  • Patent number: 10753138
Abstract: A vehicular collision avoidance system includes a remote communicator disposed exterior and remote from the vehicle and operable to communicate information regarding location and motion of the remote communicator relative to the vehicle. A receiver at the vehicle receives a communication from the remote communicator, and a control at the vehicle includes a processor that processes information communicated by the remote communicator and received at the receiver. The control, responsive to processing communicated information, determines the location and motion of the remote communicator relative to the vehicle. A side sensing device is disposed at a side of the vehicle and operable to capture data, which is processed to determine approach of the remote communicator to the vehicle. Data captured by the side sensing device and information communicated by the remote communicator are processed at the control to determine a potential collision between the remote communicator and the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10757207
Abstract: Techniques for amalgamating various types of signals (including ad hoc and regular-interval signals) to determine presence and/or absence of individuals are described. A signal may be assigned a time period with respect to which the signal may be relied on for purposes of presence or vacancy calculations. The time period may vary alternatively be assigned based on when another signal of the same type will be received. A system may receive a user input requesting whether an individual is present near a device or in a location. In response, the system may identify signals that were received and associated with the device or location. The system may determine, for each signal, a weight that the signal should be applied with in presence calculations. The system may calculate a presence or absence confidence based on each signal's time period of usefulness and weight.

  • Patent number: 10663582
Abstract: A detection device includes a transmitter, an extraction unit, and a detector. The transmitter causes an ultrasonic sensor used in a vehicle to successively transmit a first transmission wave of a first frequency and a second transmission wave of a second frequency. The extraction unit extracts a frequency component from a reflected wave received by the ultrasonic sensor, the reflected wave having a reception level greater than a predetermined threshold. The detector detects an obstacle based on an extraction result of the component of the frequency. An amplitude level of the second transmission wave is greater than an amplitude level of the first transmission wave. The amplitude level of the first transmission wave is set to make the reception level of the reflected wave of the first transmission wave from a road surface less than or equal to the predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 10650661
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring adherence to a dosing-regimen for a medication is presented. Systems in accordance with the present invention automatically monitor the medicine content of a blister card based on the state of its lidding film and compare it to the prescribed dosing regimen for the medicine. In some embodiments, the lidding film is imaged using a tomographic imaging technique, such as electrical resistance tomography or electrical impedance tomography. Alternative sensing approaches are based on optical, acoustic, and tactile sensors that interrogate either the dispensing region at each tablet location or the tablets themselves to determine whether tablets have been dispensed. Automatic monitoring of the blister card enables the user to be: (1) alerted to non-compliance, (2) alerted to a risk of future non-compliance, and/or (3) to be provided remediation instructions when non-compliance is determined.
