The first series extends to the measuring edge performing the measuring function, the second series pulling a short distance away from said edge providing a guidance means function while also indicating divisional breakdowns in fractions, millimeters and decimal hundredths.

    Abstract: A digital scaler for measuring and displaying a distance on a drawing surface comprising a first triangle with a verticle straight edge and a second triangle with a horizontal straight edge slightably engaged with the first triangle along the vertical straight edge. A drive in the form of a drive wheel and pulleys are connected between the first and second triangles and can be activated to displace the second triangle with its horizontal straight edge along the vertical straight edge of the first triangle. A horizontal displacement measuring device is connected to the first triangle and engageable with the drawing surface to measure the linear displacement of the first triangle when it is drawn horizontally across the drawing surface. A vertical displacement measuring device is connected to the drive wheel and measures the displacement of the second triangle along the vertical straight edge of the first triangle when the drive wheel is rotated.

    Abstract: A duct reinforcement and a method for building the reinforcement including a special tool for use in a preferred method are disclosed. The duct reinforcement includes a support washer on each of two opposing sides of the duct to be supported and a stiff wire extending through the sides of the ducts and both washers. The portion of the wire protruding beyond each support washer on the outside of the duct forms a hook with a tip of the wire substantially opposed to the outer face of the respective support washer. A preferred form of the support washer forms a volcano-shaped contour surrounding the washer hole on the outer face so that the tip of the wire makes contact with the washer inside the crest of the volcano-shaped contour. A preferred arrangement includes a rubbery seal between each support washer and the respective side of the duct to prevent leakage from the duct.

The sealing member provides a very effective seal relative to a spigot end (1a) of another pipe inserted in the pipe in question. The free ends of lip portions (6,7) of a sealing ring (4) (the cross section of which is of V-shape when undeformed) are provided with beads (8) so that behind a stiffening ring (5) surrounding said sealing ring (4) there is more volume of lip material than there is room for in the space confined by the adjacent part of the bottom of the groove (2), the exterior (1a') of said spigot end (1a), the rearmost sidewall (2') of the groove (2) and the stiffening ring (5). The pipe is preferably a plastic pipe.

    Abstract: A multilayer vessel or tube comprises an inner core tube and a plurality of supporting layer tubes around said inner core tube which have degassing bores. A blind layer is provided between the core tube and the innermost supporting layer tube and a plurality of core plugs rest on the core tube and are provided in a number corresponding to the number of degassing bores. The blind layer has an opening therethrough and is longitundinally split into segments and a parting channel is formed between every adjacent two segments. A core plug is positioned in central alignment with the parting channel in an opening of the blind layer. One of the supporting layers is welded only by its upper portion to the supporting layer and the core plug has a bore communicating directly or indirectly with the atmosphere. A degassing pipe is threaded into a threaded bore defined in the core plug and the core plug is provided with grooves which extend transversely along its underside, which rests on the core tube.
