  • Patent number: 5480083
Abstract: A device for separating sections of a perforated tubular web includes a pulling mechanism and a tearing mechanism. Each of these mechanisms has opposing rollers positioned facing each other on either side of the tubular section being separated. Continuous conveyor belts run over these rollers. The rollers of the tearing mechanism can be moved by a control element toward the tubular web. To prevent slippage of the web within the pulling mechanism when the tubular sections are being torn, the pulling mechanism is also provided with a control element which moves the rollers or cylinders of the pulling mechanism in a direction perpendicular to the tubular web in order to increase the pressure on the tubular web. The control element of the pulling mechanism is synchronized with a control element of the tearing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5480081
Abstract: A tile cutting apparatus includes a unit base for holding a tile and guide rods above and running parallel to the base. The guide rods carry a scoring/breaking assembly along a scoring and breaking path. The base includes, on its upper surface, a breaker spline inserted therein and extending along the scoring path. The base's upper surface also includes resilient pads supporting stainless steel rest plates on both sides of the breaker spline. The spline is oriented at a slight angle with respect to the surface of the rest plates to facilitate breaking. The scoring/breaking assembly includes a spring for applying constant pressure to a cutting wheel throughout the scoring operation. The scoring/breaking assembly is constructed such that a single handle allows the user to engage and disengage the cutting wheel, score the tile while maintaining a constant scoring pressure and break the tile. The apparatus includes a molded cover and base that minimize excess assembly and parts.

  • Patent number: 5477763
Abstract: A saw blade including a basic body (1) with a plurality of unset teeth along the edge of the basic body, each tooth having a cutting edge. The teeth are provided in recurring cycles on the saw blade. Each recurring cycle has at least one group of teeth (2) comprised of at least two teeth therein, the teeth being formed symmetrically with respect to a longitudinal center plane (8) along which the basic body lies. • Patent number: 5473966
Abstract: A device and method for reducing the area of a transdermal patch without altering its pharmacokinetic profile are provided. The area of a transdermal patch is reduced by aligning the patch at a location on a template which uniquely matches a dimension of the patch. The patch is then cut along a line defined by an edge of the template when the patch is at the aligned location. The template can be selected from a group of templates which correspond to the desired percentage of area reduction of the patch. A sizing template for proportionally reducing the size of a transdermal patch which is one of a group of orthogonal patches of differing sizes is also provided. The template comprises a planar member having a straight bottom edge and a stepped top edge. The width of each step on the top edge is configured to uniquely match the width of one of the transdermal patches in the group. The height of the step defines a cutting line on which the patch is to be cut to achieve a preselected percentage of size reduction.

  • Patent number: 5473968
Abstract: A portable saw table which comprises an elongated saw table and a saw track pivotally mounted therebetween for a rotation about an axis substantially perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the table base. A saw slide mounted on the saw track and supports a portable saw. A support at each end of the saw table allows the portable saw table to be tilted relative to the supports about a second axis parallel to the axis of the table. A sector member is pivotally connected to the table base so that as the table base is tilted, the sector member is moved in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the saw table. The sector member provides stability and guides the table and saw track. Thus, the table base, saw track and sector member can be tilted relative to the supports while the saw track is allowed to pivot relative to the table base and the sector member. A locking device on the supports engages the sector member to lock the saw table in a tilted position.

  • Patent number: 5467678
Abstract: An equalizer assembly that integrates into the die cutting station of a press and comprises two hydraulic actuators, each of which interacts with one of the jackscrews of the press to create an internal hydraulic pressure. The internal pressure of a first of the hydraulic actuators corresponds to a loading force that is imparted upon the rotary cutting die proximate to a first end of the rotary cutting die, and the internal pressure of a second of the hydraulic actuators corresponds to a loading force that is imparted upon the rotary cutting die proximate to a second end of the rotary cutting die. The hydraulic actuators are in fluid communication with one another such that the hydraulic pressures therein are maintained substantially equal to define an overall system hydraulic pressure, and the hydraulic actuators are designed and arranged so that the loading forces generated thereby are substantially equal.

  • Patent number: 5446965
Abstract: A cake slicer and divider includes a core with a plurality of arms detachably securable thereto to project radially from the core. The core includes locators, such as slots to support the arms, the locators being positioned in an array on the core whereby a plurality of arms may be attached to the core to extend radially from the core. Each pair of adjacent arms defines a segment and the number of segments is variable in dependence on the number of arms that are attached to the core. Each arm is an elongate planar member with a cutting edge on its under edge. A force transmitting member is provided at an upper end of the core whereby hand pressure on the force transmitting member imparts a downward force on the core and arms to cause the cutting edges of the arms to slice the cake into segments enclosed between adjacent planar members so that the slicer and divider when in situ with the sliced cake protects the segments from air contact.

  • Patent number: 5442985
Abstract: In a work table apparatus for a plate material processing machine, a group of work supporting belts each extending in a work feed direction and divided in the direction perpendicular to the work feed direction are arranged so as to form a work table surface separated into front and rear support portions on both sides of a plate material processing section, and the work supporting belts are driven in the work feed direction in synchronism with the movement of the plate material to be processed. Therefore, no relative displacement is produced between the work support portions of the work supporting belts and the plate material to be processed. Thus, punched products of small size can be supported securely without damaging the microjoint portions of the processed products, scratching the plate material, and producing sound noise.

  • Patent number: 5440958
Abstract: An automatic device for stacking sheets of paper is improved for increasing the amount of stacked sheets. An image tracing output device is so constructed that a sheet exiting from a sheet exit portion is guided to the exterior of a fixed rod of sheet stacking unit by a plate for putting sheet flow in good order. When the forwarded amount of the sheet attains approximately a half of a predetermined length, a contacting portion supported by swinging rods descends to be brought into contact with the sheet. The contacting portion continues to descend further to be brought into contact with the fixed rod. As the result, the sheet is hung also on the inner side of the fixed rod. When it attains a predetermined length, it is cut and the swinging rods return to their initial position.

  • Patent number: 5433421
Abstract: A vibration isolating apparatus in which a vibrating body, which is disposed within a pressure-receiving liquid chamber and is connected to a mounting member such that a gap is formed between an inner wall surface of the pressure-receiving liquid chamber and the vibrating body, is disposed. An elongated limiting passage is formed in the vibrating body so as to penetrate therethrough. The limiting passage communicates the pressure-receiving liquid chamber and an auxiliary liquid chamber provided within the mounting member. When there is low-frequency vibration, there is liquid-column resonance of a liquid within the limiting passage. However, because the limiting passage is elongated, the liquid-column resonance of the liquid therein is large, and a high loss factor is obtained. Therefore, the low-frequency vibration is reliably absorbed. When there is high-frequency vibration, there is liquid-column resonance of the liquid in a vicinity of the gap.
