  • Patent number: 9210664
Abstract: A wireless device receives a control message configuring cell groups comprising a primary cell group and a secondary cell group. The wireless device receives a control command causing the wireless device to transmit a random access preamble on random access resources of a secondary cell in the secondary cell group. The wireless device transmits the random access preamble on the random access resources to the base station. Transmission timing of the random access preamble is determined, at least in part, employing uplink subframe transmission timing of the primary cell or a stored timing advance value.

  • Patent number: 9197388
Abstract: A radio base station eNB which periodically receives uplink control information including CQI through PUCCH, comprising: a storage unit 130 which stores a plurality of combinations of cqi-pmi-ConfigIndex (ICQI/PMI) for determining transmission timing of the uplink control information and cqi-PUCCH-ResourceIndex (n(2)PUCCH) for determining an orthogonal sequence used for transmitting the uplink control information; and a parameter assignment unit 121 which assigns one of the combinations of cqi-pmi-ConfigIndex (ICQI/PMI) and cqi-PUCCH-ResourceIndex (n(2)PUCCH) which are stored by the storage unit, to a radio terminal UE connected to the radio base station. The storage unit 130 stores the combinations while combining cqi-pmi-ConfigIndex (ICQI/PMI) which possibly cause overlap of the transmission timing of the uplink control information respectively with different cqi-PUCCH-ResourceIndex (n(2)PUCCH).

  • Patent number: 9179395
Abstract: Techniques for mitigating data loss during autonomous system information (SI) reading by a user equipment (UE) are described. For autonomous SI reading, the UE may autonomously determine when to read system information from neighbor cells and may not inform a serving cell. In one design, the UE may autonomously select a SI reading gap for reading system information from a neighbor cell. During the SI reading gap, the UE may suspend reception of downlink transmission from the serving cell, receive system information from the neighbor cell, and maintain capability to transmit on the uplink to the serving cell. In one design, the serving cell may determine SI reading gaps autonomously selected by the UE for reading system information from neighbor cells. The serving cell may communicate with the UE by accounting for the SI reading gaps of the UE, e.g., may suspend communication with the UE during the SI reading gaps.

  • Patent number: 9172551
Abstract: A form of multicast, referred to as “on-demand multicast,” provides a methodology that allows for “on demand” multicasting of data. On-demand multicast allows clients to join or leave a transmission at any point. There is no transmission session start or end time—the session is continuously available, although data is not necessarily continuously transmitted. Data blocks missed by late-joining clients are retransmitted per amalgamated client requests through multiple transmission cycles until all clients that have joined the transmission session receive all content. Once a client has received all data blocks comprising the content for the session, the client may exit the ongoing session.

  • Patent number: 9172510
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for an improved recovery for the downlink are described herein. In some aspects, delay and overhead associated with retransmission of data lost due to an interruption can be reduced and/or eliminated by configuring a receiver to generate and transmit status information following resumption from the interruption. The receiver can be configured to generate and transmit status information immediately upon resuming from the interruption. In some aspects, the receiver can be configured to automatically generate and transmit status information independent of receiving a polling request from the sender. Status information can indentify at least last received user data prior to the interruption. In some aspects, status information further identifies lost data due to the interruption.

  • Patent number: 9166729
Abstract: A method in a mobile communication terminal includes receiving a Multi-User Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MU-MIMO) signal, which includes at least a precoded transmission that is addressed to the terminal and which includes one or more Demodulation Reference Signals (DM-RS). Control information, which indicates one or more scrambling sequences and one or more orthogonalization sequences used in producing the DM-RS, is received in the mobile communication terminal. The control information is provided in a format that does not permit signaling of every possible scrambling sequence and orthogonalization sequence selection. The control information is interpreted in the mobile communication terminal so as to identify the scrambling sequences and orthogonalization sequences used in producing the DM-RS, and the DM-RS are demodulated using the identified scrambling sequences and orthogonalization sequences.

  • Patent number: 9077595
Abstract: Provided is a sequence allocation method capable of reducing inter-cell interference of a reference signal when a ZC sequence is used as the reference signal in a mobile communication system. In the sequence allocation method, R×M sequences specified by a ZC sequence number r (r=1 to R) and a cyclic shift sequence number m (m=1 to M) are divided into a plurality of sequence groups X (X=1 to R) in accordance with the transmission band width of the reference signal, so that the ZC sequence is allocated to each cell in each sequence group unit. When it is assumed that R=9 and M=6, the number of sequences is 54. Each of the sequence groups is formed by two sequences. Accordingly, the number of sequence groups is 27. The 27 types of sequence groups are allocated to each cell.

Abstract: Systems and methods provide a weight-based scheduling system that incorporates end-user application awareness and can be used with scheduling groups that contain data streams from heterogeneous applications. Individual data queues within a scheduling group can be created based on application class, specific application, individual data streams or some combination thereof. Application information and Application Factors (AF) are used to modify scheduler weights to differentiate between data streams assigned to a scheduling group. Dynamic AF settings may adjust relative importance of user applications to maximize user Quality of Experience (QoE) in response to recurring network patterns, one-time events, application characteristics, protocol characteristics, device characteristics, service level agreements, or combinations thereof.

  • Patent number: 9049733
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for use in a wireless system are described where initiation of packet transmission is constrained in accordance to control actual packet transmission in a manner that reduces contention and possible collisions beyond that provided by lower layer resource contention mechanisms, e.g., 802.11 carrier sensing and/or transmission back-off timing mechanisms. Through higher level, e.g., MAC constraints, on packet transmission initiation, an air interface which employs carrier sensing can be used and controlled in a manner which reduces collisions and interference in applications where small packets, e.g., packets which can be transmitted in a fraction of the maximum permitted transmission time. The methods allow small packets in such systems to be transmitted on a periodic or semi-periodic basis in many cases.
