the movable core. Upon energizing a coil, a magnetic attractive force attracts the movable core to the attracting member.

  • Patent number: 6691979
Abstract: An automatic flusher employs an infrared-light-type object sensor to provide an output on the basis of which a control circuit decides whether to flush a toilet. After each pulse of transmitted radiation, the control circuit pushes a new entry onto stack if the resultant percentage of reflected radiation differs significantly from the last, and it includes in that entry's direction field an indication of whether the percentage change was positive or negative. Otherwise, the control circuit increments the existing top entry's duration field. From the numbers of entries in a row having a given direction and the sums of the values in their duration fields, the control circuit determines whether a user has approached the facility and then withdrawn from it, and it operates the flusher's valve accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6688577
Abstract: A self-draining, valve for fluid flow control. Upon removal of fluid supply pressure from the valve, the valve automatically reverts to a partially open state allowing fluid in the valve to drain. The disclosed valve is particularly useful in applications where draining of fluids with bio-matter or other contaminants is desired after removal of supply pressure in order to reduce contamination buildup and/or permit thorough cleaning.

  • Patent number: 6688579
Abstract: A solenoid valve for controlling a fuel injector of an internal combustion engine having an electromagnet, a movable armature having an armature plate and an armature pin, and a control valve element which is moved with the armature and works together with a valve seat, for opening and closing a fuel drain channel of a control pressure chamber of the fuel injector, is provided. The armature plate is mounted on the armature pin so that it is movable by sliding under the effect of its inertial mass in the closing direction of the control valve element against the tension of a return spring acting on the armature plate. In order to be able to easily set the maximum slide path of the armature plate, an actuator is provided on the armature plate which is arranged on a section of the armature plate facing away from the electromagnet and is adjustable in the sliding direction of the armature plate relative to a face of the armature plate facing the electromagnet.

  • Patent number: 6682046
Abstract: A fuel injection valve includes, in part, a pipe, a fixed connector (fixed core), a movable core, a solenoid coil and a needle valve. In the fuel injection valve, a diameter of a fixed action surface of the fixed connector is made smaller than a movable action surface of the movable core. Therefore, magnetic flux around an outer circumferential portion is transmitted from the fixed action surface to the movable action surface substantially in a direction perpendicular to the movable action surface. Thus, an electromagnetic force acting therebetween is efficiently transformed to an attracting force for the movable core.

  • Patent number: 6679475
Abstract: A pressure control valve serves to regulate the fuel pressure in a fuel system. The pressure control valve includes a valve housing, at least one inlet, at least one outlet, and at least one prestressed, electrically actuatable, and at least regionally ball-shaped valve member. The valve member cooperates with a valve seat structurally connected to the housing. To make it possible to achieve stable closed- and/or open-loop control properties of the pressure control valve, it is proposed that the valve seat widen conically toward the valve member, and the ball diameter of the valve member is selected such that with the valve closed, the valve member touches the valve seat in the vicinity of its farther end.

  • Patent number: 6669169
Abstract: A bleed device for hydraulic circuits and a kit for bleeding are described that enable bleeding of the hydraulic circuit independently of the removal or slackening of the bleed device. In one embodiment, the bleed device comprises two opposing ends having a bleed duct extending through them. One end is designed to close the aperture of the hydraulic circuit. The other end is part of a quick-release connector and is designed to couple with the other part of the quick-release connector, whereby the bleed device may be connected to a bleed liquid collection vessel. Also, coupling of the quick-release connector simultaneously opens a one-way check valve in the bleed duct. The one-way check valve closes during normal operation of the hydraulic circuit. A protective cap on the bleed device keeps foreign matter from fouling the quick-release connector end.
