  • Patent number: 6056515
Abstract: A vertically oriented hydrocleaning machine comprising a motor having a housing and a downwardly oriented vertical drive shaft, and an axial pump having a piston guide unit driven by the drive shaft. The motor housing includes a closure lid which defines a shaft support for the motor drive shaft, an annular bearing seat, and at least one reference surface for facilitating concentric aligned mounting of the piston guide on the motor, without the necessity for an intermediate mounting flange between the piston guide unit and motor. The illustrated motor closure lid further defines an oil sump chamber internally within the motor and a further annular seat within which a shaft sealing ring is disposed. The motor housing closure lid enables the piston guide unit to be quickly and precisely secured to the drive motor to produce a more compact and rigid high pressure washer.

  • Patent number: 5927951
Abstract: The present invention is a disposable combination of tubing components for use with the roller pump that limits the negative pressure said pump generates (e.g. during left ventricular venting). The device consists of pump tubing and a shunt with resistance to flow placed between the inlet and outlet of the pump tubing. The device may also incorporate interconnecting tubing and a one way valve at the pump inlet tubing. The valve decreases the likelihood of pumping air or fluid into the ventricle with accidental pump reversal. In one preferred embodiment the device is called the Better-Ventera. The pump tubing of the device collapses more readily than tubing currently being used for either venting or suction applications, thus limiting the negative pressure generated by the pump to safer levels. In addition, the maximum suction generated by the pump is further limited by recirculation of flow between the pump inlet and outlet. The recirculation acts to "break" high suction.

  • Patent number: 5924852
Abstract: A peristaltic pump for pumping liquids through a resilient tube. In one embodiment, the pump includes a curved concave platen against which a resilient tube is placed. A multi lobed cam is positioned adjacent to the platen and tube. A plurality of pump fingers are mounted between tube and cam in a manner permitting radial movement of the pump fingers. As the cam rotates, the fingers are pressed toward the tube sequentially so as to pump liquid through the tube. The lobe end should press the tube sufficiently to occlude the tube and prevent back flow without over pressing and damaging the tube. A transverse pinch finger is provided on each pump finger, extending from the tube pressing face of each pump finger. At the tube occluding position, the pump finger nearly occludes the tube and the pinch finger completes occlusion without pressing the tube beyond the fully occluded position. A fixed or slidable spring pressed pinch finger may be used.

  • Patent number: 5842839
Abstract: A liquid transfer system for liquids that are subject to solidification uses a pipeline, with compressed gas as the liquid displacement medium. The pipeline comprises a substantially rigid outer line and a flexible inner hose, forming with the outer line an intermediate interstitial zone along the inner hose; a check valve located adjacent each end of the inner hose provides uni-directional flow within the system. A gas compressor connected with the interstitial zone by way of a flow control selectively applies pressurized gas or vacuum to the zone. The three possible phases of operation comprise; a first phase, when vacuum is applied to the interstitial zone, to expand the inner hose and induce liquid from the source to substantially fill the inner hose; a second phase when gas pressure is applied to the interstitial zone, to compress the inner hose and expel the liquid toward the point of delivery. The first and second phases are repeatable, to provide cumulative delivery of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 5836749
Abstract: A fuel injection system for injecting gasoline or other fuel directly into the combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine including a fuel pump with a plurality of fuel pumping pistons mounted within cylinders formed in a fixed barrel member. Each of the pistons internally contains an improved inlet valving assembly mounted wholly within a bore axially extending in the piston. The valving assembly provides a one-way fluid inletting to the pumping chamber by slight movement of a low mass valving member away from an annular seating surface formed about an inlet passage. Unlike rotary sliding type valves, the subject valve does not move rapidly through and agitate fuel and thereby does not generate any significant degree of undesirable fuel heating thus preventing undesirable fuel vaporization which is detrimental to pumping action of fluid.

  • Patent number: 5829958
Abstract: A pumping unit comprising a supporting post and a walking beam, having a head end and a tail end, pivotally connected to the post to allow for rocking of the beam about a horizontal pivot axis. The head end is connected to a vertical pump rod. The walking beam is also connected to one end of an arm, the opposite end of which is connected to a drive assembly for rocking of the beam about the horizontal pivot axis to reciprocate and produce a predetermined number of up and down strokes per minute of the pump rod. The drive assembly includes a rotating power device connected by sheaves and belts a transmission assembly whereby rotation of the power device is translated to a longitudinal force on the arm for rocking of the beam. The drive assembly is further characterized by a speed reducer interpositionable between the power device and the power transmission assembly to substantially reduce the number of up and down strokes per minute of the pump rod.

  • Patent number: 5807075
Abstract: An ambulatory volumetric pump apparatus includes a housing defining a channel therethrough having an inlet for receiving a fluid and an outlet for discharging a fluid, a pump operable to pump fluid through the channel, a motor for operating the pump in response to control signals, and a programmable microprocessor for selectively supplying control signals to the motor to cause the motor to operate. The programmable microprocessor is "programmed" by manually setting rotatable knobs having faces which extend through but are generally flush with the housing exterior surface. The knobs include indicia to provide a visual display of the setting of the knobs and thus of the parameters of operation of the pump.
