Abstract: A request is sent from a client device to a host device hosting an application capable of providing a split window view of content. Generation of a split window associated with execution of the application on the host device may include at least two split windows. Information regarding the split windows may be sent from the host device to the client device over the communication network. The client device may then use information regarding a first split window to generate an image display corresponding to the first split window. In addition, the client device may process the information regarding a second split window to stitch an image display corresponding to the second split window to the image display corresponding to the first split window. As such, upon scrolling of the display of the client device, the image display corresponding to the second split window may be displayed.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing a rich media user interface composed of a plurality of component objects that is capable of transferring information from a group of component objects having a specific function but not supporting the export of information to a group of component objects importing information only through predetermined paths through unpredictable path are provided. The method for processing content composed of user interface component objects includes receiving content including a plurality of user interface component objects, extracting exportable information which is defined to be exportable outside the content, and transferring the extracted exportable information to a target object.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for accessible chart navigation using object neighborhood are provided. An input is received to navigate a focus away in a direction from a first object, the first object being a member of a set of objects depicted in a graphical visual chart. A set of inputs is designed to access the chart without using a pointing device or requiring visual inspection of the chart and the set of objects. The set of inputs includes the input and a second input to allow return to a previous step in navigating the chart. A second object is identified to which to navigate responsive to the input, the second object being located within a neighborhood of the first object at a shortest neighborhood distance from the first object. Navigation is performed to the second object to keep the focus within the neighborhood.

Abstract: A portable electronic device having an input device for receiving a gesture based input from a user is used to control a navigation operation of an appliance. The portable electronic device receives via the input device the gesture based input and uses one or more parameters stored in a memory of the portable electronic device and one or more characteristics associated with the gesture based input to cause the portable electronic device to transmit a navigation step command to thereby control the navigation operation of the appliance.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to view, manipulate, and share videos within a gaming platform implemented as an advisory services network. Within the context of a serious game designed around a complex business problem of an organization, players can review videos conveying ethnographic information, mark segments of the videos, tag the videos or segments for categorization, create discussions around the videos or segments, add the videos or segments as evidence to a dossier, embed the videos or segments into existing discussions, or the like.

Abstract: An interactive centerpiece system includes a plurality of tablet computers with interactive display devices for displaying slideshows of photograph image data. A substantially flat base with opposing upper and lower surfaces is also provided. The base is formed to lay flat on a table in a table position whereat a base central axis that is perpendicular to both the upper and lower surfaces substantially aligns with a geometric center of the table, to surround a surface area defined by an outer perimeter, about which the plurality of docking stations, into which one of the tablet computers is fixed, are arranged at substantially equal distances from each other. The docking stations are configured to face the interactive display devices outward and define a usable area between the docking stations and the base central axis for uses including receiving traditional event centerpieces.

Abstract: Remote commissioning for an automation system enables a retailer to sell a new device to a customer pre-configured to work together with devices that are already a part of the user's automation system. Knowledge of how the devices are likely to be used at the automation system's location, a list of existing devices already installed and how they are configured, possible input from the customer, and the end user's current usage patterns are optionally used to configure the devices before they leave the store. Assisted local commissioning for an automation device enables an end user to commission devices themselves by simplifying the installation and commissioning process. The system uses a reference database of devices that includes information on how to commission the devices along with user-manual information and pictures for physical installation, and setup instructions so the system can walk a user through the process step by step.

Abstract: A system is provided that automatically manages data consistency of a web application. When the system sends a data entity to a user interface component that the system has determined is an updatable user interface component, the system stores a version indicator for the data entity within a resource scope. When the system receives a request to update the data entity, the system compares the version indicator stored within the resource scope with a version indicator stored within a data store. When the two version indicators are identical, the system updates the data entity. When the two version indicators are not identical, the system raises an exception.

