Abstract: A method for planning menus for an extended period of time utilizing a device comprising a planning board, a deck of meal menu cards and at least one daily totals strip. The device may further comprise a card display apparatus. The planning board contains a plurality of columns representing days and each column has a plurality of spaces representing meals in a day. At one end of the columns, there is a totals strip with information sections including indicia setting forth daily limits or goals for specific nutritional factors. The meal menu cards contain indicia setting forth a balanced meal and the cards include information sections with indicia setting forth nutritional factors for the meal. The information sections on the cards and the totals strip are each coded with a visually discernable characteristic such as color. Nutritional information from each card in a given column is totalled and compared with the daily goals or limits indicated on the totals strip.

  • Patent number: 5018975
Abstract: A game card includes a playing matrix with squares arranged in rows and columns. Starter words or starter letters may be pre-printed in the playing matrix. The player examines advertisements to derive words which are to be inserted in the playing matrix. Aligned with the rows of the playing matrix are spaces for the player to identify the sources of the advertisements or for the sources to be identified to the player. A word completion matrix aligned with the rows of the playing matrix is provided to receive the terminal portions of any words that are too long for the playing matrix. After the player has completed the playing matrix he examines it in an attempt to find the maximum number of row words in the rows of the playing matrix and the maximum number of column words in the columns of the playing matrix.

  • Patent number: 5015190
Abstract: A method for planning the design of a region and the positioning of objects in the region. A first layout having a first layout area is disposed in the region to represent placement of an object such as an article of furniture within the region in a pre-determined relationship with the region. A second layout having a second layout area is disposed in combination with the first layout to form a layout combination having a combined layout area. The combined layout are is adjusted in accordance with the dimensions of the object being represented. In order to adjust the combined layout area one layout may be disposed over a portion of the other layout. The combined area of the two layers can be adjusted by adjusting the amount of area of one layout disposed over the other. Additionally, the combined area can be adjusted by folding or cutting at least one of the two layouts.

  • Patent number: 5013244
Abstract: A kit includes a first dispenser, a second dispenser and a colorimetric scale. The first dispenser stores and dispenses a first sun screening agent of a low sun protection factor of a first color. The second dispenser stores and dispenses a second sun screening agent of a high sun protection factor of a second color. The first sun screening agent and the second sun screening agent may be mixed together in order to obtain sun screening agent of intermediate sun protection factor and the first and second colors are blended. The colorimetric scale includes a plurality of representations of shades of blends of the first and second colors and a plurality of designations of sun protection factors. Each designation of sun protection factors has been calibrated to correlate with one of the representations of shades of the blended first and second colors in order to determine the sun protection factor of the intermediate sun screening agent.

  • Patent number: 5006000
Abstract: An educational and entertaining device stimulates learning, creativity, imagination, and artistic interpretation. The principal elements in the device are flexible magnetic character pieces and geometrically shaped metallic chips which, when magnetized, form solid replicas in the shape of the flexible magnetic character pieces. The invention is activated by placing a preformed, flexible magnetic alphabet letter, numeral, animal or other character piece on an image board located in a bottom half of the device. Alternatively, separate magnetic character pieces may also be placed on the image board to form a series of artistic impressions. Once the device is closed and secured, the user shakes the device, thus causing the geometrically shaped metallic chips to form an impressionistic picture. All of the alphabet letters, numerals, animals, and other artistic shapes may be created by repeating the process with different flexible magnetic character pieces.

  • Patent number: 4998882
Abstract: Colored yarn poms are color coded according to a six digit coding and are arranged in a particular manner to enable color selection for carpets to be performed by designers, architects and the like without actually examining a sample carpet or a portion of carpet. The color poms are arranged in groups of which one pom defines the base color, and the remaining poms in that group are shaded poms, tint poms and tone poms. The triangular layout provides that the base color bunch is at the apex of a right angled triangle with the shades extending down one of the smaller sides of the triangle and the tints extending down the other side with the tones lying between the shades and the tints. The triangle is an isosceles triangle.

Abstract: An educational toy for teaching construction and recognition of predetermined individual forms, comprising a plurality of elemental components having shapes and sizes to constitute component parts of predetermined forms, especially letters of the alphabet. A minimum number of distinctively shaped parts can be selectively arranged to make a large number of predetermined forms. Each distinctively shaped part is also distinctively colored to facilitate selection. Illustrations are provided of the several letters or other forms, using the color coding of the elemental components, preferably in the form of individual cards. A dot code is also printed in association with each illustration, to facilitate a determination of the number of parts of each color necessary to make the illustrated form.
