  • Patent number: 5669451
Abstract: A floating row crop cultivator rig is supported behind a rigid guide tire. A guide wheel standard straddles a bracket which mounts the forward end of a rig parallel bar linkage to a toolbar. A tool support depends from the aft end of the parallel bar linkage and carries a ground engaging element directly rearwardly of the guide tire. Instead of a conventional rig tire to control rig depth, an adjustable length member with a lost motion connection controls the lowermost position of the linkage and thus of the tool support while permitting upward movement of the linkage when an obstacle is encountered. A rod threaded through a trunnion on the tool support has a forward end supported in a slotted bracket on the lower bar of the parallel linkage to adjustably limit the lowermost position of the linkage while permitting the linkage to pivot upwardly against the bias of rig weight and an adjustable down pressure spring arrangement to clear obstacles.

  • Patent number: 5657559
Abstract: A rigging assembly for a dragline bucket has first and second hoist chains coupled to the bucket and first and second pickup links above the hoist chains. The chains extend along first and second axes, respectively, and define a fleet angle between them. In the improvement, the pickup links define a link angle between them which is substantially equal to the fleet angle. The pickup links are coupled with respect to respective hoist sockets by pins, the hoist chains are coupled with respect to the pickup links by other pins and all of the pins have substantially equal cross-sectional areas. Most preferably, the pins are identical to one another for parts "commonality.

  • Patent number: 5642607
Abstract: An implement includes a mid-mounted pivot tongue that is movable in a normal range of movement when the implement is working and to a transport position for towing the implement endwise when the implement is to be transported. Two embodiments of a stroke control device are provided and each acts to limit the stroke of a tongue-swing hydraulic actuator to operate for swinging the tongue through its operating range during normal operation of the implement, with each stroke control device being selectively operable to a stroke-freeing position permitting the actuator to operate through its entire stroke for moving the tongue beyond its operating range to a transport position. The stroke control devices and the tongue include cooperating structure for locking the tongue in its transport position.

  • Patent number: 5640945
Abstract: An improved paintball and gun therefor cooperate so that the range of the paintball and its accuracy are significantly improved. The external surface of the paintball is contoured so as to increase frictional interaction with air, and the barrel of the paintball gun interacts differentially with the upper and lower hemispheres of the ball so that significant backspin is imparted to the paintball. Accordingly, the paintball experiences lift in flight which substantially increases its range and accuracy. The interaction of the ball with the barrel may be wholly aerodynamic. The interior of the paintball is preferably baffled so that paint therein rotates with the shell, preventing the backspin from being damped out rapidly.

  • Patent number: 5638618
Abstract: A plow assembly is disclosed for vehicles such as pickup trucks and tractors for moving snow or other materials. The plow assembly has at least one extendable, forwardly pivotable plow wing which is extendable on one end of a main plow by sliding movement along the front of the plow between a retracted and an extended position in which the plow wing is generally aligned with the plow front surface. The plow wing is also pivotally mounted on a hinge for movement between the extended position and a forwardly angled position in which the plow wing front surface extends at an angle to the plow front surface. A power source connected to the plow wing is operable to move the wing between the retracted, extended and forwardly angled positions. Preferably, a latch assembly prevents pivotal movement of the plow wing to the forwardly angled position until the plow wing is in the extended position.

  • Patent number: 5630406
Abstract: The present invention features an improved paint-ball pistol, which has two detent-pin mechanisms, one of which firmly affixes the front receiver of the gun to the trigger housing, and one of which that firmly affixes the barrel to the front receiver. In the event that either the front receiver must be detached from the trigger housing or the barrel from the front receiver (as in those instances when a paint-ball capsule ruptures therein), the detent-pin mechanism allows for immediate and almost instantaneous removal thereof. The detent-pin mechanisms each have a knob that is movable between a locked and a retracted position, and a screw that is affixed to the knob. The screws extend from the knobs through the front of the trigger housing and through the forward portion of the front receiver. The ends of the screws extend beyond the inner trigger housing surface and beyond the inner front receiver surface and into the holes in the outer surfaces of the front receiver and the barrel of the gun.

  • Patent number: 5617879
Abstract: A sealing arrangement for a rotating coolant union for preventing leakage forward between the outer surface of a seal carrier of a floating seal assembly of the coolant union and the inner wall of the housing, includes an O-ring seal and an annular back-up ring. The O-ring is mounted on the seal carrier and extends into an annular groove defined in the inner surface of the housing, with the width of the groove being greater than the outer diameter of the O-ring seal to permit the O-ring seal to be moved within groove in response to axial sliding movement of the seal carrier. The back-up ring encircles the support member and includes a radially projecting portion that extends into the groove and defines a slanting surface for a corner of the groove, the slanting surface being engaged by the O-ring seal during relative axial movement between the seal carrier and housing for limiting movement of the seal within the groove.
