  • Patent number: 4796326
Abstract: A device is provided for securing a wiping element to the superstructure of a wiper blade. Each of two backing strips (13) of the wiping element (2a) is provided, at its exterior longitudinal edge, with a flattened area (13a, 13b) which laterally projects from said exterior longitudinal edge. One of the claws (11a) of the superstructure of the wiper blade surrounds the flattened areas (13a, 13b) and thus prevents any longitudinal displacement of the backing strips (13) with respect to said claw (11a). The longitudinal displacement of the wiping element (2a) with respect to the backing strips (13) is prevented by similar flattened areas (13a', 13b') which compress the wiping element (2a) in the zone of the claw (11a).

  • Patent number: 4793020
Abstract: According to the invention, a resilient element is disposed between interconnected elements on a windshield wiper blade assembly such as cooperating primary and secondary yokes and a wiper blade element. Preferably the resilient element is a tape with a pressure sensitive adhesive backing or a coating that can be sprayed or painted on. The invention also comprehends a method of forming the windshield wiping elements by applying the tape or coating to stock material before the individual elements are stamped and formed.

  • Patent number: 4790046
Abstract: A windshield wiper device with a non-circular sweeping motion, comprises an arm carrying a blade which is caused to oscillate alternately about an axis of rotation by a drive mechanism, combined with a movement of translation such that the windshield wiper blade describes a first path during an outward stage and a second path which differs from the first during a return stage. The drive mechanism is designed to cause the longitudinal ends of the windshield wiper blade and the windshield wiper blade itself to describe paths having the shape of a curved and flattened figure 8 whose concave area faces the axis of rotation with the point of intersection of the lobes of the flattened 8 being disposed substantially in the axis of the vehicle, whereas the ends of the lobes are tangential to the angular end positions of the blade.

  • Patent number: 4788734
Abstract: The handle part (2) of a toothbrush houses means which emit acoustic signals in the audible range of the human ear. The means are a chip (3), a battery (4), a sound generator (5), a sound amplifier (6) and a switch (7). By incorporating other similar means, the emission of visual signals is produced. The means (3, 4, 5, 6, 7), which are combined to form a module, are suitable for emitting a melody and/or spoken words. The chip (3) is supplemented with a "timer", the cycle of which is set, or can be set, and preferably lasts for two minutes per actuation. • Patent number: 4785730
Abstract: A baling machine according to the invention has a frame having walls defining an elongated compaction chamber having a front end provided with a transversely open intake to which a stream of crop is fed substantially continuously. At least one compacting member is periodically displaced in the chamber between a front position forward of the intake and a back position rearward of the intake by an appropriate drive so as to rearwardly compact crop in the chamber. A plurality of pushers are each displaceable between an advanced position projecting into the chamber and only partially blocking the intake and a retracted position substantially out of the chamber by a linkage that advances the pushers into their advanced position only when the member is rearward of the intake and of the pushers. Thus advance of the pushers into the advanced position immediately after movement of the compacting member rearward past the pushers parts the stream of crop between the pushers and compacting member.

  • Patent number: 4783876
Abstract: A concealable wiper apparatus for a vehicle has a wiper assembly disposed in such a manner that the wiper assembly can be accommodated in an accommodating chamber provided inside the body of the vehicle and in the vicinity of a window glass. The wiper assembly is vertically moved between an accommodated position at which it is accommodated in the accommodating chamber and a raised position at which the wiper assembly wipes the window glass. In addition, a wiper arm which supports a wiper blade that wipes the window glass is adapted to be capable of expansion and contraction. Accordingly, when the wiper is not used, the wiper apparatus is accommodated in the accommodating chamber, so that it is possible to minimize the air resistance to the vehicle and reduce the size of the accommodating chamber.

  • Patent number: 4782549
Abstract: A device for securing a wiping element to the superstructure of a wiper blade. The wiping element has reinforcing backing strips extending lengthwise thereof. The supersturcture has claws which surround the backing strips and at least a portion of the wiping element. The backing strips are preferably formed by extrusion and each is stamped after the extrusion process at its interior longitudinal edge to define a flattened area which projects from the interior edge. With the superstructure and wiping element assembled, the flattened area of each strip is compressed against the wiping element and thereby prevents relative lengthwise movement between the wiping element and the backing strips.

  • Patent number: 4782547
Abstract: According to the invention, an attachment structure is provided and has a body with a configuration for connection to a wiper arm. The attachment structure may have one or any combination of an airfoil, a washer fluid conduit or receptacle or an air dam integrally formed on or carried by the body. The attachment structure is elongate and may have an airfoil, an air dam and/or a washer fluid conduit or receptacle integrally formed on the body and will extend lengthwise of the wiper arm in assembled relationship therewith. The cross-sectional configuration of the body and wiper arm is substantially uniform throughout the length of the structure. Because extrusion molding is cheaper than injection molding, a high integrity, plastic device can be produced at a lower cost than conventional injection molded structures.

  • Patent number: 4780926
Abstract: A wiper apparatus for a vehicle includes first and second arms. One end portion of the first arm is rigidly secured to a wiper arm pivoting shaft. One end portion of the second arm is secured to a wiper blade, and the other end portion of the second arm is pivotally supported by the other end portion of the first arm. A stretching mechanism is provided between the first and second arms for bending and stretching the second arm relative to the first arm. An actuator for activating the stretching mechanism is provided on the wiper arm pivoting shaft. Accordingly, when the wiper is not used, the second arm can be bent relative to the first arm, so that an occupant of the vehicle is allowed to have an improved view of the outside from the inside of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4779526
Abstract: A baling machine for forming large cylindrical bales of hay has a variable volume baling chamber defined by moving belts with a crop inlet on the underside of the machine. When a bale has been completed it is wrapped with surface wrapping material stored in a holder on the back of the baler. The wrapping material is advanced by feed rolls through a cutting mechanism below the holder, and is thus guided by a plate extending along the underside of a run of the belts to the baling chamber. In order to avoid wasting wrap, a cutter is triggered by a peg carried by a metering wheel movable between an adjustable "home" position against an abutment or stop to a trigger position in which it engages and lifts a release lever to release the cutter, and this distance is a measure of the length of wrap material required for the completed bale. In respective embodiments, the metering wheel is in the form of a friction wheel, a worm wheel and a ratchet wheel with all wheels being selectively driven by one of the feed rolls.
