  • Patent number: 9531586
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for performing reverse auto-negotiation, in which one network device establishes a link with another network device at a preferred operating mode (e.g., the lowest speed) common to both devices without linking twice. The physical layer of a local network device (local PHY) may stall the normal auto-negotiation process with the link partner, while receiving the abilities of the link partner. The local PHY may then transmit a signal having only the preferred common operating mode (e.g., the lowest speed) encoded within. The link partner may then conclude that the local PHY is only capable of the preferred common operating mode (e.g., the lowest speed) and a link between the two devices may be established at that common mode.

  • Patent number: 9521655
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for avoiding power scaling and controlling transmit power in uplink data transmission are provided. If a user equipment (UE) would be transmit-power limited when transmitting data concurrently on an uplink high speed dedicated physical control channel (HS-DPCCH) and an uplink data channel, the UE may forgo building data for transmission on the uplink data channel to avoid power scaling. If the UE would be transmit-power limited when transmitting data concurrently on an HS-DPCCH and a dedicated physical control channel (DPCCH), the UE may reduce the transmission power of a portion of the data transmitted on the DPCCH to avoid power scaling. The UE may also boost transmission power of a negative acknowledge transmission above network-specified power level.

  • Patent number: 9514627
Abstract: This document describes techniques and apparatuses for limiting processing resources incurred due to refreshing a user interface. In various embodiments, an event is received, and it is determined whether a delay time period has elapsed. A length of the delay time period is based on a timing of receipt of one or more previous events. If the delay time period has not elapsed, refreshing of the user interface is postponed. When the delay time period elapses, the user interface is refreshed to display an indication of the event.

  • Patent number: 9509477
Abstract: This invention is directed to a terminal apparatus capable of preventing the degradation of reception quality of control information even in a case of employing SU-MIMO transmission system. A terminal (200), which uses a plurality of different layers to transmit two code words in which control information is placed, comprises: a resource amount determining unit (204) that determines, based on a lower one of the encoding rates of the two code words or based on the average value of the reciprocals of the encoding rates of the two code words, resource amounts of control information in the respective ones of the plurality of layers; and a transport signal forming unit (205) that places, in the two code words, the control information modulated by use of the resource amounts, thereby forming a transport signal.

  • Patent number: 9504034
Abstract: A radio system having multiple bearers overlays a relatively narrowband bearer such as P25 on a relatively wideband bearer such as LTE, for transmission of both uplink and downlink signals. The wideband bearer uses a spectrum of subcarriers which form a set of radio frequency blocks. One or more blocks or other related parts of the spectrum may be allocated to the narrowband bearer. In some cases the narrowband bearer may push through the wideband allocation using a relatively high power to dominate signals transmitted by the wideband bearer. Voice calls such as emergency calls using the narrowband bearer may be prioritized.

  • Patent number: 9408184
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for protecting a multiuser (MU) transmission between an access point and a plurality of wireless stations. The access point may transmit a frame that is addressed to multiple stations in a wireless network. Each of the stations addressed by the frame may respond with an identical clear-to-send frame. In some instances, the clear-to-send frames transmitted by each wireless station may utilize the same scrambling code utilized by the frame transmitted by the access point, use the same modulation and coding scheme, and/or occupy the same frequency bands such that the multiple clear-to-send frames are combined in the air and detected as a single frame by the access point. In some instances, the access point may thereafter transmit an uplink reference frame to trigger the wireless stations to transmit an uplink data request frame to the access point.
