  • Patent number: 10971947
Abstract: A system and method for controlling a number of load controllers (10), each of which is operatively connected to one or more electrical loads (6) that are connected to a grid, results in a reduction in tracking errors, which arise when aggregated local devices fail to deliver the expected amount of responsive load service. Each load controller (10) monitors the operating frequency of the grid network (8) and is adapted to adjust power consumption of one or more of its electrical loads (6) in response to excursions of the operating network frequency from its nominal value. The load controllers (10) are in communication with a remote controller (14) and aggregated together to provide a responsive load service. The remote controller (14) is adapted to monitor the deviation of grid frequency from its nominal value and to determine adjustments to the responsive load service delivered by the electrical loads of each load controller.

  • Patent number: 10905372
Abstract: An alertness prediction bio-mathematical model for use in devices such as a wearable device that improves upon previous models of predicting fatigue and alertness by gathering data from the individual being monitored to create a more accurate estimation of alertness levels. The bio-mathematical model may be a two-process algorithm which incorporates a sleep-wake homeostasis aspect and a circadian rhythm aspect. The sleep-wake homeostasis aspect of the model is improved by using actigraphy measures in conjunction with distal skin, ambient light and heart rate measures to improve the accuracy of the sleep and wake estimations. The circadian rhythm model aspect improves fatigue prediction and estimation by using distal skin, heart rate and actigraphy data. The sleep-wake homeostasis and circadian rhythm aspects may also be combined with additional objective and subjective measures as well as information from a user to improve the accuracy of the alertness estimation even further.

  • Patent number: 10878693
Abstract: Methods and systems to improve the accuracy of traffic signal state change predictions are disclosed. Predictions can be broadcast to vehicle drivers or autonomous systems to improve safety, fuel efficiency and reduce delays. Predictions for fixed-time signals are generated based on their scheduled timing plan and the current clock/time, but these predictions are subject variations, for example, due to traffic signal controller clock drift. Real-time actual, not predicted, data is collected and utilized to correct for these variations. Further, real-time probe data is collected and used to validate correctness of the generated predictions in real time. In one embodiment, GPS data from travelers' devices is utilized to assess validity of the generated predictions, looking particularly at signal stop line crossings relative to predicted green time window. If crossings observed in real time contradict the predicted signal state, the data service providing predictions to users may be suspended.

  • Patent number: 10868607
Abstract: User equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode radio resource control (RRC) signaling from a base station, the RRC signaling indicating a transmission coding scheme for a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmission. PUSCH-to-phase tracking reference signal (PT-RS) energy per resource element (EPRE) ratio is determined using the RRC signaling. A PT-RS power boosting factor is determined based on the transmission coding scheme and the PUSCH-to-PT-RS EPRE ratio. The PT-RS is encoded for transmission using a plurality of PT-RS symbols, the transmission using increased transmission power corresponding to the PT-RS power boosting factor. The RRC signaling further includes a flag enabling the PT-RS transmission. The PUSCH-to-PT-RS EPRE ratio is 00 or 01, and the transmission coding scheme is a codebook-based uplink transmission or non-codebook-based uplink transmission.
