  • Patent number: 8699469
Abstract: A subscriber unit, used for communicating in voiced communications at a first data rate and communicating at a second data rate for other data, suppresses a selected communication during communication rate modification. A determination is made as to whether the transmission requires a change in data rate, and a switching circuit responds by engaging a different communication channel. Blocking circuitry blocks transmissions until the different data rate is established. This provides an optimum data rate, while preserving the integrity of the data transmitted.

  • Patent number: 8693459
Abstract: Provided is a polarization division multiplexed optical OFDM transmitter. The polarization division multiplexed optical OFDM transmitter includes a data demultiplexer, a training symbol generation unit and an optical up-converter and polarization division multiplexing unit. The data demultiplexer divides a transmission signal into a plurality of groups. The training symbol generation unit allocates a plurality of training symbols for each OFDM data which is included in the respective multiplexed groups, and allocates repetitive data in a time domain for the respective training symbols for data of 0 to periodically appear for the respective training symbols in a frequency domain. The optical up-converter and polarization division multiplexing unit performs optical frequency band conversion and polarization division multiplexing on an output of the training symbol generation unit to output a polarization division multiplexed optical OFDM signal corresponding to a plurality of polarization components.

  • Patent number: 8670424
Abstract: A wireless communication system includes an apparatus capable of detecting whether a cell coverage is downscaled. The wireless communication system receives information used for communication between an evolved NodeB (eNodeB) and a User Equipment (UE) from the eNodeB. The UE performs at least one of pilot signal power checking for checking if a pilot signal power falls within a first reference range, DownLink (DL) Signal-to-Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR) checking for checking if an SINR of a DL traffic channel falls within a second reference range, and UpLink (UL) SINR checking for checking if an SINR of an UL traffic channel falls within a third reference range using the received information. The UE also detects whether a cell coverage of a cell to which the eNodeB and the UE belongs is downscaled based on a checking result.

  • Patent number: 8665901
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for performing reverse auto-negotiation, in which one network device establishes a link with another network device at a preferred operating mode (e.g., the lowest speed) common to both devices without linking twice. The physical layer of a local network device (local PHY) may stall the normal auto-negotiation process with the link partner, while receiving the abilities of the link partner. The local PHY may then transmit a signal having only the preferred common operating mode (e.g., the lowest speed) encoded within. The link partner may then conclude that the local PHY is only capable of the preferred common operating mode (e.g., the lowest speed) and a link between the two devices may be established at that common mode.

  • Patent number: 8625553
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing communication over a white space channel without causing interference are disclosed. The method generates a first request to identify at least one available white space channel, and applies a spreading sequence to the first request to generate a second request. The method applies a modulation to the second request to generate a third request in the time domain, and transmits the third request via a wireless communication to at least one other user. Alternatively, the method receives a request wirelessly, wherein the request comprises a request for availability of at least one white space channel, and applies a demodulation on the request to generate a demodulated request. The method applies a spreading sequence on the demodulated request to generate a de-spread request, and processes the de-spread request by determining availability of at least one white space channel.

  • Patent number: 8605627
Abstract: A method of multicast route computation in a link state protocol controlled network. A spanning tree is computed from a first node to every other node in the network using a known spanning tree protocol. The network is then divided into two or more partitions, each partition encompassing an immediate neighbor node of the first node and any nodes of the network subtending the neighbor node on the spanning tree. Two or more of the partitions are merged when a predetermined criterion is satisfied. Nodes within all of the partitions except a largest one of the partitions are then identified, and each identified node examined to identify node pairs for which a respective shortest path traverses the first node.

  • Patent number: 8576822
Abstract: Disclosed are an apparatus for Channel State Information-Reference Signal (CSI-RS) allocation and a method for CSI-RS transmission using the same in a wireless communication system. A CSI-RS for each antenna port is allocated to REs or subcarriers on a basis of a symbol or symbol axis in a subframe or Resource Block (RB), and is allocated in such a manner that a distance between neighboring CSI-RS allocation REs or subcarriers may be 3 REs or subcarriers. Accordingly, in the range of following CSI-RS transmission overhead, CSI-RSs are allocated to a time-frequency resource domain in such a manner so as to have perfect orthogonality or quasi-orthogonality according to cells or cell groups. Then, the CSI-RSs, which have been allocated to the time-frequency resource domain, are transmitted.
