  • Patent number: 6261133
Abstract: In installing a retainer (20) on a connector housing (10), a guide portion (21A) formed on a removal prevention portion (21) fits in the connector housing (10) before a holding piece (22) reaches the connector housing (10). In this manner, the retainer (20) is placed in position. Therefore, it does not occur that the front end of the holding piece strikes against the outer surface of the connector housing. Consequently, it is possible to prevent the holding piece (22) from striking against the connector housing (10) and thus prevent it from being deformed or damaged. In the state where the retainer (20) has been locked at the locking position, the guide portion (21A) penetrates through the connector housing (10) and substantially contacts the seal ring (13), thus preventing the removal of the seal ring (13).

  • Patent number: 6254406
Abstract: A flexible board electrical connector includes a housing with two integral lower barb elements, and a front cover, which rotates on the housing between open and closed positions. Each of the lower barb elements has a vertical plate portion, and a lateral projection that extends laterally from an upper end of the vertical plate portion. When the cover is at the closed position, two retaining projections of the cover engage the lateral projections of the housing, thereby preventing upward removal of the retaining projections of the cover from the housing. The cover has two integral pivot pins on two end portions thereof, which are mounted respectively and rotatably within two accommodating spaces in the housing. Preferably, the housing further includes two integral upper barb elements, each of which has a horizontal plate portion, and a downward projection that extends downwardly from a front end of the horizontal plate portion into an inlet of a pivot accommodating space in the housing.

  • Patent number: 6250950
Abstract: A screwless-type terminal block comprising a housing, a clamping member in the housing, a PCB conductive pin, and an actuating member. The housing defines a first opening for receiving therein a wire end and a second opening through which extends the actuating member which has a operating knob outside of the housing and a cammed end adapted to displace the clamping member between locked and unlocked positions thereof respectively for securing the wire end in an electrically conductive manner with the PCB pin and for allowing the wire end to be inserted in or withdrawn from the housing. When rotated, the operating knob causes the cammed end to rotate about a longitudinal axis of the actuating member such that the cammed end causes the clamping member to selectively displace between the locked and unlocked positions. The cammed end includes a flat surface angled with respect to the longitudinal axis and contacting the clamping member which displaces along a plane parallel to this longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 6250954
Abstract: An electrical connection box which includes a main unit, having a mounting surface thereon, and a circuit unit having a bottom surface complementary to the mounting surface. The circuit unit is mounted on the main unit with the bottom surface facing the mounting surface. A holder is provided on a side surface next to the mounting surface and is attached by a plurality of attachment sections. There is a stop member on the mounting surface spaced apart from and adjacent the holder, forming an insertion space therebetween. This permits the wire harness to extend through the insertion space to the exterior of the unit. It prevents the harness from entering upon the mounting surface and being trapped there. It also makes it easier to draw the wire harness out of the connection box. In a preferred form of the Invention, there is a retainer on the holder (preferably arcuate) which is spaced apart from the side surface and provides additional space for maneuvering the wire harness.

  • Patent number: 6244884
Abstract: A self-docking connector includes first and third fixed contacts and an intermediate fixed contact. The first and third contacts are mounted on male and female connectors, respectively, and the intermediate contacts are mounted on a slideable plate. The plate is mounted on an upper tray surface of the female connector and is capable of sliding movement between a connected and a disconnected position. In the disconnected position, the intermediate contacts are resiliently biased by a biasing member away from contacting the third contacts, therefore creating an open circuit between the intermediate and third contacts. However, in the connected position, the intermediate contacts are forced into positive contact with the third contacts, thereby creating a readily disconnectable electrical connection therebetween.

  • Patent number: RE37265
Abstract: A connector device includes a housing having a slide plate with a handle. By the manual operation of the handle, the slide plate is moved by a disengageable link mechanism along the length of the housing. When a data storage medium is fully inserted in the connector device and the handle is in a first position, the link mechanism is disengaged. The link mechanism becomes engaged, and thereby operable to move the slide plate, only after the handle is moved from the first position to an extended position. In this manner, inadvertent ejection of the data storage medium is prevented.
