  • Patent number: 6281457
Abstract: A power switch apparatus of universal serial bus device for protecting the universal serial bus device from electrical interference between a bus power mode and external power mode comprises a slide switch and socket door. The slide switch encased in the universal serial bus device selects either the bus power mode or the external power mode to serve as a unique power resource of the universal serial bus device by turning a control rod of the slide switch. The socket door assembled on the universal serial bus device has a pair of flanges protruding from an inner side of the socket door. The flanges is set at two sides of the control rod to turn the control rod to select the slide switch between the bus power mode and the external power mode, thereby preventing the universal serial bus device from the electrical interference.

  • Patent number: 6280227
Abstract: A plug connector is provided having a mechanism to lock with a mated socket connector and to enhance grounding. The plug connector includes a movable latch having a retractable claw. The claw is received within a corresponding recess in the socket connector in an inserted condition to prevent unintentional removal. The latch is movably mounted within a rigid conductive shell of the plug connector. The latch has a pressing portion that is accessible through a first aperture in the shell, and the claw projects through a second aperture. A latch spring is disposed in the shell to bias the latch outwardly. In an embodiment, the spring is unitarily formed with two free ends that are normally slightly offset from one another. The free ends pass over each other with a slight “click” interference when the latch spring is deflected. At an opposite side of the plug connector, a grounding spring projects outwardly from a recess in the shell for also contacting a recess in the mated socket connector.

  • Patent number: 6276959
Abstract: A connector 10 for making electrical terminal connections facilitates making relatively easy and secure lateral insertions of one or more terminals. The connector 10 includes a pair of lateral supports 12 at opposite ends of a plurality of generally aligned walls 14. The walls 14 define a plurality of cells 20 between them. Each of the walls 14 supports a protuberance 15 on one side of the walls preferably at a generally central location along the length of the walls. One end of the walls includes a tab 18 supported on each side of the walls such that each of the cells 20 includes one protuberance 15 and two tabs 18. The protuberances facilitate proper terminal placement while each set of two tabs cooperate to form a wire holding portion within each cell. The lateral supports 12 and walls 14 are supported by first and second lateral bases 13, 11 that are configured and positioned to allow easy lateral insertion of terminals and further secure the position of the terminals within the connector.

  • Patent number: 6270375
Abstract: A low inductance electrical spring connector for a disc drive interconnecting the conductors of a flex circuit support and seal apparatus to conductive traces on a PCB, the electrical spring connector having a dielectric housing with a plurality of spaced-apart insulator portions, and a plurality of conductive spring contacts disposed between the insulator portions. The dielectric housing forms an open ended insertion cavity disposable below the flex circuit support and seal apparatus. First ends of the conductive spring contacts are solderable to conductive traces on the PCB, while second ends of the conductive spring contacts are contact surfaces disposed in the insertion cavity . Inserting the conductors of the flex circuit adjacent the contact surfaces into the insertion cavity causes the contact surfaces to engage the conductors of the flex circuit to secure the flex circuit support and seal apparatus while providing electrical contact between the head-disc assembly and the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 6268575
Abstract: The present invention is for enlarging the moving stroke of a movable member according to rotation of a lever. Operation projecting portions for moving a contact holder are provided in a moderation piece provided in the base end portion of the lever, movably in the axial direction. When the lever is rotated in the arrow A direction, the moderation piece moves in the arrow B direction while sliding a cam surface. According thereto, the operation projecting portions press the inclined surface of guiding portions so as to move the contact holder in the arrow C direction. At the time, since the moving amount of the moderation piece in the axial direction can be added to the moving stroke L2 of the contact holder, the moving stroke L2 of the contact holder can be enlarged compared with the case with the operation projecting portions provided in the lever.

The lever arm has a cam groove extending in a plane perpendicular to the axis of lever arm rotation. The second connector portion has an outwardly projecting follower pin which follows the cam groove to draw the connector portions into mating engagement when the lever arm is rotated with the pin engaged in the cam groove. The lever arm also has a flange portion and the second connector portion has a cover portion which overlies at least a part of the outwardly facing side of the flange portion of the lever arm when the lever arm is rotated with the pin engaged in the cam groove, thereby preventing the lever arm from moving outwardly along its axis of rotation.
