  • Patent number: 4764124
Abstract: A tubular, conductive housing has an axial opening defining an inner surface. An annular, outer lip projects from the inner surface. A centrally located axle within the housing has an annular inner lip opposing the outer lip. Cylinders at either end of the housing engage the axle in the housing and have apertures therein through which wires are inserted and located between the lips. Rotating the cylinders results in the wires being stripped and making electrical contact with the outer lip and conductive housing. Thereby, the wires become electrically interconnected to the conductive housing and to each other.

  • Patent number: 4759728
Abstract: A junction box and battery jumper cable combination for use on vehicles with storage batteries. A cup shaped junction box has a flanged lip for mounting through body panel holes larger than the cup below the lip but smaller than the lip. Pull-in lugs on a screw actuated element are slidable along slots in the cup wall to approach the lip when the screw is actuated to secure the lip and, hence, the junction box to the body. The screw on each pull-in lug is accessible inside the junction box and access to the back side of the mounting area is not essential. Jumper cables adapted to work with the junction box has polarity selective cooperating terminals to assure correct polarity of circuitry. The jumper cables have a spring clamp equipped extension cables to mate with the end of the jumper cables to serve vehicles not equipped with the improved junction box. The junction box is adapted for wiring permanently to the host vehicle battery.

  • Patent number: 4758174
Abstract: An electrical connector includes opposed matable halves. Each half of the connector includes a rigid outer shell and a one-piece molded elastomeric insert frictionally retained in the respective outer shell. The inserts frictionally retain appropriate electrical terminals. Keys on the inserts cooperate with keyways on the outer shell to ensure proper alignment and polarization. One of the outer shells is mechanically crimped to the cable to provide strain relief and an environmentally sealed connection. One of the inserts is provided with an outwardly extending sealing flange which is tightly urged into contact between the opposed outer shells for environmental sealing. The forward end of one insert defines a peripheral lip which is urged into tight engagement with the mating face of the opposed insert to further contribute to environmental sealing. A right angle adapter molded from an elastomeric material can provide a strain relief transition of the cable through a right angle bend.

  • Patent number: 4758182
Abstract: An electric connector including a housing made of resin and having a plurality of cavities for receiving a plurality of terminals and a terminal retaining member made of resin and having a plurality of holes. When a rear portion of the housing is inserted into an opening formed in a front portion of the terminal retaining member, the housing and terminal retaining member are preliminarily coupled with each other in a first coupling mode in which the holes of the terminal retaining member are aligned with the cavities of the housing. After the terminals having electric wires connected thereto have been inserted into the cavities through the holes, the terminal retaining member is shifted in a direction perpendicular to a direction in which the terminals are inserted and then is further moved toward the housing to attain a second coupling mode. In the second coupling mode the terminals are engaged with portions of the terminal retaining member to prevent the terminals from being removed out of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4752232
Abstract: A locking device for preventing unauthorized access to a telephone subscriber circuit jack located at a building entrance terminal structure or similar face is disclosed. The jack accommodates a plug having a manually engageable release member and defines a recess accommodating the jack. The locking device includes a housing element defining a generally rectangularly enclosed recess. Means within the recess locates the plug in predetermined position. A forward wall in the housing defines an opening opposite the plug which will provide access. A cover element is supported for selective movement relative to the housing element between first and second positions, the cover element being clear of the opening in the jack in a first position and at least partially overlying the opening in a second position. Latching means is provided on the cover element and locking means on the housing element engages the latching means for preventing movement of the cover from the first position to the second position.
