  • Patent number: 5507351
Abstract: This invention provides an improved apparatus for maintaining tooth rotating wheels, which are used to penetrate the soil either as a cultivating apparatus, a row cleaning apparatus, or as closing apparatus for row planters free of mulch, trash, dirt and/or rocks. By removing the debris from the space between the teeth on the wheel, the wheel can penetrate the soil to a controlled or desired depth as set by the operator. Debris between the wheels can limit the depth of penetration by the formation of a solid or semi-solid mass generally resembling of variable rim diameter. The wheels may be driven by a power mechanism or may be rotated by the penetration in the ground and the forward motion of a propulsion unit. The toothed wheel is kept clean of debris, thereby allowing accurate depth penetration as determined by conditions and requirements.

  • Patent number: 5505267
Abstract: A control system for engaging, disengaging and re-engaging a differential locking mechanism in an agricultural vehicle includes a control circuit configured to receive signals representative of vehicle operating parameters and to generate control signals corresponding to the desired state (i.e. engaged or disengaged) of a differential locking mechanism for limiting relative velocity between two driven wheels. Sensors are associated with the rear wheels, rear service brakes, implement positioning circuit, the vehicle body and the front axle to provide parameter signals related to wheel speed, braking, implement position and vehicle speed. Control logic executed by the control circuit in a continuously cycled routine determines the desired state of the differential locking mechanism based upon the operating parameters. The control circuit applies an appropriate control signal to the differential locking mechanism causing engagement or disengagement in accordance with the desired state.

  • Patent number: 5505501
Abstract: A connection is formed by a cylindrical body and a cylindrical orifice. The cylindrical body includes axial ring rims for the locking therein of a conical rim of an insert tube. The cylindrical body has triangular and trapezoidal annular reliefs for fitting the cylindrical body into the cylindrical orifice, under pressure, for the flow of brake fluid therethrough. The cylindrical body accepts the insertion of an O-ring and a sleeve with a grip which snap around a brake fluid tube inserted over the insert tube. The body is equipped with annular reliefs forming a groove where the conical rim of the insert tube is inserted after receiving a downward upper axial thrust from a press to allow the use of the insert tube in connections for brake systems with cartridge, compression type and threaded type fastening. The insert tube maintains a fixed, but non-rigid connection, so as not to suffer damages during the side to side insertion and withdrawal process for brake fluid tubes.

  • Patent number: 5503091
Abstract: A light-weight turf conditioning machine provides programmable subterranean soil processing. The machine includes a set of electronically controlled air guns that are mounted on a frame a given distance above the ground. Each air gun disperses a high pressure stream of fluid into the ground in a vertically aligned cylindrical shape drilling holes into a golf green. The holes are drilled using a hydrated polymer that absorbs and releases moisture in a controlled fashion fostering plant growth. A programmable controls circuit controls the rate, pattern and depth in which holes are drilled into a golf green. A portable storage tank is fluidly joined by a hose to the air guns. The hose allows the storage tank to spaced from the machine as the air guns are carried over the golf green.

  • Patent number: 5501036
Abstract: The present invention is a lawn edging device adapted to be used adjacent borders of walks and plant beds wherein the anchoring portion of the device includes opposing blades that facilitates storage and shipping by eliminating the necessity of external packaging. The edging utilizes a conventional longitudinally extending upper body portion with a vertical anchoring barrier depending therefrom. The anchoring barrier is formed integral to the upper body portion and utilizes a projecting blade positioned on one side of the barrier and receptacle for receiving the blade on the second side of the barrier. When the edging device is wound into a coil, for purposes of shipping and storage, the projecting blade on the first side is inserted into the receiving section on the second side of the anchoring barrier. The blades operate to align the circular bead of the upper body portion into a similar plane so as to provide a coiling of uniform shape.

  • Patent number: 5499685
Abstract: A movable, row crop soil conditioner apparatus for conditioning soil prior to planting including a mechanism for first cutting a row length furrow opening in the soil when the soil conditioner is moved. A subsoiler is positioned behind the first cutting mechanism. It is selectively inserted into the furrow opening when the subsoiler is moved. The subsoiler includes a tooth, and a first pressure applicator for maintaining pressure on the soil directly and laterally on the subsoiler tooth when the tooth is inserted into the furrow opening. The tooth causes an eruption furrow in the furrow opening. The pressure applicator then controls the eruption soil wakes on either side of the subsoiler when the row crop conditioner is moved down a row. The subsoiler also includes a mechanism for turning the soil wakes on either side of the furrow inwardly towards each other to crush and shear the soil and to urge it downwardly into the eruption furrow, thereby closing the eruption furrow.

  • Patent number: 5497715
Abstract: A metering drive mechanism is provided for use with a seed depositing implement adapted for movement across the ground. The mechanism includes a gauge wheel, an arm assembly supporting the gauge wheel for rolling engagement with the ground, and a mounting bracket on which the arm assembly pivots. The mechanism restricts upward pivoting movement of the arm assembly beyond a predetermined position, thus establishing the height of the implement. However, downward movement of the arm assembly is allowed in order to permit the gauge wheel to remain in contact with the ground at all times during travel. A spring urges the wheel against the ground with a force that remains constant, even when the predetermined position of the arm assembly relative to the bracket is changed to vary the height of the implement.

  • Patent number: 5498097
Abstract: A mounting clamp for mounting a power supply to a thermal freight container wherein a stop is employed for insertion into the ISO castings of the thermal freight container and for clamping the power supply to the thermal freight container. A shaft with the stop attached on one end is supported by a base such that the shaft may rotate around and move along its longitudinal axis. A handle is attached to the shaft such that rotation of the handle causes the shaft to rotate which in turn causes the stop to rotate. A locking device is provided to engage the handle for locking the rotational movement of the handle in either a clamp or unclamp position. A fastening device cooperates with the shaft such that it controls the shaft's movement along its longitudinal axis.