Abstract: An approach is provided for controlling access to a resource. Visual representations of the resource and an entity and a second entity are included in a display. In the display, a movement of the entity visual representation (EVR) to a position proximate to a boundary of the resource visual representation (RVR) is detected. Based on an attribute assigned to the EVR being determined to satisfy an access control requirement (ACR) assigned to the RVR, the EVR is permitted to move across and be placed within the boundary of the RVR. A movement of the second entity visual representation (SEVR) to another position proximate to the boundary of the RVR is detected. Based on an attribute assigned to the SEVR being determined to not satisfy the ACR, the SEVR is prevented from moving across and being placed within the boundary of the RVR.

Abstract: A graphical user interface is provided for navigating and/or manipulating content simply via touch of a touch-sensitive surface. The content may include discrete content items (e.g., songs, video clips, documents, web pages) and/or actions (e.g., place a call, read a message, play a game), and may or may not be hierarchical in nature. The interface may be presented on a touch-screen display, such that a user may navigate to a content item or action via a single touch on the display (e.g., with a finger or other tool), followed by gliding through any number of levels or clusters of nodes (representing content items, content compilations/categories and/or actions). The desired content item or action may be initiated automatically (e.g., opened, performed) simply by touching it, by lifting the gliding finger or by performing some other input (e.g., tapping a node, speaking a command, touching with a second finger).

Abstract: User interfaces for multiple display regions are described. One embodiment provides an array of non-overlapping windows that are created from a set of overlapping windows, and a user can select one of the non-overlapping windows to obtain an enlarged view of that selected window while keeping the other windows in their non-overlapping state. In one embodiment, the array of non-overlapping windows can include minimized windows or windows in other virtual desktops (e.g. windows in other “Spaces”) or both. In one embodiment, only windows of a selected application are shown in non-overlapping mode while opened windows of other applications are not shown.

The user-generated badge may be represented by a media token and have associated therewith a set of rules defining one or more activities to be completed. Activity data may be monitored via one or more data sources based upon the set of rules. An instance of the user-generated badge may be automatically awarded to individuals satisfying the set of rules.

The system may include a display, configured to display a representation of each of a subset of the plurality of functions, wherein each function of the subset is implementable upon selection of a representation corresponding to the function by a user and a processor, configured to dynamically generate the subset of the plurality of functions based, at least in part, on a likelihood for each of the functions that the user will select a corresponding representation. Abstract: User-based control over the operation of a mobile terminal is provided in response to detecting a user's touched position on one or more grip sensors in the mobile terminal. At least one icon set by the user to be displayed in response to detection of at least a predetermined amount of pressure on an actuated grip sensor is displayed depending on the detected touch position.

Abstract: A portable, computing device (100) schedules and monitors tasks and their state of completion during a work period. The device includes a touch-responsive graphical display (102). At the start of and during a work period, an operator (400) enters tasks into the device. Task icons (118, etc.) move across the screen at positions representative of the time. A central “bridge” indicator (124) marks the current time. When a task is due, its icon approaches the bridge. If the icon coincides with the bridge, the task is late and a portion of its icon changes color, indicating that the task is late. The display can be scrolled to left and right to enable “looking ahead” and back. The display can also be pinched and spread to reveal in a smaller or larger time-scale the workday contents. The device communicates data and instructions with a remote server (405) wirelessly.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide a mechanism to allow end users to install web applications and websites onto their desktop. In accordance with one or more embodiments, client-side code can be utilized to allow developers associated with a website to define boundaries associated with user interaction, and have those boundaries enforced by a run-time engine. In at least some embodiments, developers can provide, through JavaScript code and/or HTML markup, various configurations for the creation of a start menu shortcut, navigation, and so-called jumplist integration.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a computing device determines a touch gesture on a touch screen of the computing device. The touch gesture includes two or more data points that each correspond to a particular location on the touch screen and a particular point in time. For each of one or more of the data points, the computing device adjusts a time value representing its particular point in time. For each of one or more of the data points, the computing device adjusts a position value representing its particular location on the touch screen. The computing device fits a curve to the two or more data points to determine a user intent associated with the touch gesture.
