  • Patent number: 7447517
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed wherein timeslots designated in a wireless communication system as Common Physical Channel (CPCH) timeslots may be reused for user traffic. A CPCH timeslot used in a first cell may be reused by a second cell, assuming the first and second cells transmit control information in different CPCH timeslots, for user traffic. The second cell is permitted to reuse the timeslot in which the first cell is transmitting control information so long as the second cell's reuse of that timeslot does not degrade reception of control information in the first cell.

  • Patent number: 7444170
Abstract: Wireless communications are transmitted from at least two radioterminals to a base station co-channel over a return link using a return link alphabet. Wireless communications are also transmitted from the base station to the at least two radioterminals over a forward link using a forward link alphabet that has more symbols than the return link alphabet. The co-channel signals are deciphered at the receiver, while the radioterminals can use a smaller return link alphabet, which can reduce the power dissipation at the radioterminals.

  • Patent number: 7440765
Abstract: A method for generation of a clock synchronized with time reference signals derived from input signals in an apparatus of a telecommunications network comprising an input part receiving the input signals and a treatment part for treatment of the input signals. In the input part the method comprises the steps of deriving the time reference signals from the input signals, reading an edge of the reference signals, establishing the position of this edge relative to the internal data frame, inserting in the frame heading a pointer representing the established position of the edge relative to the frame and sending the frame to the treatment part. In the treatment part the method comprises the steps of receiving the frame, extracting the pointer, generating the time reference clock and synchronizing it with the position in the frame indicated by the pointer. An apparatus applying this method is also proposed.

  • Patent number: 7433674
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for credit based management of a telecommunication system. One embodiment of the apparatus includes an interface for communicating credit information on a particular subscriber and for receiving call records for the particular subscriber that are derived from a switch which establishes connections between telecommunication devices. A credit limit device then utilizes the credit information to establish a credit limit for the subscriber. The apparatus also includes a device for comparing the particular subscriber's call usage to a credit limit established for the subscriber based on information obtained from the credit bureau. An output device is used to provide an indication that the subscriber has exceeded their credit limit. Another embodiment of the apparatus, includes a device for, upon expiration of a predetermined time period, contacting the credit bureau to obtain a new credit score for a subscriber and use this score to update the subscriber's credit limit.

  • Patent number: 7417943
Abstract: An apparatus for communicating between an access endpoint and a mobile device endpoint comprising a network service center attached to the access endpoint. A memory stores a prototype corpus representing historical communication information. The network service center includes a processor to train the prototype corpus and create a plurality of records including a protocol trigger, training data and a user dictionary. The access endpoint sends the training data to endpoints to produce training data specific to classes of endpoints. The access endpoint and the mobile device endpoint communicate with one another, and the network service center collects communication data related to the communications interaction and stores the communication data in the memory. The processor generates feedback data based at least in part of the communication data. Advantages of the invention include the ability for network operators to optimize communication techniques based on network traffic.

  • Patent number: 7412253
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the emission power of an especially mobile emission station (MT). The aim of the invention is to keep the emission power to a minimum. To this end, a reception station (AP) which receives the emitted data (c1) as reception data (c1*) determines the measuring values of the same, and sends them to the emission station (MT) via a secure connection (DL) which is not, or is only slightly, affected by disturbances. The measuring values (c1*) depend on the data (c1) transferred by the signal.

  • Patent number: 7403754
Abstract: Described is a communication system including wireless client devices. In the described system, the client devices may be wrist-worn watches such as are in common use today, except that the watches are specially configured to receive transmissions from broadcast towers. A client device is associated with one or more home service regions, and is configured to receive personal messages on a home channel when in the home service region. The client device employs a self-assignment method to identify and select a home channel without the need for interaction by a user. A tower discovery method is employed to identify broadcast towers and available channels within a service region. A failover method is employed to identify a change in the broadcast system, and take appropriate action such as, for example, changing to another broadcast tower, selecting another frequency, selecting a sleep mode, as well as others.

  • Patent number: 7398098
Abstract: In a mobile communication system having a plurality of terminals including a diversity terminal, an adaptive array base station controls a down-link transmitting power waveform for a terminal establishing access such that transmitting power is decreased at a timing when a reception level of a chip antenna is measured and that transmitting power is increased at a timing when a reception level of a whip antenna as a transmission antenna is measured. In the diversity terminal, therefore, the whip antenna is more likely to be selected as a receiving antenna, thereby improving down-link reception performance.

  • Patent number: 7395028
Abstract: A satellite antenna switching apparatus has LNB ports to which LNBs are connected, receiver ports to which receivers that exchange signals with the LNBs are connected, cascade ports to which another switching apparatus is cascade-connected, and impedance circuits that function as means for detecting the signals exchanged between the LNBs and receivers. The impedance circuits provide impedances according to the connection states of the cascade ports, and are electrically disconnected from the signal paths when another switching apparatus is cascade-connected to the cascade ports. With this configuration, the satellite antenna switching apparatus suffers from less attenuation of the exchanged signals even in a cascade connection of a plurality of stages of switching apparatuses.
